Training is teaching to publish your "About Me" as a post. Why? This should be a page. Can we please correct this?
Personally I think that the about me should be a page as it is fixed and for all to see who visit your website
Paul
It should be in the general structure and menu of your site, so easier done as a page.
Posts will generally be added to your blog roll :-)
I would guess that you can publish as a page or a post depending on your preference.
If you publish the "About Me" information as a post early in the process, it will get buried in the blogroll so putting a link in your menu will make it seem as though it's a page.
Posts can have categories and tags which pages can't. However I use a page for 'About Me'.
I have mine as a page. Maybe some people want it as a post to get comments on it, but I would rather get comments on my content, not on me.
Mine is a post as the training says but it has it's own tab on my menu. I don't really see the difference though because you can put pages and posts where ever u want and enable comment on a page.
The only real difference is that a post will appear in the blogroll.
I, personally, don't like that.
Yeah, you can activate comments on pages, too.
So I don't understand why Kyle uses this argument. ^^
Additionally, a post usually displays the time when it was posted.
Another thing I wouldn't like.
Before it was said that "evergreen content" should be a page.
And I think that the about me page is evergreen.
It does make sense to be a page. Maybe it's just to get a post on your site do it doesn't look so empty on the home page but it's not likely many people outside of WA are seeing your site that early in the process
True. I have the plugin to switch them because I needed to do it with another one. I haven't really been concerned with the about me page but it's something to consider now that it has been brought up. Never really thought much about it before.
By the way.
It's kind of funny that Kyle always talks about the "about me PAGE" in the training but then recommends to publish it as a post. :D
I think it is new for him, too, to use an about me post and not an about me page. :p
Ya, I just don't get it. There is so many questions in chat about this. It's frustrating. Follow the training...except...
I was wondering the same thing. I ended up changing mine over to a page and just enabled comments on the page. I’m not sure what the benefit is, but following this to hopefully get an answer as well.
Kyle said in the training to do as a post so you can get comments. You can't with a page. I think many visitors check out the About Me page/post (I know I do). I have mine as it's own tab on my menu.
Yeah, you can get comments on a page without a problem.
I really don't understand either why they recommend using a post.

I need a new set on eyes of this. I published a post yesterday and it is not secure. All my other pages are.
I have gone through everything on the page and all links
Hi Jean this happened to me before. It's known as mixed content.
This video shows how to fix this SSL insecure content. I had 2 pages like this. I did an experiment and deactivated the plugin and the 2 pages went back to being insecure. This plugin works with the SiteSSL (HTTPS) we have in SitePlus+. SSL: Activation, No Padlock, Mixed Content and Google Search Console I don't like plugins but have to keep this one. It's called SSL Insecure Content Fixer.
Thanks, Patsy. Will look at Marion's video and keep working on it...sigh
So you added this plugin along with our SitePlus SSL?
Yes and I dislike plugins.
The SiteSSL (HTTPS) does the trick but..it's when we have these stray pages/posts that aren't secure.
You need both together from now on, as I mentioned, I deactivated the plugin hoping the green padlock and https was there but NO.
Awesome!
It drove me crazy also when I found the 2 pages.
You are very welcome! I'm happy to have been able to help.
Big hugs :)
I hear you!
I wrote a blog post months ago to make sure I had the right plugins to find I had more than one sitemap and didn't need a spam plugin either because of the one in Siteplus+. So of course these duplicate plugins clashed. Both sitemap plugins I added in the lessons! As a newbie I had no idea.
The 2 sitemap plugins made a mess of my sitemap and it's still like that. Not sure what the spam ones did but since then, I've had members send me their list of plugins and I was able to help them get rid of a few they didn't need.
Always learning something new :)

I have the standard affiliate disclaimer in my footer on my websites but in chat people were talking about an Amazon Affiliate disclaimer that needs to be on each page with lin
FYI, the FTC will not consider a disclaimer in the footer as sufficient. They want the disclaimer close to the presentation of the affiliate links.
Here's their official disclosure guide. https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking
To make the FTC truly happy, they'd want it right before the first affiliate link on the page. Minimum they want the disclaimer to appear before the first affiliate link, so readers are sure to have seen it before they click on anything. It must be in the same size, written in the same tone, and be easily understood. FYI - the FTC does not believe that saying "affiliate link" explains it, as 99% of the population does not know what that means.
Yes. I would put the Amazon disclaimer in the footer and the general disclaimer on a dedicated page.
Amazon is more strict than most other partners.
If you don't display their disclaimer, you risk your Amazon affiliate account.
