Yes. I think it very well might when I get time to give it a try. Thank you Randy. :)

I imagine there's some CSS code that you can enter in the Custom Css area. I've been looking for it but just can't seem to find it. I'm sure someone here knows code... I thought Marion knew a little.

Thanks Randy. I'll check in to that. :)

Hey Jeannie,

It does not sound like you using an photo editing software to create the image size you want. Here's a Google search results to help you find a FREE online photo editing site: http://bit.ly/2h7QXeX

In answer to your question, doing a Google search, I found the following information:
"Recommended header image size is 1018 pixels by 250 pixels but it doesn’t mean that you can’t use different size especially for height."

Don't forget to optimize your image.

Hope this helps you.

I use paint to resize and I changed the picture within the photo editor to a much smaller image; but when I put it in as new header image; it just went in as the same size only grainy. I have to be able to change the recommended size or get around it somehow. Thanks for replying.

You need to work with the original image and have it nothing less than the theme's recommended size, else is will look grainy.

Hope this helps you.

It is a very large recommended size. It takes up the whole screen. You have to scroll down to see the menu. That's my problem. Maybe there is no way around it short of changing themes; but I thought it was worth a try to ask. Thank you for responding.

Yes, you could always change the theme with one that has a smaller header image. That would answer the problem for you.

Can you create a white bar around it, and place the header picture into it? If you need help with that, you may PM me

Thanks Loes. I will pm you.

How about checking the style file and other files which you have within the theme. Go to Appearance, Editor and see what you have there.

Thanks for replying; but I have already done that. I think it will have to be something beyond the normal to help me. Perhaps someone who is knowledgeable enough to get around the normal settings?

That is limited by your theme. Can you contact the support people where you got the theme? They would know.

Thanks Gary; but I don't know how to do that. I could try word press support; but they will probably just tell me it is my theme. I know the themes are limited; but I also know that there are usually ways to get around it if you are knowledgeable enough.

hi Jean
ive had the same problem before i was always taught the best banner was 1050 x 250 but if the theme your using has a bigger header image the only way to change it is by rewriting the original most of the theme creators wont let you do that no matter what you change it always goes back to the themes original platform. you can try contacting the creator of that certain theme and kindly ask for a suggestion.more likely the easier way is to find another theme you like and switch.Wordpress will save all your existing theme so you can place it on another. contact their support it will probably be easier and less time beating your head on the wall
hope this helps a little

Bryan

Thanks Bryan. I hate beating my head on the wall. :)

When I try to google fetch it says it redirects. It has my website in twice. Is this normal?

This URL redirected to:

On top of Google fetch you can change websites, you have probably http:// and https:// when you fetch the new post under the link http:// Google does redirect it to the https://

When you fetch it under the https:// then it will not get a redirect

Hi Loes. I changed it. It didn't work. If I search for the whole site it goes through. If I search for a specific page it redirects.

I have a problem with my site map. There is a post that I deleted and they still think it is there. I don't know how to get it out. I don't know if that could be the problem or not.

Thanks for replying.

Just above fetch you see Google index, there you can remove pages

Thanks Loes. I didn't see it there. It was a post that I deleted and it is making a 404 error. It was about the Black Friday sale here at WA and once it was over; I deleted it. I give up for the weekend. I just don't feel good enough to keep pursuing it. :(

Sorry my Search console is in Dutch, but I think it's about at the same place in English

I guess I didn't make that very clear. I did find the google index and delete urls; but I didn't find my deleted post that is causing problems. Thanks for your help though.

Google is taking some time before they correct it. You can say to them you have resolved the error. Hopefully, they listen ;)

By the way, 404's are sloppy but do not harm your business

Hi, Jean

I was facing the same issue when I was three years old and started my 1st website/blog thingy on WordPress. That was before we all had light bulbs and we had to blog by candle light. The problem was WordPress was (and still does) settings itself.

Just change your website address >>> Settings >>> General

Currently, your website URL may look like this:

http://SomebodyHelpMeJeanIsAMonster.com

The mighty WA acquired a Site Wide Sockets Security Layer and you or WordPress should have made your new address look like this:

http://httpS://SomebodyHelpMeJeanIsAMonster.com (your non SSL should have been set to (you guessed it) REDIRECT (Yeah....I Know...Right?) to the Secured http://httpS://.

Anyhoo.....

Now then, ole buddy of mine, just change it to :

http://httpS://WWW.SomebodyHelpMeJeanIsAMonster.com

That's it.

PS. The Whole World Loves a Smart A** Teddy Bear.

Man!!!..... I miss having time to mess with my buddies on here.

PSS. In the Future...Should you have problems of THIS caliber, you can always reach me directly by phone at 1-800- waa AAAA aah!!

PSSS. You DID Verify your website with Google, Bing and Yah.... I mean Pindtrest, didn't you?

Lol. What a silly widdle bear you are! But if you can be a cute widdle Teddy Bear; why am I a monster. I want to be a cute widdle kitten or something. Let's see:

https:/Jeannieisacutewiddlekitty.com

Now isn't that better?

The cute widdle kitty is currently fighting a virus. She's been in the litter box quite frequently, and off her food because of stomach upset, etc. She's trying to claw herself out of it; but it's making her head hurt. To top it off she is babysitting the little "rug rat" that gave it to her; but who is now feeling better. Meeee-oooww!!

Thanks so much, Chris. I will definitely try this; but it may be late today or tomorrow. I will let you know how it works out.

Cute widdle kitty
Jeannie

Awe....
Such a Cute Widdle Kitten. Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty. Purrr Purrr Purr.

Feel better, buddy. Let me know if it works and where to send the invoice

Well, I changed it. Still redirecting. I also took Loes advice. Still redirecting. If I don't choose a specific page the site goes through okay. I did notice that in Google Analytics, under general settings, that the default is still http; but I didn't know how to edit it.

I don't know, buddy. And I do this poop for a living. You just probably need to add them as separate properties

It won't let me change anything in there. Unless I have to clear authorization and clear cache and start from scratch. I wonder if I can text google analytics for help?

Yep, probably. In the blog I wrote,Recipe for traffic, I left the Ph.# for Google.

Cute widdle Bear:

Thanks Chris. I'm giving up for the weekend. Maybe I will feel better next week.

It has to do with the URL See this explanation. https://trustiko.com/redirected-status-when-you-fetch-as-google-fix/
It could also be a server issue that site support has cognizance over!

Thanks Mike.

I am stumped. I tried adding the old website with http in case they still have it that way too. I don't think it helped.

I'm going to bed. I'll try again tomorrow.

Does this help? Because it is all greek to me.

I know you can find people by typing their profile name in to the search bar, but what if you only know their real name?

Jeannie

Write a blog about the real name and see if anyone responds ?

Thanks for responding; but I decided to handle it a different way.

Type it in the search box above.

Thanks, but it doesn't come up when you type in their name if it isn't their profile name. I tried it. Lol. :)

Hey Jean,

This is what I do:

Thanks; but I have the real name. I am looking for the profile name. Jeannie

When I go to profiles Jean. The only way I can find a first name if not given or previously mentioned is to drill down the thread to the welcoming message from Kyle!

Good tip. Thank you Michael. But it is the reverse. I don't have the profile name; just the real name. Lol.

Only a few of us use our real names. The rest are using nicknames/usernames so, sorry, we can't find them unless we know them well.

Thanks Marion. Yes. I changed mine after I realized that it was confusing. Now I'm easier to find; but hardly anyone wants me. Lol.

We really do want you Jean :) keep smiling.

Awwweee. Thanks Marion. You're the best. :)

No, that doesn't work, only nicknames pop up, unless you type in my real name Loes ;)
You can ask the community, who knows the nickname of....

I changed mine so it would work that way too Loes. Btw...do you know anyone named Mitch Crim? Lol.

No sorry, that doesn't ring a bell

Would this help you a step in the right direction?
http://notvonlinemarketing.siterubix.com/wealth-affiliate-internet-marketing-review

Thanks anyway. :)

You are amazing. How did you find this? I don't think it helps me much though since I need to PM him. It does show me that he hasn't been here long though. Thank you.

You can use the contact form or email address in the privacy policy and ask what his nickname is

Google knows everything!

Thanks Loes. Yes Google does know every thing. I'm not sure if that is good, bad or neutral. :)

Neutral for now, but I have the feeling it's going to be bad in the future

It would work if you were looking for me, lol, but alas, you are not :) I do not know of any way you could. What you could do is send Kyle a message to have the person get hold of you, that may work :) Good luck!

I really just wanted to know genetically speaking; but I am looking for someone named Mitch Crim. I don't suppose you know him?

Not familiar with that one, no. :(

Thanks anyway. Lol.

It says nothing about the post it is on. It is totally about another post that I didn't ask for a comment on. I would be writing my own comment. Lol

Yes, and write yourself a really good one!
that's the great thing about the ability to edit comments...
Then just look for a new comment on your desired post...
All comments play a significant role in rank so avoid deleting if you can.

I'm not sure I could do that. If it had just said something about the post I asked for comments on then maybe I could add to it and delete about the other part; but it doesnt feel right to write the whole thing. Thank you for taking the time to answer, though.

The training that Kerri mentions is what you are looking for Jeannie.
Jerome

Thanks Jerome. But I don't want to spend that much time. Can you tell me how to find members here at WA by there profile name? I want to send her a pm explaining why I am disapproving her comment.

If you know the profile name Jeannie you can just type it in on the search box up top. It'll bring their profile up.

Thank you Jerome. I will try that. I thought I did but maybe I typed it in wrong cause it didn't come up. I appreciate your help. :)

Check out this blog post- it is addressed. You might be able to try it.

Thank you so much for answering me; but it looks time consuming to add 2 plugins and make a new post etc. And it doesn't really speak to the problem I have that is that the comment given was not for the post that it was commented on. If I don't find a simple way to do it I will probably just disapprove the comment.

You know what you could do is to thank her for the comment, but mention that she must have wanted to place it on the "other" post and link to that post. That will make an internal link on your site and keep anyone reading comments moving around your site more.

Thank you Kerrie. Good suggestion. I appreciate your help.

I can't do blogs on WA on my iPhone because the blog window is half way off of my screen. I find this very annoying; but I don't know how to move it to center. Please help.

You are correct, it's not formatted properly. I think the solution would be to type your blog on a mobile-friendly application like notepad or Evernote, then copy/paste the content to the WA blog area and edit the next time you're on the computer.

Thanks for answering Nathaniell. My Kindle doesn't get internet most places I go. Since everything is going to need to be mobile friendly soon; couldn't this be reformatted to center? My phone is the only thing I have that gets internet when I am away from home. I am away from home almost every weekend. There is time I could write blogs if I could do it on my phone. :)

Blogging inside WA is a secondary priority. Your main thing to focus on is your website! I'm sure they will fix this in the future but 99% of people will not be blogging inside WA from a mobile phone, so I think they will be working on other things before addressing this issue.

Thanks Nathaniell. :)

I have found this happens on my tablet , I just zoom in and not out, then it become a full screen to blog.
Zooming keeps the screen from cutting off, Not sure if it work on a Iphone, but it's worth a try.

Thanks for answering. Sorry. Doesn't work with my iPhone. Tablet works ok.
