Hi friends.

Well, here we are heading toward another Father's Day Weekend. Which has found me reminiscing about my dad. So I worked through my feelings with another poem. I'd like to share it with you. If you don't like poetry; just move on to another blog. :)

Happy Father's Day in Heaven, Pappy!

You are There

You were there.
To pick us up when we fell;
And to lift us, when we couldn't reach.
You were there...with us;
Dependable and strong.
There to help us, and to teach.

You were there.
To show us right from wrong;
And mold us.
You were there...with us;
To read and sing to us,
And in your arms to fold us.

You were there.
To make it known that work
Is not a bad thing.
You were there...with us;
To show, by example
The pride hard work can bring.

You were there.
Providing for us,
Working, as you were able.
You were there...with us;
Not complaining; but pleased
There would be food on the family table.

You were there.
To laugh and to cry
With your little brood of four.
You were there...with us;
To push us when we would quit;
To do just a little bit more.

You were there.
You commanded respect,
And you were honest and true.
You were there...with us;
We were proud of who you were,
And wanted to be just like you.

You were there.
I remember so many things
Good and not so good about you.
You were there...with us;
With piercing eyes of blue
And a smile that could melt you.

You were there.
Our home was built on a rock.
Your presence with us stayed our fears.
You were there...with us;
As time rushed on, and by,
And months became years, and more Years

You were there.
When your health started failing.
Nothing on this earth can last.
You were there...with us;
As you had to accept help
From your children you helped in the past.

You were there.
And you didn't give up, or give in
Though your physical strength waned.
You were there...with us;
And through all the changes
We all loved you just the same.

You were there.
Sharing your wit and humor
With any family or friend.
You were there...with us;
Til God called you home.
But that was not the end!

You are there!
Reunited with our mother
In the home God prepared in the sky.
You are there...and not with us;
But some day we'll join you,
In our new family home, by and by.

If you still have your father present with you on this earth, please let him know you love and appreciate him this Father's Day. It's hard to shout loud enough to be heard in Heaven. Acknowledge him now while he's still here.
