When not to write.

There are times when we can write and we get amazing content. We feel inspired or just more focused than at other times. There are times when we can write, but we need extra motivation and perhaps a few more breaks.

Then there are times when we shouldn't write at all. If you are not focused at all or you really don't like the topic. Then don't write it. You are going to hurt your website more than help it. Readers can tell when you trying to fill an article with "fluff". Never publish when you are tired. There will be several mistakes and you'll likely miss them. Don't write about controversial topics if you don't have a backbone. If you are going to choose a topic that is controversial then you are asking for an argument. If you are bringing up that topic online you're not only encouraging an argument, you're encouraging an argument that rises to level of preschoolers or territorial animals. IF you don't want that then don't start that.

Write because you want to not because you can. If you don't like it you'll not produce quality just quantity

Good information. I know when I'm tired I don't think clearly.

I get very "fuzzy headed"

I agree on the quality, that was a problem I first have, I had a bad habit of stuffing articles with unnecessary content. i had to redo a lot of my early posts, a lesson learned :)

I've learned this lesson through mistakes as well. I ultimately have decided to leave my previous articles up so I can show my growth along the way.

A vibrant close out statement Jennifer, awesome thank you.
It depends how you tackle controversy, it can stimulate the conversation if done well, even if we don't have strong back bones.

I see it a lot on social media where someone will start a controversial conversation then get extremely upset over an opposing opinion even when stated in a proper manner

Great work

Thank You

Great post Jennifer thank you :)

Thank you for coming by and reading :)

You have a great gift for writing Jennifer and it's lovely to see you sharing it on here :)

Thank you for being supportive. I love writing, but it is made so much easier when I have such a welcoming community to turn to

Yes it is important to put yourself in your reader shoes like Paul said. Thank for sharing

I very much agree

Yes JD!...and also when we write, we must do it with the readers eye!

Indeed.

I prefer quality to quantity: for that reason, I take the time to think about the topic of a blog and most importantly if the content adds value to my readers. Thanks, Jennifer.

Very true

"Don't write about controversial topics if you don't have a backbone", love it Jennifer! I think that even if you write crap you should publish it because sometimes it's the crap that gets the vote. I speak as a musician, when I have given what I believe as a bad performance people have come up and said they had the best time ever......go figure! Maybe it's to do with you don't have to be perfect and your followers will still follow you through thick and thin and love the fact you can screw up too....maybe the next post can be an apology to the last post, but done in a humourous way so as not to garner sympathy but to get a laugh!

Brilliant way to look at it :)

Very important point Jennifer. Thanks !

Thank you steve

You advice makes sense for NOT ruining your blog/website just because we need to feel "productive".....as you indicated.. it can turn out to be
"DESTRUCTIVE" instead. There are days when we should be Human Beings rather than Human Doings!

Thanks again for the sound advice Jennifer
