Hey John,
This bit of news may explain Google issues: Any thoughts on google plus shutting down? Hope you find this helpful.
Check out Leo's blog about where the new fetch by Google is: Here's Where Fetch Is In The New Google Console
Yesterday it worked for me. Today I still haven't tried it, I'll see if it's working later.
The times it says temporarily unretrievable, I clear cache and cookies and try again, or I try it on my phone or another browser.
I don't know whether it has anything to do with their new search console, but when i checked the crawl URL feature it just says submit a sitemap. I know they check the sitemaps regularly (did mine yesterday) but still jay wouldn't recommend it if it didnt work

I followed Jason's advice below, using the URL Inspection tool in new search console is much easier and tells you whether your URL is visible or if not add it to a fetch queue, thanks @JasonJF

Hi, i am at a crossroads at the mo. I am really into Sci-Fi and i am also one of those people who actually enjoy both Star Wars & Star Trek... I know not everyone is thrill
I am like you! I like star wars, but am a FAR bigger fan of Star Trek. It would probably be the best thing if it were me, to look at both separately and maybe consider having one website for Star Trek and another for Star Wars.
yeh, it does seem the conundrum - i think on balance am going to treat them separately. definitely different communities. gives me loads to think about.
thanks for your thoughts
Hey, choose the one you are most comfortable with at this time. Since you will be using low hanging keywords, it is going to take some time to get the needed amount of traffic.
I am a huge fan of both and if I had to decide I would first look at the affiliate programs specifically for both niches and decide which products I could promote better.
I definitely would not do a website that promoted both. That would not be good for rankings and a hassle for content creation.
Check out page 6 of my recent training below. I provide links to a Star Trek and a Sci Fi/ Fantasy affiliate programs. I also give an example of what kind of Star Trek website I would do. Profitable Niche Affiliate Programs – Passions and Hobbies
thanks, your post was where i got the inspiration for it. the affiliate programs for either look good. was thinking more about the merchandise available to either.
I have had time to think about it and probably targetted each separately is a thing.
A lot of the star trek sites out there look dated and might mean an opportunity for a fresh website to succeed.
Same with Star Wars.
thanks for sharing. definitely food for thought
You are welcome. I really think that a Star Trek site would probably do best simply because it has a longer history and larger world-wide fan base than Star Wars.
Should you decide on Star Trek, remember that there has been many levels or generations of Star Trek. Focusing in on one like the original TV series, the TV series with Captain Picard, the movie series with the original cast, or even the more recent 3-movie series, might be the way to go.
If you have not yet seen the video showing the entire evolution of Star Trek, which will break down all of the different Star Trek TV shows and movie series, I highly recommend you watch it. It could help inspire you into which Star Trek to target.
If you intend to focus on Star Trek as a whole or even make your website about the evolution of Star Trek, you should definitely embed this video somewhere on your website. For reference, you can view this video on my Star Trek website post at the below link.

thanks for this - really shows you know your stuff around Star Trek and this business. Will definitely have a look at the video. Don't want to rush into this one as still playing around with my other site. But after some research Star Trek does have the history to go with it. Am planning on going to Destination Star Trek in Birmingham (UK) later this year. so may coincide a lot of this niche along with that.
Thanks again for your thoughts
You are welcome. One thing to consider is that most people were Star Trek fans long before Star Wars was ever created.
Hi John. I think a good niche that can include both of them and many more would be a "science fiction space" niche.
In it you would be able to review books, movies, TV series, and even gadgets from them...
I should have add the word saga at the end like "Science Fiction Space Saga"
I used to be a Start Trek fan. Love science fiction movies.
Which one are you the most passionate about? That would be the one to go with. It is totally up to you.

to be honest, I can't split them. I like them both and could talk about either all day.
reading the comments, I may target sci fi and incorporate them both.
I can see you incline to go for star wars. I believe hit one first and once it has established, may be create another site for Sci-Fi.
You may also to have both combined, just a matter how to connect them in the same site.
My opinion.
:)
