The Future is Not 9 to 5

The Future Awaits

The future is dependent on what you are trying to reach. I know a 9 to 5 job is not my future. I don't want to keep waking up at 3 am to be at work for 6 am to work 10 or 12 hour days. The job has too many frustrating moments making me realize there are better options out there.

No Nine to Five Crowns

There is no glory in giving my life to a job where they determine my income. We are worth more than that. I look back at family members and friends who labored all those years. They may not have known any better since the mindset is get a job. My mindset is taking a serious second look.

We Don't Care About You

I have a mission that is not impossible. There is purpose when you know what you are reaching for. You can't reach for anything when you enslave yourself to a 9 to 5. The job doesn't care whether you quit, have hours cut, or get laid off. I have been a recipient of all of these factors multiple times.

Financial Destitution

I work for a logistics company that is contracted by a huge German auto manufacturer. The auto manufacturer cuts people's hours without any regard where it leaves people financially. BMW just doesn't get it. (Oops, disregard that I put the initials of the manufacturer. My fingers slipped when I was typing.)

We Have Been Duped

The sad fact is a 9 to 5 is not a secure future. Every company creates these negative elements. I would love to create the biggest PSA informing people that they are duped into conforming to a 9 to 5 system. The system has a despotic element of dictating our future. I decided I will dictate where my future lies.

Why

A 9 to 5 will get you old quick. There is no time for anything else. They demand at the last minute you have mandatory overtime. You either oblige or you get written up. Who wants to put up with this every day?

Three Weeks of Vacation, Ha!!!!

I know that is not what I want. I look forward to the day when my alarm will be useless. Freedom to travel where and when I want to. The three weeks of vacation the job gives after 5 years of service doesn't cut it for me. I am determined to have a permanent vacation.

Burn the Clock

It will be very rewarding. The reward will be when I can take the alarm clock and literally burn it. The other wonderful part of this is I won't have to get up. My schedule on that day will be to look at my bank account and smile. I won't have to live paycheck to paycheck.

Financial Prison

I am getting very tired of this routine. I hate being held captive in a financial prison. Sometimes we need to look deep in order to change our situation. Not changing it only keeps us held hostage to the same routine. We need to think differently.

68 Is Too Far Away

I don't want to retire when I'm 68. I want to be retired when I'm 50. Retiring at 50 is a wonderful goal, but I need the financial stability also. The only way I can make this happen is be diligent in my efforts. Working hard with goals in mind will get us there.

I Don't Have It

I will work as many hours as possible so I don't have to work 9 to 5. The effort, hard work, and determination will pay off. I don't have that for the 9 to 5 schedule. It isn't worth the effort. There is no benefit.

Got To

I want to have the benefit of financial freedom. A 9 to 5 isn't going to give me that. My goal is to be out of this 9 to 5 rat race by the time I'm 50. Next year I will also do the yearly membership. Gotta do it.

Bad Days are Plenty

The power behind motivation is a great tool. You can have all the tools, education, goals, and encouragement, but if you aren't motivated then you won't see any changes. I have plenty of bad days at work which jumpstarts my motivation for my business. I would rather not have bad days, but it comes with the territory. Bad days are my caffeine jolt.

Loaded With Fives

I look forward to the day when I can say goodbye to the 9 to 5. Pick up my laptop and go fly somewhere for the day. Look at my bank account and not worry about the 5 bucks in there to carry me through for the rest of the week. I will have multiples of 5 bucks. That day will be grand.

Sayanara

That day is coming. There is light in the distant. The beach life is coming. All of WA will be invited. Goodbye 9 to 5 or 10 hour days or 12 hour days or 3 am wake ups. Just goodbye.

Would love to hear fellow WA goals

Hi Jeff!
Yes I believe there are many here who feel the same way.
You are smart for starting young, I would love to have found this 13 years ago when they were new!
Don’t give up on your goals, you can make it happen.
All the best for 2019!

I agree with you whole heartily because I too am tired of living from paycheck to paycheck this is really bad. Always worried about money is not good either.

Always wondering what gets pay this month and wondering what you have to pay next month. I just want to live without worry all the time.

We have to work hard to get what we want so we can take it easy for the rest of our life.

Mary

Taking it easy is on the top of the list

Yes, it is when we get where we are going then and only then can we take it easy till that time we have to work hard for ourselves.

Mary

Beautiful and a very emotional post. At least for me.

I've been very lucky to have chosen to work as a freelancer most of my working life. Of course, that meant often not knowing where the next paycheck was coming from.

I sometimes wondered if it was all worth it, to sacrifice stability for my passion?
I got my answer some five years ago when I had to work in an office for 6months.
Those were dark, dark days. I loathed every single one of them.
I just couldn't believe people did this every day for years and years.

Now, I have children and need to make some regular (and good) money, I've chosen to do the affiliate marketing. This is my first year, and I am determined that by next year my full-time income comes from here.

I don't mind working hard, I just mind slaving my life away for someone else!

Good luck with your website!

Best,
Alenka

You and me both. Our dreams and success depend on our efforts
