Photography at a young age

I've been involved in photography since high school. I started out with a Canon T50 with a two kit lens. Photography was different back then because it was all about film. Digital Cameras are the norm today. Film photography was a process since bringing your image to life was done in the darkroom.

Photography in Brooklyn

I had a small darkroom set up on the tub in a small Brooklyn apartment. My parents wished I had my darkroom somewhere else. I couldn't help it since I needed the developer, and fixer back then. Those were the days. I stil have my Canon T50, but I enjoy digital work now.

A great digital camera

My Nikon D3100 has been a great asset. I use this camera for all my work. This is a great camera for those who are interested in getting into photography. It is easy to operate, great quality, lots of features, and very inexpensive. I suggest everyone get one.

Photography subjects vary

My photography varies with subject matter. I enjoy landscape photography. Getting out into nature with my equipment is a top priority. I've gone out in all kinds of weather. You need to get different shots at different times.

It's all about light

I've gone back when it has snowed and the image is very different. I don't just pop out a point and shoot camera either. I look at my subject and check the lighting aspect. Photography is all about light. I invite everyone to look at Ansel Adams landscape photography when you get a chance.

Photographic passion

He was an amazing photographer. The contrast, detail, imagery, and juxtaposition of his work spoke volumes. His passion is evident in his work. I try to convey that same passion in my art. I take time to view everything about my subject.

Photography takes time

I look to see where the light hits, what lens I'm going to use, what filters will work, and what I want in the image. I don't race through any photo opportunity. The process takes time. I enjoy every minute. Photography is about patience.

Getting lost in photography

I can take as much time out in the elements. I will go out early in the morning and spend all day out there. I love getting lost and finding hidden subject matter. Photography and adventure go hand in hand. Get out there and find your next adventure.

A different view

Those adventures and a camera is a way to see things differently. Creating a great photograph is inspiring. We see things around us every day and it's like ok. When you look through your viewfinder the subject matter takes on a different perspective. I do most of my work in camera.

Zoom it

I will zoom in or out finding the right angle. Looking for that certain detail to focus on can make or break a photograph. I see a lot of photography with so much in the scene. It distracts from the important element. Take time to make a great photo.

Grasp the basics

Photography can be learned by anyone. Some have a talent, but others have to learn the basics. Learn the basics first. Get out and take photos every day. You will get better with practice.

Photography is erotic

Hold that camera as though it is your first true love. Turn it inside out and upside down. Look at everything on it. Feel it up. Look through the viewfinder.

Beautiful is right in front of you.

The viewfinder will open up a new way of looking at every day items. Your eye will see things like never before. Everything is beautiful. I imagine it would be if a blind person gets their eyesight back. Time to jump into new adventures.

Inspired by expression

Get inspired with photography and get out there. It is never too late to learn photography. Fill those walls in your house with great images. Express yourself with images that can tell a story. An image always speaks to us.

Capture the story

I have done photographic work for various projects. Some of those projects portray a photojournalistic side. The story behind the image is very compelling. If you can capture that moment then there is no need to explain the image. If you have to explain the image it is as if you had to repeat the joke punch line.

Every image has a story

I like to let the story play out in the image. This is what I want to convey in every image. Not having a story is unfulfilling. This is why I love photography. I encourage everyone to enjoy photography.

Don't google and photograph

Make it a family affair. Too many sit inside googling and youtubing. Get out and grab that camera. Find those beautiful subjects. There are plenty of subjects in this world.

It's not orange juice

I stated that I like landscapes, but I photograph everything. I see beauty in the most unattractive item. I have taken photos of dead animals. I love making all subjects look interesting. Photography gets my creative juices flowing.

Change it up

I will always make time for photography. The subject matter is never ending. I will go back and photograph the same subject numerous times. A photograph can always be improved upon. Photography will get you thinking outside of the box.

Don't neglect your camera

I'm very happy when I can explore the world with my camera. My camera is with me most of the time. Opportunities arise all the time. I never want to miss the chance to get that image. It may be the only time it will be there.

Photography interrupts the mundane

When I started out years ago people thought my camera was one of my appendages. I still have that appendage. I will keep that appendage until I die. Photography is my life, my passion, my inspiration, and my sanity. Photography takes me out of the mundane situations of life.

Learn and share

I encourage everyone to get inspired and get a camera. Learn all you can about the art. Share your images and stories. Inspire others to join you in your next photographic adventure. Keep a camera with you at all times.

Let the image speak

Get out there now and photograph everything. Photography will open up new doors and new ideas. Take time to enjoy what is around you and visualize it through your camera. There is no better way to tell your story. Grab your camera and let photography tell the story.

Hello Jeff ! This is a wonderful post. I found it very interesting because I am into photography as well. I am also into the photography niche. I was literally just scrambling for ideas for my next upcoming post on my website. But reading this post has got me inspired and I have come up with some ideas. Thanks again for this post.

Awesome. We can feed off of each other

Hi Jeff!
Loved this post, I’m into photography myself. It is amazing how much different the world looks through the lens of a camera. And to capture a moment in time for eternity is a powerful gift.
Thanks!
KyleAnn

I'm glad you liked it. I will be posting more photography related content as time goes on.

That was a great post follow your dreams.

Hi Jeff, thank you for the post, my daughter bought me a nikon D3100 just before she left for England and I had it stashed away for 2 months...too busy to take the time to look at it....took me that long to get it out and start checking it out and getting to know it, now I am learning more about focusing and light and zooming etc...it is like amazing now to me.. and I am enjoying the journey understanding the camera, and take great photographs...your post is inspiring me to think more on how to take great pictures.. I was taking pictures of dead leaves the other day, it is amazing to me how very different it looks through the lens and the changes to the focus or the light makes to the picture...thank you again for your interesting post...Yes I remember the old camera, we use to develop out own black and white pictures as well..back in the 70's I have always thought it was a bit like magic..just watching the pictures take shape on the paper while it is soaking in the solution...amazing...you have now brought it back thank you.

Awesome. One thing though is you put the d3100 in storage for two months. The camera police need to give you a spanking. I'm glad you are inspired. That gets my mojo going. Grab that camera and go.

well I am learning more about what it , thank you for the inspiring story

Enjoyed reading your article. I currently have a Canon 750D and love photographing my guinea pigs for my website. I used to love photographing architecture, when I was on my college course.
Great tips you have included and photography is a powerful tool.

Thank you very much. I hope you keep up the photography.

Definitely, its good to keep it up.

I have a feeling those guinea pigs love the camera.

They sure do :)
