Hey guys I just added a background to my site which I put together in PhotoScape. Its made up of a selection of phone manufacturer logos and then faded, so people can still read my content.

I have it in a tiled layout on my site and not really sure what to think of it

If you could check it out and let me know what you think, if maybe I should remove it or fade it more. I will be very thankful of your honest opinions

Thanks

Jason

Update: Okay guys, thank you very much for your feedback, So I've thought about what some of you said and actually totally agree with you. Firstly I moved the background over to the right (still not sure about it, let me know what you think), then I put the left side in a very light grey almost white to blend with the widgets. Then, as a most important step was to move the social buttons to the far right (I never saw them cover content, but I'm presuming it is on many other devices).

Hi Jason - I like the background, it adds some interest to the plain gray/white screen...sort of like a texture! I do agree with Kathy about the social icons being a bit distracting. Also, this is the second time I've tried to leave a message on a site and couldn't because I had to use Yahoo or Facebook - is that to keep spammers out?

Thanks. You have the option to switch between standard commenting or social media

My opinion...it might work if it was more faded, my eyes just slid away from the text. Add that to the social icons at the side and it's very distracting.
If I'm looking for a review on tablets or mobile phones there is one site I always go to, I remember them. The background is plain white and the social icons away from the content you want visitors to read. I don't want to promote another site here but PM me if you want to take a look, you might get some tips from it.
Your site is looking good, just some tweaks needed to make it even better. :)

Yes if you could pm me the link it would be great. Thank you :)

Hello Jason,

To my mind too distracting but I guess it is a matter of personal choice.

If you are reviewing mobiles, focus on the model at hand to the exclusion of everything else, remember an old adage from Linux - LESS is MORE!

Hey Jason, Just me now......I find the background distracting. I also find the social buttons distracting. They're on the side AND on the bottom of each blog. The ones on the side stay so when you're trying to read a blog, they get in the way.

Interesting, but to be honest I'm not keen, I find it messy and rather off putting.

no, even though it is faded, the background makes it difficult to read the text,

if it can be used as a border, that would work,

2nd issue, the comments plugin you are using is rather invasive,
"You need to accept third-party cookies in your browser in order to comment using this social plugin."

I have my browser settings set to protect me, the plugin you are using seems to want more from my system than I am willing to share,

just the way I see it,

all the best,

Thanks for pointing this out. How do I get around this, the comments plugin came standard, I never realized this until you said it as I had to accept third party cookies for other reasons.

seems like this maybe something tied in with the theme you are using,

that may involve going to wordpress.org and investigating how the settings in the theme could be modified,

appreciate that you are at least open to checking it out!

all the best,

I don't know if I'm the best person to comment, I have changed my background about 5 times now...Lol...:))

Great Job. Readable with your Background. :)

It wouldn't bother me while reading.

Another thing I noticed though, for me, there are wayyy too many ads. I think I counted 6 from top to the middle of the page. My opinion :)

Thanks, I will be rethinking how I will do my ad campaign over my next few posts, I will leave the ads on the posts I have done as they are.

I'm not a fan of background images BUT, that is just my opinion :)
