Just a few niche picking tips

I just thought I would share a few tips when picking a niche. Having moved to a different niche before xmas, I have learned allot.

You can make money from absolutely any niche but you need to use common sense.

You can indeed make a living from any niche but you have to go about it right. Lets say I like cars, lets make a car website and sell cars. This isn't going to work. People need to see cars before they buy and it is too much money to be transferring online.

"Ok this niche is not going to work, I should just give up" Nope you just need to think about how you can monetise your passion. For exmple in the case of cars, you could sell custom tuning stuff, accessories and much much more.

Many people have information based websites. And for every single one of those where there is no product available, there is always books and ebooks "ALWAYS"

Being passionate about your niche always helps.

If there is something you really like, you either buy into it or read about it and you would be able to hold a long conversation on the street about it. Then you are more than likely going to be able to make a really good website about it andeventually make money from it.

And if you like it you are going to love writing about it.

Dont jump on the big budget item if you are not into it.

Like myself on my first niche, many people just think of the dollars. They think of a product everyone has that costs a pretty penny then create a site on that. This can be very disheartening for a newbie affiliate marketer.

You arent quite into it, you then go off and research it, and try your very best to translate this research into content, This all leads to your niche feeling like hard work or a burden which will eventually just become dreaded boredom.

If you are not quite into it revert back to what I told you about picking your passion.

By all means if you are starting out pick something like this until you get inspired thriught the training. You can then choose to create a new niche at any time, which brings me to my next point.

If it is bringing you down you need to move on, don't give up,

If your niche is bringing you down and you dont enjoy it. Dont be afraid to get out. It took me a while to do this as I felt I had so much work done and I didnt want to leave it behind. You need to get out of this mindset,

Don't give up on affiliate marketing. Just pick a new niche.

You just may be down in the dumps due to traffic or lack of profit. This isn't what I am referring to when I say pick a new niche. So in this case dont give up (Unless you dont like your niche) just chat with your WA friends to get some good council and inspiration.

And finally, you do not need to be an expert.

You do not need to be an expert in your niche. If you know a little it will help some of course. You also may become an expert over time while working on it.

Also if you like your nich you are going to enjoy it more by researching and learning new stuff about it.

I know much about my niche but what I do know is only tiny compared to the information about it. I really love learning new stuff as I research.

Most people here at WA were amateurs of their niche when starting out. Many have gone on to be very successful in it. Some people have proffessional experience in their niche, but that does not mean they are experts.

Anyway I hope I have helped some of you out.

All the best

Jason

Good points especially the one about high ticket items. It's so easy for new people to fall into that trap.

Thanx Jason, great advice and inspiring.

Very good read.

I find you post to be very inspiring to me.

Thank you Jason. My first niche was in my expertise but it is VERY hard to get affiliate links in. I personally think my website is very helpful to people so I have no intention of abandoning it, indeed my bounce rate is only 13%. BUT I need to put much more effort into building affiliate links.
