WEB DESIGN - Might be the reason you're failing!
Hey guys I've been reviewing a fair bit of blogs lately on this website's feedback platform and I see a pattern here. A whole lot of sites are unfinished which is fine... but some are unstructured and just have terrible web design.
Why it's important! - Bad web design means bad user experience, Low credibility and thus gives you a high bouncerate. Anything more than 10% bouncerate means you can do better.
Recommendations :-
Build your own logo at Canva and logomakr. They have some sort of free versions and a resourceful person can use them to make their logo for free without any real skill. Canva is also good for banners and other marketing material.
Learn some basic web design. Page layout, site structure, typology(choosing good readable fonts), choosing a good colour scheme are what you want to learn. Lots of courses in udemy or YouTube and other free sites. There are websites which help you choose good Colour palettes too. It is important to make use of good contrast to improve legibility. Your buttons and background needs contrast. I recommend white text in your buttons. Use a very dark grey for words in articles. Look at bootstraps black, it's actually not black but a very dark grey, it makes it easier on the reader's eyes. The black you see on this website is not black it has been bootstrapped.
A lot of websites these days use the bootstrap framework because it has nailed web design and is really easy to use. Wealthy affiliate is one of them. Look at the menu Colours and the buttons as well as the fonts. They are all pleasing to the eye.
If you run an ocean related blog, choose a good Colour palette of blue. If it's about camping and hiking, choose green. Use contrast to make your buttons easier to read.
Also if you're serious about doing online marketing, websites are your bread and butter. Learn some basic HTML and CSS and bootstrap. It's Free to start at codecademy. Codeschool and treehouse are some good paid options. If you want to know more about which program is right for you, you can pm me. But for the most part the free option in codecademy is more than enough to allow you to modify your theme when you need to.

I've taken down all my sites now I'm starting from scratch but I have past experiences in other forms of online marketing and have taken many courses in web design and done a web app bootcamp. Thanks for your comment. I'm still figuring out what you're referring to.

thanks for the specific sites. It is good to learn the basic tools for the tools you are using. I do use the options available in menus, but I have wanted to do more, but didnt know where to start. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I looked through this after you gave feedback on my site. Then I was spending time working on it and i think my site is looking better following your guidelines. (for in case you are curious how it looks like now. http://specialcrayons.com) So thankful!
i created a logo and changed the theme. There are still parts that are missing and I am figuring them out. If only I can draw my site on wordpress like Im drawing it on paper!

It looks fantastico! Erm I would only change the find out more button to look a wee bit nicer. I would test the blue you used for your logo and maybe the two blues that wealthy affiliate uses for their menu on the left. If that doesn't work then just leave it be for now. You're off to a good start.
