Site Verification and SEO Plugins
You Only Need To Do It Once...
Hi My WA friends
This is a very quick post to try to alleviate the fears and anxieties of newbies and old-tooths alike....
Google...or any other search engine...verification.
Site Verification Vs Plug Ins
I know there is a lot of discussion about the best SEO plugin to use
It's usually a discussion about All In One SEO and Yoast...but there are other SEO plugins.... so this blog is appropriate reading for those also....
Site Verification
OK ...so you want to verify your site...GOOD! That's the most important thing you can do....
DON'T just verify in Google...verify your site in Alexa, Bing, Yandex....etc...etc...
It really is worth your time and effort (and adding the html meta tag is the easiest)
Site Verification and YOUR plugin
Every SEO plugin you install will ask you to verify your site
They are assuming that you haven't verified your site...they assume, big headedly, that their plugin is the first one you have ever used. So they are assuming your site is new and not verified.
They DO NOT assume that you have already verified your site independently in webmaster tools or within another plugin and then made a decision to change your SEO plugin (ie seo all in one the to yoast or viceversa)
Only Once
The whole point is, regardless of any plugin or Google, or Bing, or Alexa, or Yandex etc, If you have verified your site...it's done.
Verification means you PROVE to the search engine...that you own the domain...
What you are doing is listing your website and proving ownership of the website to the search engine
If you log in to your webmaster account with any of the search engines (Google, Bing....) then you can see if your website is verified.
Adding a plugin makes absolutely NO difference to your verification.
Saying that again....
ADDING A PLUGIN MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO YOUR VERIFICATION
Making it SIMPLE
- open webmaster accounts with search engines
- verify your site in all of them
- choose your SEO plugin
- If you change your SEO plugin (because you decide that one is more helpful or is better than the one you currently use) it WILL ask you to verify your domain
- This is the plugin assuming that your site is new and that you haven't verified your site
- If your plugin asks you to verify your site...BUT YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE IT...dont stress...do nothing...your plugin doesnt know you have already verified.
The POINT
If you have verified your site and you see it listed in your properties in google or bing or alexa or yandex...that means the search engines know your site exists and they know you own it...so its verified and you don't need to verify it again...
If you choose a new SEO plugin the just be aware that it will ask you to verify your website....
IGNORE IT
YOU ARE VERIFIED...
I hope this helps...let me know if it does...or let me know if it doesnt...

That's exactly what I did wrong. I re-verified and Google kind of confuse and said I do not have a tracking ID on my site. I have to re-verified manually again.
Thank you for the reassurance about site verification. I would not have known that and I would allow myself to be intimidated by a plugin! I'm too wimpy!!!
No you're not wimpy
It happens to us all...hopefully this blog just helps others
I was confused by it initially also

Truly empathize with that kitten......lol.....quick question....do you know of any plugin that verifies with them all at the same time, or am I stuck with one at a time....
Hi
Don't believe there is a plugin or anyway to do them.all at once. It's sadly a one at a time experience ;)
I didn't think so...but doesn't hurt to ask...probably too many conflicting scripts..sigh
Lol. I understand that sigh. Trust me
