I'm not sure if the .wordpress blogging platform uses the wordpress cms? If it does then it should be pretty easy to export/import with plugins.

You have to take into consideration that you would be essentially creating a new site since you can't own the .wordpress domains. This means you have to tell google you are transferring the content to avoid duplicate content penalty. At least that's how I think it works, maybe someone with more experience can confirm this.

Can you move a free .wordpress site to a domain here?

I have an older website that I have no interest in creating more content for.

The hosting for it is set to expire in February.

Hi Jason, when your site is on page 1, getting a lot of traffic, and yet there's no sale made... then perhaps the problem is in conversion. Please check. Then adjust your content, your copy, to make it more converting. Don't blame the hosting, or the affiliate program. It may be on the conversion with your content.

Thank you! Definitely not blaming the hosting haha the issue would be 100% with me and my writing because it ended up feeling like a chore to write for the topic. I'm going to give it another look through and see what changes I can make! :)

Okay. Good luck to you, I know you can make it. You can do it.

I am assuming that the site is not hosted with WA, maybe move the hosting over to WA if it is a WP based site...

What am I thinking?! Haha of course! I had thought about doing this in the past just to have everything in one spot and forgot. Thanks so much for reminding me, already have my other site on here so it'll be the same payment :)!

Hosting is cheap and with it showing ranking promise I would experiment with upgrading content and leave it up!

I would make what changes, tweaks that need to made to get it making money then leave it up. I have numerous sites I have not touched in a year but every month they make me more than it cost to keep them up.

The big thing is the ranking make use of it would be my opinion.

I go for Bo's answer, and when you want to get rid of it, put it up for sale on Flippa. Don't throw it into the trash just like that

If you have no interest in making content for the website I would let it go if I were you. Mostly because if you have no interest in it it will be like a chore writing more content for the site.

That is just my opinion I hope this helps you in anyway I hope the best for you

When I search for my site with 'www' it returns a page that simply says "Not found."

I can imagine that if people have tried finding me this way, they'll think it doesn'

i noticed that my site is entered in google webmasters as http instead of "https" as it should be, which is causing the redirect.

issue or nonissue you think?

you should Add a Property for your domain for each type of URL you want. Add A Property for HTTP and HTTPS, can also add with and without WWW. variations... they will all use the same verification file...

add sitemap...

Thank you! Yea I ended up seeing some FAQ on google saying the exact same thing, so I'm just waiting for them all to be indexed now.

One of them wouldn't work for some reason (the https://www) version but I uploaded sitemaps and fetched as google for the rest so that should do it?

it should do. also if you only want to use one URL for example you want https://domain.com to be the main one, you can set preferred domain to it so it shows like that in google... you can also do an .htaccess file edit so that http will always redirect to https, I did not do this on WA hosted domain yet, I guess we can, if not you may need to ask Site Support to do it for I think

if fetch as google is returning the "Redirected" message and says it was redirect to the non-www https url, it should be fine right?

also, I've set my preferred to the way it always shows up in my browser (non www, https) which should show my correct stats for google I'm hoping

I guess you have the site setup so that it redirects to https : // domain.com on htaccess? so maybe google is reporting that www or http is redirected to http://name which I guess is what you want

well, not maybe, that is exactly what google fetch is reporting.... that whatever you asked it to fetch, for example www or http or http://www is redirecting to https://name... which is what I it does for me too

I also get the redirect message... when I fetch of www, http://www, http://, non www.... because I have htaccess set to redirect to https: // MyDomainName . com

Ok awesome, it must be set up the same then. Thanks very much for your help!

One last question: if webmaster tools has indexed my pages, do I still have to go back through my posts and fetch each as google?

It says in SiteContent that non of my articles are index in Google and I'm not sure why

not sure how quickly SiteContent checks that or how often. So it could be just a time-delay, or until next time SiteContent checks maybe. I guess you have submitted a sitemap .xml file but if you fetch it's not going to hurt you... maybe, if you have too many pages, wait a bit to see what happens, if later still in doubt fetch or maybe look into sending on ping. Also I am not sure Fetch helps with indexing, should only be a way to see if it can be seen correclty by google which makes us think it also triggers indexing but it may not

Additionally, when I fetch as Google, it says "redirected" and then lists the exact link I entered to be fetched. it asks me if I want to index it into Google, but I have my sitemap set up so I thought it constantly would do this automatically.

Is a redirected status bad and, if so, what do I do to change it?

Cheers!

i should specify, I've been trying to fetch individual blog posts as Google
