Hey guys,

Sorry for being away so long. I know I didn't screw anybody but myself but I need your help.
What started as a long weekend drinking spree, ended with

left a comment on your site and shared it all the best

Ah, a week long drinking spree reminds me of my travels in Europe, lol.

TBH your site is so new, that the next best step is to actually start your training from where you left off. There's so little on the site as of now, that you don't have to worry about what to keep or what not to keep. Just leave it there and move forward.

There's a lot of work you can do with keyword research, finding post ideas, and getting traffic to your site. Consistent posting is going to be very important.

You have a good foundation to start with. It looks like you're doing bootcamp, so just continue with what Kyle's teaching, and you'll be fine.

let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Solid

Take a look at this training by Nathaniell:

I suggest paying it forward by reviewing other people's websites and earning credits from which you will be able to get reviews from others. Also it's really important to address the first REASON why you joined WA...maybe you need more conviction in that to help you get going again. Keep it simple and consistent is my motto...not being harsh, just a helping hand and word. I suggest also looking at your keyword strategy to generate content which will be useful for your posts. The more consistent, the better for your site rankings. Send me a message if you require specific help.

Hi Jan just had a look at your site I quite like it. I like the idea of a journal and to monetise it point your user to WA you could also sell eBooks with resale rights on topics you cover jn your journal just a thought. hope this helps a little bit

"eBooks with resale rights on topics you cover in your journal"
Could you elaborate?

Thanks a lot. I like the journal to but feel it is a bit wishy washy.

No the journal is good it is different and in the training Kyle says to be seen be different or words to that effect. If you type into google ebooks with resale you will get loads I like e junkie. You could sell ebooks about on how to blog or keeping a journal have a look there are thousands to choose from. Hope this helps

JanWest, Just checked your site out. I believe to make honest progress one need honest constructive criticism. So I may come across as a bit blunt. Your landing page had to much txt on it. You could say the same thing in a minute long video. Must people will not take the time to read the landing page and go inside your site. I think your logo is great! That being said you need to use it to brand yourself and your site. As a site visitor I must quickly understand and feel connected to the logo. I think you have some good basic content, but you need to share it in video form. Just some quick thoughts. I like you am just starting out, and dont claim to know everything...I just want to provided you with the feed back you asked for. all the best. ....check out my site what do you think?

I am not crazy about the video idea but I will keep it in mind.

As for the branding, I couldn't agree more. My original idea was to acquire a rabbit suite. I am totally going back to that.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Quick question, if I could create a quick course that shows how I have made my videos would you be interested in it?

I might but at the moment it feels like I am still far away before thinking about videos.

Do you want to make a Udemy course or something?

I guess I missed the most of it.

Hi Jan dont want to put a damper on your already damp week away but i dont see where you are going to earn money from this site,( unless that isnt your intention) seems to me like a good facebook diary, unless im missing something!

I know that is what I started it as but I information wise and writing style, what do you think of the individual blogs?

I think the hey guys every blog gets a bit boring, but if you are writing a diary then yes it works but as i said how are you going to monetize it? or is that not your aim?

Thinking about it, I agree with the "hey guys"

When I started I didn't think about money. Those existing posts don't have to generate money. Not all posts need to. I will use them as a foundation and scrap the daily journal idea.

Personally I think that is a good move Jan

Hey guys,

Example 1: blah blah.(blah)
Example 2: blah blah(blah).
Example 3: blah blah. (blah)
Example 4. (blah) blah
Example 5: (blah)blah

Examp

My choice: Example 6: blah blah (blah).

I edited it in. Ha! That is what donco6 said. Sounds like he knows his stuff.

I was an editor for about 5 years. It makes me a big hit at parties. LOL!

Haha! Well you are now my go to guy for all things English,

First, there's a difference between [brackets] and (parenthesis). Parentheses are used when you're inserting information that explains your un-parenthetical statement.

Example: "I went to the store today (as I mentioned I was going to do in my last letter)."

Brackets are used to insert information that was omitted in the original, but is needed to explain the current statement.

Example: "I went to the [grocery] store today. I needed to get that stuff you asked me to get."

Punctuation should be as I used it above - as if the parenthesis wasn't there at all. ALWAYS leave a space between the end of the parenthesis and the next word. Very rarely do you have an entire stand-alone sentence that's enclosed in parenthesis - normally it's within a sentence with other info.

so...

"I went to the store today (as I mentioned I was going to do in my last letter)."

I have used some in my first post - and so far only - and I think it was appropriate.Iceskater20 did not think so.

I would just like to take a pole on what you guys think.

I swear on my humor blog because I try to offend, on my toy blog......not so much!!

It all comes down to when it will be appropriate, doesn't it.

They don't bother me. For whatever reason they seem to offend a lot of other people.

Well you are definitely going to cut out a certain % of your audience as soon as you start swearing within your content as many people find it out of bounds.

If you don't care and this is not your audience, then go for it. It really does depend, but as a rule of thumb I have never had the need to swear to get my point across, be opinionated, be controversial or be comedic within my content.

I here you, and as this is just a daily thoughts blog with no real purpose yet, I guess it doesn't matter to me.

The reason for this post is just to get more the general view of all. If this will totally screw up sales, there will be a lot of impoverished rock stars and rappers out there.

I think don16 covered the point that it all depends on who your audience is, and if it is appropriate.

I wont go and write profanities on a blog about raising your tween girls, even though there might be a very small percentage that wouldn't mind because they swear in their own head every day about their daily frustrations.

Depends on your audience. If the people you're appealing to don't care then I wouldn't either.

In my mind, there is NEVER any reason for "swear words".

My mother is like that but just wait until someone cuts her off in traffic.

hahaha - mother's are like that !!!
What I say to myself is different than what I say to others.

It's respect for others and the english language.
Although what you used wasn't to bad, "crap" would have been better
- my opinion

I still need to go and read my post out loud, like I told some others I will be doing.

I think reading it out loud will give me a better understanding of how others might perceive it and if I am just going of on a rant.

Me personally I would avoid it, a lot of people find it to be very offensive. There's so many ways to get your point across. I just don't think it's necessary. As always, best wishes, Steve :-)

I'm not sure I agree that swearing conveys a lack of education. I swear a fair bit but not if I want people to listen to what I'm saying. I don't listen if people shout at me and I don't listen if they swear at me....I assume (rightly or wrongly) that everyone is the same and consequently make my points in as calm a way as I can.

To my mind if someone has to shout and swear at me to get my attention, there mustn't much in their point worth my attention.

Your blog had that effect on me, even though the points you make are bang on. If they still don't listen after you've toned it down then fu....ahem....forget about 'em. ;0)

Good point dude. I will look at that section and maybe just bring the screaming down. If there is that tone.

I think reading my posts out loud will be my new method for reviewing them.

Good luck with it all, once you're a millionaire you can swear all you like haha.

Hahaha! I already do in real life. But even a business owner has bosses, and they are called clients.

I'm sure there are many words that can describe emotion without resorting to swear words. Some people do find swear words offensive, and if they are potential customers, then they will probably avoid visiting your site. That's my opinion, for what it's worth.

Personally, I replace swear words with other words when needed Such as bullshit with balloney. No reflection to your post Jan, I couldn't really be bothered if offending a few people, or ruffling a few feathers by what I have to say, I say what I mean, and mean what I say.

However, as a writer, I don't want to reflect to others that I lack command of the English Language. Swearing in a post or blog definitely conveys just that.
There are strong enough words in the English Language, to convey our ideas and opinions, without the use of swearing.

Once again Dear friend, I want to emphasize that this does not, nor is it intended to reflect in any way your post.
Bottom Line: Using "swear words" does project a lack of education, as well as a lack of regard, not such a good Image if one wishes to be taken seriously...
Thanks for sharing
Have a great day
Joseph

Hey Joseph,

Some of the most successful people I know are fowl mouth bastards but I know them personally, not professionally. They also don't really participates in the Internet marketing world.

The reason for me swearing in that section of the post is to show how discussed I am with a behaviour. Maybe I can tone it down.

It's a personal choice for sure, being online is like being out in public, I don't talk or act the same as when I'm in the Barracks ;))
If I'm out buying something, and the salesman has a foul mouth, it's not a pleasant experience.
It's all in how one wants to portray himself.

I get that fully

Hey Friend
Was replying to your question "What do you guys think about using swear words in a blog?", I hope I didn't offend.
Thanks for taking the time to share, much appreciated

No offense. All input is valued. I can't step into everybody's mind and figure out what they are thinking. That is why I have you guys.

It depends on your target audience, some might be offended some not.
Ultimately It's for you to decide, do the words add value to your posts, will your readers want to see them?

That is a great piece of advice... I will actually just read it out loud and then see how people might perceive it.

Getting Started
Updated

Hey guys,

I just finished with my first post on my site and would appretiate all the input I can get.

It isn't much yet but it is a start, as I was procrastinating f

Hi there, like your site but you may offend some people with the profanity. Look for other words. Best wishes!

Thanks... I just put some profanity into that one part that really annoyed me. Do you think it is fine if I keep them, if I don't go on a swearing spree through my whole blog. Or should I soften them up or take them out completely?

It's a very cool name, and off to a good start. Is there a reason you don't have a traditional sidebar? It may help with navigation on your site eventually.

But as far a theme menus go, you're doing OK so far!

Thanks. I will look into a sidebar but it tends to make everything look real busy and in my opinion. So I decided to stay away from it for the moment.

Sure thing. Everyone has different aesthetic tastes!

Lookin good. Left you a comment, well, two comments..... Spelled my site correctly in the second one.

I will check them out. Thanks.

This looks like a great start!

I love the name because it shows creativity, it's short and easily brandable. I wasn't sure what it was about before I opened it (which is not the best thing), but I think it's ok.

I was a little confused at the beginning by your welcome page because you say:
The things I will be covering is money, sex, health, efficiency, happiness and a lot more. I will just be winging it.

It left me wondering what your website was about. It wasn't till I clicked through into your journal that I got an idea…

I would clarify that a bit if possible. But, I also think, that as you progress and figure out what exactly it is that you're writing about, it'll become clearer and help you create a focus…

I really like your writing style and I wish you much success!

It is unclear because at the moment I am unclear as to what my site will really be about. And for the moment I am with that. I can't leave everything blank and do nothing because I haven't figured it out yet.

This site may just stay a journal forever and when I find a niche I want to get into, I will just start a new site.

Gotcha!
In that case, keep working on it... you will figure it out ;)

I reorganized a bit of my content and started a swearing discussion.

WHAT are your interests..:)?? And HOW are your chances of earning money from?? start there! thats what i did! ^^ and im working hard at it everyday now.. you won't be able to see the results, as i haven't published any of it yet! but it'll come.

My method is just do it and I will figure it out along the way. I know all that niche stuff but at the moment I am choosing to ignore it.

I read what you're saying, Jan. But that ins't really an option in this case you know, seeing as you will have to know, what you WANT your site to be all about, before you can truly start working on it, you know??

I have 2 posts up.

Google has nothing. Mmm... Does anybody out there have a clue?

Your site looks really neat. I noticed there was no way to get back to the start page once I clicked. You might want to consider a "home" button. Again, it is a neat looking site (:

You can click on the rabbit to get to the home page but there is no real reason you would want to get back there.

But I will think about it.

your website is not available to view.

That's strange. I wonder what the problem could be?

It can't be a country thing. Swear words?

Try to find out the error code. That can be a good start or your
host provider.

what kinda message do you get, when trying to enter, fastracks??

I need more detail in your message to understand.

Other people could view it. I wonder why you can't... What country are you in? Do you have restrictions against swear words.? What browser are you using?

What error code? I am not getting any.

Please provide us with, THE error code, which you are getting, fastracks??? that would help, Jan locate the source of the problem!

I look at the Website. I guess I hit the wrong link.

Glad to hear it

So any reviews from you?

you can start by cleaning up the profanity if you want your
fans and followers to take your business seriously.

I have started a discussion on that point.

Hi Jan. I just wanted to drop a line and encourage you because you have taken a one step forward! It may not meet the standard expectations but you are walking towards your dream. Go for it! I have one suggestion though: You may need to rephrase your statement "I actually don't know". I guess the sentence ending ".......and a lot more" tells it all. Thanks

The actually I don't know phrase was a bit stupid of me to put in. I will review my writing some more. I got an over instead of offer in there as well.

I tried all three url and none of them worked for me sorry all the best

It can't be a country thing. Swear words?

no I mean you website address is called your url and we can not view your website there is something wrong all the best

Some other guys could view it. What message are you getting?

not available to view please check address all the best

Not available to view... Mmm... I wonder... I will consult Google. Thanks. I will get back to you when I have figured it out. Seems strange that it only effected 2/5.

Did it look like this

no I will try again have you tried yourself all the best

I just tried again and it worked I guess it got fixed all the best

I didn't do anything. Still need to figure out what could have gone wrong. So any comments on my site?

Hmmm, well... Your site is rather empty right now, as i see it??? i can't really give you any feedback on the site(that's what you meant by "input" right?)from what i see of it right now... besides "boring"..? how much time have you used on it yet, Jan? building a website takes time ofcourse.. i can't say how much you've used on this aldready, but by the looks of it, i'd say 10-20 min. maybe..? my recommendation for now is, don't ask for any feedback yet, just focus on building your site, and which things/objects or whatever, you would like to portray on it, at this point. you can always focus on the SET-UP, later.- me personally, have been using a good 3 FULL working days on just building and editing my first website..though it should also be said, that i am unemployeed at this point. and i haven't even published it yet in fact, as i aldready know myself, that i am far from done with it at all, as it is. :)

The bit of Content took me a day.

Hmm, yeah alright, i guess we all gotta start somewhere. :) don't take my words for discouragement either! keep going at it, Jan! you'll get there if you keep working at it, like others are tellnig you too. ^_^

I am not sure what you mean by the things/objects part... Clarity please?

Hm, yeah. i guess i could have been clearer on that too. Sorry for the confusion. What i actually meant by that, was just CONTENT in general. :) your site looks empty to me as i said. Theres just text and a few pictures for the most part. so my "objects" word, was referring to, a good assortment of content.

I have left a comment for you
