Encouraging A Client to Signup

As I indicated I'm working with three different boutique shops as their marketing manager and graphics designer.

One of my clients, her website and social media accounts are a total mess. This client jumped right in to the online world with no knowledge and following bad advice from others.

She advised me that she could not pay by the hour and asked if I could work for free. In polite way, said no but given the advice of signing up for Wealthy Affiliate where she can get the correct training she needs as most of her products are affiliate products where she earns commissions.

What would you do in this situation? Would you work for free or give her the same advice to join Wealthy Affiliate?

This person's website is such a mess, it is not set up correctly. When talking in person with her, I expressed how WA can help her set up a website properly. Along with the amazing training, and in return will save her money with hosting.

Before I ended the meeting, she still continued to proceed in asking me to write 12 blog posts for her without paying as she doesn't have the time.

Hey Jannette! I am glad you are feeling much better!
You did the right thing in advising her to check out WA. She may get some value in the FREE level, then consider to sign up!
You have given her valuable advice, but don’t let her cheapen your services and not pay you. You are worth something, and she should understand that!

Cheers,
🎄Maria

My first thought as I read your post is that this client hasn´t understood the core reason for her own business. It seems like she is doing it only for herself, and that her customers come second.

Partha´s advice is like gold in my ears.

Make an attempt to try to speak your client's "language" and as such make her see that a website and online presence are incredible untapped resources for her.

If she doesn´t bite the hook, let your client go. it will be a waste of time and energy for you.

I wouldn't bother with such a person. All they was is freebies meaning you do all the work. I am sure if she got any commission she wouldn't be sharing it with you.
That are the hit and run type of people and are toxic I don't feel like they would be a good friend either would always go behind your back to make themselves sound good while you do all the work.

Stay away if they want to be your client then charge them for your services under strict conditions they pay in advance and you will see how quick they will run away.
They are not serious with their website they are the ones who want the quick money and do nothing for it.
not worth the effort

I wouldn’t go near it. If you aren’t going to get paid, and she doesn’t see where she’s going wrong or has any perception of what it could be worth to her done properly, run.

You shouldn’t be desperate for her to sign up, she’ll drop it the next month as ‘too expensive’. She won’t have the time for the training.

Go help someone more receptive and appreciative.

Sorry to say...run from a schmoozer. She sounds like a manipulator in trying to take advantage of you and doesn't see any value or benefits except to schmooze off of you. How would that feel if you let her which you didn't but if you did. Your head will have the words written s u c k e r! If she doesn't sign up for WA, and does it herself then run drop, move over, next. The consensus speaks!

This is a client you politely walk away from.

Think about it, if she isn't even willing to pay you to do the work, do you think she's going to pay to do the work herself?

A client is only a client when they're paying for services you're providing. This is a person asking you to do free work. You're not a charity. :)
