Hi Janet,

I read the comments below, and understand that you created a landing page with MailChimp. In this case, the landing page is hosted with MailChimp. You should be able to access it and view it on the MailChimp platform.

To use the landing page, you should be able to use MailChimp tools to direct people there. E.g. there should be a link you can use. The link can be used on your website, emails or social posts. When people click on the link, they will be led to the landing page.

You can, and should, test this link before sharing it.

All said, Laura is correct. I used to use MailChimp. Until one day my account was suspended. They do not like affiliate marketing. So, when they detect that you are doing affiliate marketing, your account will be suspended.

Solution is to use another mail provider. I use GetResponse now. And no issues because they are ok with affiliate marketing.

Another advice - back up your mailing list immediately, and frequently. Especially if you are thinking of continuing to use MailChimp. You never know when, and for some reason - not always cos of affiliate marketing - they will suspend your account.

So, if you are getting subscribers daily, backup daily. If you are getting subscribers, on every other day, backup weekly. And so on.

Feel free to continue to ask my anything if you have anything else to clarify.

Hi Tim. Thank you for your advice. I didn't know MailChimp can just suspend the account because we are doing affiliate marketing. Then in the first place, they should put a notice say "Affiliate Marketing please don't open account with MailChimp because you are not welcome here!" haha. Instead of wasting our time and effort on their platform.

Look like I have to really start considering to shift to another mail provider before I need to change too much thing on my website.

Thank you!

You're welcome, Janet.

MailChimp does have a clause in their terms and conditions. I too did not realize this until my account was suspended, and I did some research, and found that awful clause.

The clause is actually not very clear. Nested within a whole ton of clauses and text. You have to search and read carefully to find it. Plus, the clause is very broad in definition. It looks like it was written that way so that no matter how you try, you cannot do affiliate marketing with their platform.

After the fiasco with MailChimp, I was careful with the next email provider. I wrote to them, was frank with them, and said I am doing affiliate marketing. And I asked if their system allows?

Finally, I decided on GetResponse because they allowed, and I find their system powerful. It is not free though. You can try for free. Cannot remember the free trial period. After the free trial, you have to pay to use.

I would highly recommend that you do as much as you can during the free trial. Just to see if it matches with your email marketing needs. After that, if decide to continue, there is a monthly payment.

Typically the landing page is the home page. But Laura has left some good advice.

That is a hard question to answer. You can set up a landing page on many platforms. If you set it up in pages on your site then u have to go to pages to see it. If you set it up on an external platform then you will have to link it to something. Like an ad or some type of promotion.

Some set up a home page and call it a landing page. If this is the case then you will need to go into customize and set you settings to static page and link the page to that.

Please let us know more information so we can direct you better.

Hi Laura. I set up under Mailchimp and arrange my landing page to send out to all the audience in my email list. I have one of my own email address in the list for checking purpose. I did not receive anything. But I check from the Mailchimp platform it been published out. So I just wonder where it gone to.

Thank you I understand much better now. This is an issue you would need to contact Mailchimp to find out if you have it all set up correctly.
But I have a word of caution for you. Mailchimp does not like affiliate marketers and affiliate marketing. I used them for a while and could never get any of it to work properly.

I switched to AWeber and have had excellent support and function. There are other autoresponders. Aweber is my top pick but many use others that are equally as good.

Laura

Hi Laura. Thank you for your advice! Actually I'm still struggling to learn how to use Mailchimp platform as sometimes I feel confuse.

Does AWeber come with free member account?

Aweber has a free trial but it is a limited time. There are others that are free. You may want to research it or ask another question about who uses what free autoresponders and how they like them.
Just a thought.

Laura

Hi Laura. Thank you! I will do some research first. Thanks!

it depends on how you have created it - is it on your site or in an autoresponder
if it is on an autoresponder you will need to set up an email shot to alert your list that there is something new and fantastic that you have found - you are sending them other things - useful things in the meantime aren't you...
you may not get many responses if your list is small - but keep going....
have fun

Hey Janet,

Here's what I did: Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Triblu. I will check it out...:-)

I hope you get it sorted, Janet!

Thank you for asking Jeff. I still couldn't sorted it out yet.

you have any plugin contact form to recommend which don't have this problem?

I wish I did, Janet, but haven't yet experienced this problem!

I'm still along for the ride to see if you get some good answers!

Let us learn together..:-)

That's GREAT, Janet! I appreciate that!😊

A great plugin to prevent spam which works with various contact forms is Askimet. If that one's not compatible with your contact form just run a search for something similar - there are lots of contact form spam prevention plugins available :)

Also check your contact form settings, it may have its own spam prevention - such as a captcha code that you can enable :)

Hi Dale. I'm using Contact Form 7. Is Askimet compatiable? How do I know whether the plugin is compatiable or not? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi Dale. I have just do a search for new plugin "Askimet" but it turn up something else.
- TYPO3 tt_news Importer
- P2P Social Networker
- Dunstan-style Error Page
Above is the list turn up when I key the keyword Askimet

Or you have a better plugin contact form with captcha code to recommend so maybe I can switch. Please advise. Thank you!

Akismet* my spelling was wrong, sorry. It's compatible with contact form 7 too :) https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/akismet/

Have anyone try google adsense on your website? And what to do you? Better to use or not to use? Please advise. Thanks!

I did not like it. Just seemed to clutter up and make it less professional. Made my site look like a Nascar with all the ads all over the place. And it pays pennies.

Hi Mark. Thank you for your sharing...:-)

Not yet. When I saw it in the training I wasn't ready to go there and since I've seen a few say that they put ads on their website that didn't suit their niche.

I will be interested to follow your question and see what others say.

Lily 😊

I saw it in the training too. Therefore wanted to get advise and feedback from the community before decide whether have it on my website..:-)

Hi. Can someone advise when is the right time to start a new niche website? Do we have to wait until the first website start bringing income then we start new niche website?

I think it totally depends on if you have the passion to push, or the inspiration to pull you through.

If you are not excited, you will struggle creating content.

This is my challenge. At 62 years of age, I am challenged with finding something that I am passionate about promoting. Quite honestly, I’m interested in getting the SALES. And that is the hardest part.

Hi, thank you for your advise. I'm passion in yoga. However, the niche I have chosen which narrow down to yoga clothes, make me feel restrict that I can only write about yoga clothes. If I write something else about yoga mat, yoga poses, it will be consider out of the niche topic right?

So I wonder by narrow down the niche is it a good idea actually. But I'm being taught to narrow down the niche here.

The niche is not necessarily the “product“.

The niche is more the “culture” of the audience.

A specific type of yoga, (Bikrim or Hatha or Iyengar) and the niche of stay at home moms with children. Or maybe working moms with children. Or maybe women that are attorneys, and enjoy yoga. or maybe only women age 30-45, that teach yoga. Or maybe female entrepreneurs that like yoga.

The reason for working in a niche, is so that you know exactly where to find these people, and how to speak to them.

All of the people in the niche, can use yoga mats, pants, apparel, studios, training, retreats etc.

I hope this helps a little

Hi. Thank you for your explanation to help me to have a better understand of Niche. Just to make sure my understand is correct so in other words I can actually write anything as long as it is about yoga? Not necessary only about yoga clothes?

How about products that I'm trying to sell in my website? My website name is "Janet Yoga Wear". So for products that i'm trying to sell, is it has to be restricted to yoga clothes only? Or I can also sell other yoga products like yoga mat, yoga classes, etc? Please advise. Thanks!

I think that because your title is “yoga wear” you should probably have 80% of your products content about yoga wear, and then you could do 20% about other yoga interests.

The topics can be about yoga classes, yoga retreats, yoga in general, anything that attracts the audience that might be interested in purchasing your “yoga wear”.

You could also do video interviews with yoga teachers, or yoga retreat coordinators.

Thank you! Now I have more things to write...:-)

Thank u! Since that is the case I can just stick on to my current website..:-)

Hi Janet, I think it comes back to time management. If you really have run out of ideas for your first website then perhaps it's time to start a new one.

Maybe you have learnt all you can from this one.

Lily 😊

Hi Lily. Thank you for your advise. I will try another one or two more months on my current website to write something. If after months still cannot come out any ideas, maybe is time to consider start a new website..:-)

So Janet,The first one is like a trial for the rest.

Hi Falex. Thanks. Which mean I can start on new niche website anytime now?

Hey Janet,

If you are able to write two posts a week for more than one website than go for it!

Personally, I find that the more I spread myself out, the less I accomplish. So, I prefer to stick with focusing on one until it has become successful before adding a second site.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Triblu, Thanks for your advise. Actually one of the reason I feel like start a new niche website because I'm running out of idea what to write on my current website. I thought my new idea niche will have more to write about.

So I don't know should I just stick to my current website and keep brain storming of what to write or start a new one.

That decision is all yours to make Janet. We can only offer you help in making your decision.

Thank u for your help by giving me advise...:-)

hey hi Janet -- good question and all questions are good ones here!

well, it's entirely up to you as it's your biz to manage ...

however, for most, it is recommended that one's first website be well-grounded and running to your satisfaction (with enough posts and interested audience engagement & income), then, sure develop another one if you feel up to it ...

all the best to you for every success, cheerio ... :)

Thanks for your advise...:-)
