Hi Shawn - just checked out your site - and it looks great! you have a lot of information on there - i can see you have spent a lot of hours putting all that together - which i am learning is what it is all about - content, content and more content! can i ask how long you have been with WA and have you made sales so far? regards jane

Hi Jane,
Thanks very much for your comments! It is a subject that is very important to me. I have been with WA about 3.5 months now. The sales are slow at the moment but I've been told that it could take up to 6 months before I start to see any. I'm just trying to be patient.
Regards,
Shawn

I'm a week in - and trying to get to grips with actually building the site! can i ask - how do you end up with a page that has lots of different blogs on it? is that how the page ends up looking when you have written a lot of them?

Hi Jane,
Whenever you create a new blog, it just gets added to the home page, along with all the other ones.
Hope that helps!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Hi Kyle thanks for the messages of support - i am thinking for the niche - "becoming a veggie" or along those lines - so i can write about all things veggie and nutrition - is this suitable do you think? also does the domain name i choose have to have the "keywords" in it - as i am thinking of a domain like "plantalicious" but nobody would put that in as a search keyword - they are more likely to put it "becoming a veggie" so does it matter - can i have "plantalicious" as a domain and it will still work? thanks jane

Hi Kyle - another question - when you "move" your website to a .com domain name in the future - will the domain name drop the "siterubix" extension in the name? so it would just show "plantalicious" in the website name for instance?
Reply
JaneStannard Premium
kyle - another one! when i google domain names like "plantalicious" and "goveggie" etc - they are already taken on the WWW - i realise if i use "plantalicious" i will have the "siterubix" extension but can't i be done for copyright on the name/brand?
Reply

Well unless this term is trademarked you can use it. But if you don't feel comfortable with it, choose something different. It is that simple, there are 10,000's of domain variations that you could choose from in any niche. Don't overthink it.

When you choose a domain, you are going to want to choose something that is "brandable" versus something that has keywords within it. The reason this is the case is because as you build out your website, you can target as many keywords as you like within the content (that is how you will rank).

I have created a discussion here outlining the process and what to look for when choosing a domain name: This should help you out here and if you ever want to run any domains by me, simply let me know and I will give you some feedback.

PS. You can host up to 25 of your own domains here within the Premium membership on our state of the art hosting platform. :)

hi kyle - thanks for that - i am confused! i just bought a domain name through you guys veggienerd - now if i go for the free website - does it have to be "veggienerd.siterubix" but if i go premium and import my own domain name it can be "veggienerd dot com" - so without the siterubix extension in the domain name? or will "siterubix" always be in the domain name even if premium? i am keen to get started with building this today - so your earliest reply would be greatly appreciated! jane

You want to build the website directly on this domain, you don't want a free website.

Here is the walk through of the process: Hope this helps you out here. :)

Hi Kyle myWebsite theme -kira lite is not updating or speaking to my back office - when I follow your tutorials your website updates and interacts with your back office however mine isn't - I make changes and nothing changes on the kira website template at all can you please advise - jane

What aspect of your website are you referring to specifically that is not "updating". Are you able to publish content onto your website without issue?

hi kyle - okay websupport guided me on this - it was the home page that wasn't changing - the pages i added where at the bottom in the footer - so didn't see them - i expected the main home page to change like yours did in the tutorial. i do have another question - as i want to change the "services" buttons on the home page - but can't figure out going through the "appearance" menu where to find this - any ideas please?
Reply
Kyle Premium
What is your website URL? It is tough to tell exactly what you are talking about here without any context.
Reply
Kyle Premium
I see the pages you have added to your website (along the top). That looks normal, you can manage these using custom menus.

The homepage you will want to customize through the Appearance => Themes (Customization) for you theme, this might be one of the more difficult themes to use simply because it has a lot more sophistication than others, particularly on the homepage.

thanks Kyle - is there a tutorial i can watch or info i can read on how to change buttons so they are personal to my website - veggienerd.com - also can i ask - what theme have you guys used for your WA website - as i really like that and think it could work for me? also is it possible when i create new pages to have them follow the same format as the home page - as currently the "about me" page is quite plain compared to the home page - thanks!
Reply
Kyle Premium
Those buttons would be part of the theme customization. Same with the new pages (the same format as the homepage), although you would never want that is I actually don't really think the homepage is a very good user experience as it puts LITTLE focus on the content.

Although it looks good, I do feel this theme might lack ease of use as you are starting to have troubles manipulating it already. Every theme is a bit different and you should see the available controls within the Customization section of this theme.

hi kyle - i looked into it bit more and figured it out - if you get a chance - can you let me know what you think of what it looks like so far www.veggienerd.com - i changed the template to zerif now. i shall start to build the other pages of the site now too - more content - understand if you don't have time - you must get a zillion emails a day!

Looks excellent, I really like where you are heading with your site here. The initial framework looks great.

One thing I would mention is adding an image to your about me page.

Hi Kyle - thanks for the positive feedback - its an uplift! spent every spare minute on this so far! getting obsessed! yes i agree about the about me page - but i don't know how to change the template of the new pages i have added in - i thought they would automatically adopt the structure of the home page - but they haven't - they are quite plain. I realise you are in bed now - 8am GMT so i shall look into it throughout my day - but if you have a tutorial you can refer me to - that would be handy!

morning Kyle - me again! i have uploaded a plugin called "duplicate post" (youtubes a winner for self educating!) and it allows me to duplicate post/pages - but not the home page it seems - which is what i want to duplicate! so any advise on what to do next please? in fact the home page template doesn't even show up in the "all pages" menu? so can't select it.
Reply
Kyle Premium
You would never want to duplicate a post. I am not sure what the benefit of that is? I don't feel it is of any benefit to duplicate your homepage either, that makes no sense in terms of your content. Your homepage is unique and your content pages should not look anything like that.
Reply
JaneStannard Premium
Hi kyle I wouldn't be wanting to duplicate the content just the structure of the page so I can have for instance an image across the top width of the page - with a unique image on each page - basically to make the new added pages more attractive than just plain white
Reply
Kyle Premium
You don't want that structure. It is not good for usability or readability. That is what I am getting at here. If you have content on your page, you want that to be the focus.
