Hi

Yes, they get notified with a link. Clicking on that provides them with the possibility of further response. No need of plugin.

Hi Fleeky. We didn't know this and thought a plugin was necessary. We don't think we have ever received such a notification. Presumably, it's from WordPress?

Thanks, Fleeky,
I took Triblu's option and used a plugin.

When I look at my post in WordPress the editing page view and the post page view are entirely different. Not for all posts just for some.

I just wanted to let you know that I fixed this error.

I went into TEXT mode and found a lot of gibberish HTML coding.
So I got rid of it all.

I had another post that was doing the same thing. They were

codes. So I got rid of them as well.

Just thought I would give you a heads up in case it happens to anyone else.

Regards

Janet

You can fix it by ditching the Classic Editor plugin. Or keep the classic editor for editing old posts and create your new posts using the block editor. If an old (72) dinosaur like me can adapt to change then there's nothing to stop a young lass like you.

Thanks, Marion,
I don't know about the young bit. LOL.

Anyway, I will try out the Gutenberg editor. I have not used it since it came out. Maybe I can adapt to it now.

Thanks again

Hey Janet,

If you click on the Preview button from the Edit mode of WordPress than you will see the changes you are making. The changes will not show permanently until you click on Update.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you,
I will try that instead of updating all the time.

This has only started happening since I updated WordPress to 5.2 version the other day.

I also only edit in the classic mode. I have the plugin to do this.

I don't like Gutenburg.

Regards
Janet

You're not alone in not liking Gutenburg, Janet.

Am praying WordPress does not force this upon their users in the near future else I will be seeking an new content management system (CMS).

I have my blog roll set up as a blog in menu's. When I publish a new post it is not showing that recently published post.

Any ideas are welcome.

Hey Janet,

What post should be displayed?

When visiting your website listed under your "Follow Me on" section, I can see "How to increase traffic on your website - Utilising Images" dated February 24, 2019.

If that is not the most up-to-date post you have published, then my next question is, did you publish using a page instead of a post, by mistake?

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for replying.
The post you are referring to is not my latest post. All the posts since then have been published as posts

If you have not yet been able to determine what is causing this issue then please, do contact SiteSupport and let them know of all the different ways you have tried to resolve this issue yourself.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

I would be really interested to know what caused this for myself now.

The issue seems to have resolved itself. I just published another post and it is now working.
Bloody computers LOL.
Thanks for your help and your time.

Janet

Then it most likely is an error with the caching script on the server. Chalk it up to that and, yup... giggle 'cause that's all we can do with issues like this one. Glad it is finally fixed for you.

Thanks Triblu.

Hiya =) I took a look at your blog and see that you have a dedicated 'blog' page in your menu - when you click that 'blog' link in your main menu, do you see your new post? If not, it *could* be a caching issue. Try clicking F5 to clear your cache and see if it shows up then. If that doesn't work, it might be something else going on and we'll all need more details.

Keep up the great work!

Jennifer

I don't know how you set up your menu if there's an automatic way but as far as I know and it's what I'm doing after I posted an article I have to go to the menu and add it in the page where I want it appears.

If you go to Settings >> Reading in the WP back office, do you see a page set as the Posts page as well as one as the Home page.

Thanks for replying phil.
My home page is set as static in the reading pane which is what I want and the posts page is set to blog.
Janet

Where "blog" is another page on your website and the one pointed to in the menu?

pardon, me Phil but I do not understand what you mean.

This is what it looks like

It says your posts page is Blog. This means that you should have an actual page named Blog. This page should appear in your menu.

I was asking if this is how you are set up?

Also it's set to show only 10 posts. Have you tried changing that?

yes

I have that

Can you see any pattern to the posts that are shown and the ones that aren't? Is that affected if you change the number of posts to be shown from 10 to a bigger number?

Tried changing from 10 to 15 but no change

Is there nothing to distinguish the ones that aren't showing from the ones that are? Are they the most recent ones, for example, or are they random?

Have you checked the publication dates to make sure they are correct?

I have a feeling it has something to do with this. See screenshot

sorry wrong screenshot deerrrrrrrrrrr

try this one

Sorry Jan I'm just not seeing the issue. With the page Blog identified as your blog page in Settings >> Reading and then that page set up in your menu, that should be it.

Have you tried going directly to the page, as in https://sitename/blog It should show your blog posts in published order, latest first.

I have a few websites outside WA set up like this with no issues.

That's why I was wondering if the issue could be with the blog posts themselves, like wrong publication date or even published as pages instead of posts. I know, clutching at straws here.

Another thing you could try is temporarily setting your home page to posts instead of static and seeing if they appear.

Thanks so much for your help Phil. I will try the suggestions you made.
Thank you again for your time.
Regards
Janet

Not at all, Janet. I wish I could have been more help.

I think you gave up enough of your time to help me. Thank you again.
Regards
Janet

What is showing when you click on the menu? Some posts, nothing at all, or what?

some posts

Hi Jan, check in WordPress - appearance, that your home page is not set to static...

Thanks for replying.
It is set to static. But I have my blog roll is set in my menu's at the top of my posts. That way visitors can click on the blog in the menu section and be taken to my blog roll.
Regards
Janet

Then that is the problem, you need to create a duplicate home page and set as static and the other renamed as posts.

Hey Janet,

This is odd behaviour to say the least. It is best to contact SiteSupport an offer them as much detail as to what you tried and what results you got, in order that they will be able to help you resolve this issue quicker.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

I have already done that. They cannot delete the code either. They asked me to contact the plugin owner which I did. They suggested clearing my cache, which I did to no avail.

Hi,
I installed a plugin called plugin detective and went through the rigmoral. It deactivated all my plugins. Saves doing it one by one.
I then added plugins one at a time and found the culprit.
It was the starbox plugin not letting me delete code in my insert headers and footers plugin.
I thought you might like to have this information for the future.
Plugin dectective saves a lot of time.

This is GREAT information Janet and Thank YOU for letting me know you solved your issue. See, now you have learned something new (and so have I... thank YOU!). This is how you will become a pro... you're well on your way now! :-))
