Think about the following scenario: You're driving your car, when another car behind you is moving up close. Obviously, they are stressed and want to go faster...

At the first opportunity, said car passes you - and speeds ahead trying to make up for lost time stuck behind you...

Then, several minutes later, you approach a red light. And who's in front of you?

Well, you know it of course: It was the car stressing behind you, passing you, and rushing ahead.

But now, you are both at the exact same spot - only that your journey was relaxed and, most importantly, smooth.

The Reason Why Affiliate Marketing Takes Time To Build Up

I am sure you have experienced that exact scenario multiple times already. And even if it wasn't at a red light, there were other scenarios where you caught up with someone speeding ahead - almost magically.

The truth is that there are always red lights along the journey. There are factors that simply cannot be forced or be sped up.

One of these things is building an audience around your blog. Yes, posting more helps. Yes, writing more helps. And yes... promoting your blog helps also.

But you know what...

No matter how hard you hustle, building up trust with your audience STILL takes time. You cannot skip that. This is the first red light most bloggers, affiliate marketers, and content creators face.

Slowing Down Means...

The title of this article is "Slow Down To Go Fast". I hope the example above gave you an image you won't forget.

Because slowing down was the best advice I have ever received...

I am the kind of person who wants to do everything perfectly... I want to be fully committed... I want to go ALL-IN.

Chances are, as a premium member here on WA, you are like me :D

We're all a bunch of perfectionists here, creating something impactful in our lives and the lives of others!

And while I see "hustlers" left and right, I haven't yet seen any hustler build something that lasts.

Hustlers want to go fast, they feel like everything around them is constantly stopping them...

They are the ones pushing up behind your car and racing past you. But what they don't understand is that the red stop light is waiting - and in the end you and him are at the same spot.

...To Go Fast Means

The true meaning behind "Slow Down To Go Fast" is one word: FOCUS.

Nothing is more powerful than someone working with focus... Almost magically, it makes progress come faster, and results come faster.

But how can you focus on anything when you're racing ahead, running left and right, hustling day in and day out? The answer is that you can't!

Sometimes a hustle is necessary to catch up lost time... but this is a short-term solution and most likely the quality of your work isn't as good as it can be, simply because you had to "crunch it out".

But when you focus on your core tasks, and get into a smooth flow, that's when you do your most powerful work.

So What Should You Do?

Everything that brought me results was as a consequence of me slowing down... and using FOCUS to achieve my goals.

And sadly, I have destroyed many promising projects by running from task to task, doing everything and nothing, while being completely burned out at the end of it. In those failed projects, my hustler mentality deceived me short-term with "busyness" and cheated me long-term with nothing to show for it.

If you are not making (enough) money yet with your affiliate marketing business, I want to encourage you to pick only one or two things to master. Slow down, be steady, create a smooth experience.

As a result, you will see FOCUS take over. And just like magic, you will achieve your results faster than you expected! It's hard to put in words, but when it happens to you I'm sure you will know exactly what I mean with "magic".

These are the steps I follow:

• Work every day. This is crucial. Whether it's 30 min, 1 hour, or more. But do something every day.
• Decide on one or two things that you want to succeed at. Ignore the rest. Is it SEO? Is it Instagram? Is it YouTube? Is it Email? Pick one, maximum two. Drop the rest.
• Take a breath and do what you can. Appreciate the work you CAN do today, and be excited to continue tomorrow.
• Don't beat yourself up for not doing it ALL today... or this week... or even this month.
• Instead, focus on taking steps every day - no matter how small. Celebrate your discipline. Become smooth in what you do.
• Find peace in knowing that you will work every day, simply one step at a time. That's how you slow down to go fast.
