as I begin to add posts to my site, they all appear sequentially with the whole content showing. Is there a way to configure my site so it shortens each post and utilizes "read mo

That is actually an ideal format. Your home page gets updated with fresh content consistently, and it doesn't load a massive page of 10,000 words when someone lands on the home page.

If you want a static welcome page, Marine Mom has the training for you (see the other comment here). If you really do want long-form blogs on your home page, go to Settings > Reading and change it to full text. However, this will only work with some themes.

Nathaniel, your suggestion on the ideal format is exactly what I desire. Thanks for your comprehensive response as you answered my question by describing the full text option, which is what I am trying to change.

Ah. I see I misread the original statement! my fault. So just go to Settings > Reading and change it to excerpt/summary :)

If that doesn't work, try this: If that doesn't work, it's the theme that's causing you issue, in which case you should switch themes.

let me know if it works.

Thanks

this information will help you out.
