I think therefore i am
Believing in yourself is so important because if we do not believe we can do something, most definitely we can't.
I will put it this way.
Everything starts with a thought. My favourite is "I THINK THEREFORE I AM"
Before you get out of bed in the morning it starts with a thought, it is as simple as that.
This reminds of a true story I was told years ago. This was told to me by a friend about her aunt.
There was this lady who was involved in a serious car accident and was in a coma. The doctors basically wrote her off.
After a few months she recovered fully and the doctors were very surprised at her full recovery after being in a coma for so long.
When a family member informed her of what the doctors had said and that they were all surprised at her full recovery. She replied.
She could her the doctors and nurses talking about her whilst she was in her coma and she did not like the fact that they were talking so negatively about her condition. She also mentioned that she had heard family members crying and talking negatively about her.
She could not respond and tell them that she could hear them and at times she just wanted them to shut up.
She them made her mind up to prove them wrong and decided that she would exercise in her mind. She would do tai chi as often as she could. And this is what got her through.
She would see herself doing tai chi, she could see herself, feel herself doing tai chi and that is what got her through.
The power of thought, how amazing is that. Just brilliant.
If you say you can, you will and if you say you can't you will. You will always be right.

The Power of Our Minds is a true gift... And should not be taken passively. What an amazing tool for me and anyone suffering from a chronic illness. It's #1 in my tool-kit for survival... choosing to think positive... On purpose.
I use the "C" word ( can't ) carefully because I know that if I can't, I won't, but if I think I can, then I will. The mind is like a battlefield but we can choose who wins! :)
Hi
You are so on the right path.
I once read about about the battle of the mind, it stated that the biggest battle is in our own minds.

I remember a few years back when working as a therapist in another rehab hospital with people who had head injuries (and spinal cord injuries).
A few times I saw where a patient was "written off" as having poor to absent rehab potential but did recover and make remarkable progress - proving most everyone wrong.
The lesson here - it does not matter what other's think. Unless you allow other's negative attitudes and opinions to have control over you, what they think or say cannot and should not affect you.
The lady you speak of in the story above illustrates that quite well. She made the choice to listen to her own voice and not the erroneous voices of others. :-)

This is an amazing story. I bet she felt amazing being able to get back to herself and prove the doctors wrong! :) god bless her and you for sharing :)
Hi
Actually she was more concerned about getting herself out of the hospital. She is such an amazing woman and has such a lovely nature, she thanked to medical team for looking after her and her family for visiting her. She only told the story to my friend because she spoke to her as if she were awake and not in a coma.

They say that your sense of hearing is the last thing to go...and hers was still intact! She could have easily given up listening to all that negativity, but instead, it inspired her to come back. The power of the human spirit never ceases to amaze.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful story!

Yes my friend. Nothing is more powerful than your mind.
