When I give/post my url.. should I do xxx.com or xxx.siterubix.com?

I am using the free domain from the starter kit... but I have yet to publish anything... but I have selected a theme and settle on a name for my site....
Then you are using the siterubix.com. Sounds like you are on your way. Just go through the training step by step...don't skip around, take good notes, watch the videos and ask questions if you need help.
That search bar at the top of the page is my WA BFF. You will be able to find a lot of great articles there.

When I use site rubix to create my free website... I find the theme given are all Wordpress.. so I am wondering if I am doing an actual website to promote my business or a blog

All our websites at WA use WordPress as the content management system. The core lessons at WA teaches how to write articles and blog to gain free traffic. However, you can develop a website without blogging and just use the publishing, management, and addins (plugins) in WordPress that make it easy to develop and manage a website. You would just publish static pages vs. blog posts. However, any website will greatly benefit from having a blog in my opinion as giving customer the ability to get to know you and interact with you helps build your brand. Not to mention the added bonus of attracting more visitors by blogging the way Wealthy Affiliate teaches.
I hope my explanation makes sense and was helpful.

1) WordPress is the 'back end' of any website at SiteRubix or WA, and not necessarily imply that the blog aspect has to be primary.
2) That being said, a decent portion of the training revolves around content driven traffic, and the blogging tools do play into that.

The sites are blog sites. Some people use static landing pages, but the home page is always a blog. You can build a menu and develop a website as well as write blog posts.
