Hey, all. I'm not really sure if I've put this question in the correct classroom. I'm in the process of building my website - specifically, I've just written my about me and p

Thanks for the pointers, everyone. This all feels unnecessarily complicated.

Hi - WordPress is not a click and drag system. You need to click on the image to have the option to move it left, center or right.

All images have to be copyright-free. You can find them on sites such as Pexels, Pixabay or Unsplash.

As DMahen1 mentioned, within wordpress the only options are within text left, center, within text right, and left. I have also found that different themes do different things regarding where the image actually ends up when you view the post, and how neatly the text wraps around an image.

I found the Generate Press theme to work well with images in that the images stay where you put them during editing.

If you are looking for a more structured way of setting up your posts, with images or graphics, then Elementor is a great plugin to use. The basic version is free and as with most things an upgraded version is available for a fee. You can do a lot with the basic version though.

I use canva.com for images. They offer a free trial, and then a monthly membership gets you access to quite a few images. Some images can be purchased individually. Canva is also great for creating customized blog post header images.

In some cases I input images into powerpoint to crop, or add filters and such. Its a bit of an archaic approach, but I don't have any fancy photo editing software.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Perhaps a Wordpress guru and give a better anser, but I find that Wordpress will allow you to set and image right, left, or center. Plant your cursor where the image will use "add media" to select or upload and image.

Hi folks! I spent about two hours yesterday thinking this out. I've been candid, honest and frank (apart from using a pseudonym. I'd be glad to hear your opinions. Thank you

Nice one Jack, I love your words. As Mark said below, images would be a huge benefit, especially with your niche. Must talk to my parents in-law about beigism. They never have got to grips with my bright & warm colors. I guess beige is safe; let's not be safe!
Steve C

Good start but how about some images? Maybe show a drab living room then an image of what the same room looks like with different colors. A picture is worth a thousand words.

That sounds pretty good, but I prefer using my name for my sites--I do,; however use a pseudonym when writing my novels! I guess it's your preference though and I'm sure you have your reasons!

You might also want to express your opinion on why these items are "hot" and the way they could enhance your living or office space.

I'd love to be able to do that. But I don't know how. I've not much in-depth knowledge on interior decor, just a passion for it. and an eclectic taste.

There are all sorts of sites that you can research to give you some ideas on where to get started. Just follow the training and it will help you with your questions. research, research and more research.
Jerry

That's what I would do Jack, but as Diane says--Quality content relating to that is key!

Jeff

What if I'm absolutely rubbish at writing but have a passion for the thin I'm trying to promote? Kyle says you just need to be able to communicate well. But I'm not sure how exactly that translates into good content.

Cheers

Trial and error, my friend--as you write more you'll get better and you'll recognize what needs to be changed as you go along! Practice makes perfect!

Jeff

Hi - you need to write content to attract visitors to your site. Otherwise, you will be just yet another shop among the millions already out there. Plus, that is how Google decides where to place you in its rankings, based on how valuable and relevant your information is.

hey hi Jack & welcome to Wealthy Affiliate Premium!

Good question and all questions are good ones here!

Here's a post by Kyle where he discusses of how you can become an authority online in your selected niche -- many have found it very helpful and hopefully this will be of assistance in answering queries ... all the best to you ... cheerio ..... :)

I would have a look on Pinterest and see what other people are promoting. It's a good platform to have a look at because it's visual. You can also look in the homeware department of Walmart and Amazon

Hi all!
I've been on the platform for a couple of weeks now, and I'm stuck on choosing a nice, as I think my interests are too esoteric. If I list them here, can I ask if an

With research you can be an authority in any of those particular niches and build a well established income from the one you choose.
Jerry

It might be worth checking Google and seeing how other websites are monetizing.
Searching for other content can throw up so many other ideas.

i think what you are struggling with is the fact that most of those are topics.
as Jeffrey says with the medeival history - that topic is huge - is there any part of it that really interests you.
same with antiques - any period or type of antique
use Kyles 'i want to help people with ________'
try typing these into jaaxy in the alphabet soup tab and see what comes up
then try these results in google trends t see how popular they are
then go through the - choose 5 sections of the niche and think of 5 articles you could write in each section.
if you struggle it may not be the niche for you - or you may need to do more research first.
but for the first one try to pick something you can write all day about and just go with it.
go through the training and learn the business model.
then while doing this you may come across something you really want to hep people with.
have fun

don't spend too long seecting one or you may get paralysis by analysis ( well this one might be better or even this one, don't worry we have all done it - but you can always come back to something else in the future)

Hi. Thanks for the fantastic advice! I don't know if there is anything I know enough about to be able to produce a decent article. Could that be a problem?

thats what research is for - choose one which may keep your interest for say a year and go with that one
typ into google the niche and see what the drop down box show - is there anything that might be a smaller niche - if so click on that and again see if there is a smaller niche -or add 'for' so jazz music for and see what comes up.
you will need to take your niche and think of 5 section - then in each of these 5 sections you need to think of 4 possible topics to write about.
this gives you the barebones of your site.
now it's keyword research and content generation.
take your time- but not too much - you need to keep up momentum.
have fun
phil

I think its something we all wrestle with. For instance on your Medieval history you might could narrow it down to a smaller time period. Just a thought!
