Free Speech To Text Software And Other Breakthroughs In SWAG

So here we are again. This is my weekly blog post as requested by Kyle in his action points of the Super Affiliate Challenge.

I've been reading a lot of post this week about speech to text software and as I've never used this before let me tell you it is a revelation!

I read a post this week about using the Dragon Speech To Text software and I think this costs about $250. As I didn't know whether this would suit me or not, I decided to look for free versions and, as luck would have it, Craig aka Labman had already written a post about this and he reminded me about the speech to text facility within google drive. So, this is what I'm using to write this post.

It still feels rather strange to talk to the computer and then see my words turn up on the screen and I have to admit feeling slightly self-conscious about talking but wow, what a difference it makes to the amount of words you can ‘write’

This is going to be so useful especially in the super affiliate challenge, to write 12000 words per month or 12 articles and I'm well on track to reach that target this month

I started wealthy affiliate 5 years ago as a complete and utter newbie and there are times when I still feel a complete and utter newbie but this year with a super affiliate challenge I've been able to see how far I've come on my journey.

I think I became a little complacent with writing articles and they started to become quite 'samey' and I hate to admit it but 'boring'. The challenge of writing posts of a thousand words or more at first sounded just impossible but actually now my articles are more relevant, interesting and detailed and it's made me realize how much I do know about internet marketing and creating a website etc.

I enjoy being in live chat and helping those people who are in the same position that I was 5 years ago where everything is a complete mystery and I know if they just a stick with it they'll have a successful online business.

I thought I would have such little time left in my day trying to complete Kyle's tasks but actually having a focus makes everything much easier to control. I have an action plan and know exactly what I've got to do each day. I always make sure that I've got some days for catch up and I don't put too much into my days because I found filling up my days and then not being able to carry out all the tasks was quite disheartening. So, now I have some items that I do every single day as well as extra tasks and I'm completing so much more work it's amazing really

One of the best things that I've learnt this year is to break down the tasks like Kyle says. I spend a day looking for keywords and a day creating headlines and a day creating sub heading within those articles. Then when I start to write an article the skeleton is already there and all I have to do is fill in the blanks. Job done!

The super affiliate challenge has meant 2018 has started off with me hitting the ground running and I don't want it to stop yet I like the momentum and wanted to carry on.

Thank you Kyle I love the course and hope to see you in Vegas next year

Jackie

I use Dragon. It's useful, not perfect and takes some time getting used to it. I have also noticed that my brain processes information differently depending on whether I am typing or using speech recognition. It is most useful to be more conversational with one's writing.

Hi Mark
Have you used the Google Drive Speech To Text option.
I wondered how it compared to Dragon
I agree with you about 'being more conversational' when writing for the web.
Jackie

What a post Jackie, thank you so much.

My compliment for your 5 years and for all coming.

Anne

Thank you, Anne

Good luck Jackie and congrats on speech recognition.

Thanks Nick
It’s a new experience
Jackie

I'm going to try it, thanks for sharing the info!

Hello Janelle
It might change the way you write your posts.
Thanks for the comment

Wow, Jackie, what a fabulous post! Congratulations on your 5 Years here! Thanks for mentioning Craig's post on the Free Speech to Text facility in Google Drive. Definitely going to check that out. You rock.

Hi Lauren
I'd recommend giving it a try. You can't lose anything can you?
Thanks for the comment:)
Jackie

I admit that I haven't used talk to text yet. Mostly because I feel that my words flow more naturally from my fingertips than from my mouth. I might have to give it a try though.

Thanks and take care

Hi Michelle
I've always been a writer and love the process but the speech to text software has given me a new lease of life when it comes to my posts.
I would recommend giving it a try.

I'm on Mac OS so I've been using their built-in Dictation and Text to Speech program for some time. Not only does Text to Speech help with research and having articles read to me but also read back my own articles to me to check grammar and flow.

Hey Phil, I use Macs as well, I didn't even know there was a dictation option!!
Jackie

Thanks for sharing your experience with this! Do you find you have a lot of editing to do with the speech to text software?

Hi Dianne
I've had to add puctuation and get rid of any superfluous sentences but all in all it doesn't take as long as writing a whole post.
I don't know if you can get software that adds punctuation. In my case it would be good to find some software who stop you when you start to digress!!
Thanks
Jackie

I haven't found a free speech to text software that can cope with my Aussie accent. Google docs could not cope with the word "affiliate" so I gave up.

Hi Marion,
I thought you could 'train' some software to recognize your voice or maybe I dreamt it!!

I think the expensive ones can be trained but the free ones seem to be a bit limited. Please tell me I'm wrong! Please, please.

I love speech to text software. I use it all the time, especially when you are on the beach relaxing and want to write something. lol

Oooh, that'a good idea.
Just need to get onto a beach now:)
Thank you
Jackie

You'll enjoy it. I am using it this weekend @ Daytona bike week.
