Why Buzzwords Are Best Left Alone!

Buzzwords are the new saviors of many digital marketing challenged people. If a number of digital marketers are questioned about the difference between dark posts and targeted ones on social networking sites, not many may come up with a positive reply. The differences between a number of concepts like SEM and SEO, user experience and segmented experience, eCommerce and conversion rates might not be very clear to many. Again, concepts like analytics and performance metrics of particular campaigns might be equally vague to another set of people. These people are either unaware of the concepts or incapable of understanding and using them.

Opting for buzzwords

All the above-mentioned words are related to the timeline. In the case of digital marketing, the technology has evolved hugely, offering advantages like a call to action and text messaging. It also optimizes the methods through which maximum conversion can be reached. Additionally, the technology can also convert the results into quantities to judge the same conversion rate. The basic idea is to reach higher rates of conversion through various new and old methods. However, companies that are incapable of bringing in such strategies into play opt for buzzwords in order to take away the focus from the developing ideas and leaving their clients in the dark.

Agencies that disguise

Many new age digital marketing agencies are unaware of the current trends, but they try to appear digitally savvy with the help of buzzwords. They are in actuality old advertising agencies that are attempting to evolve as digital marketing ones albeit without the right know-how. There are also several dying digital marketing agencies that are unaware of the differences, but want to woo the customers all the same. The segment also includes companies that have fallen behind the evolving concepts and are frantically trying to re-enter the loop. They organize various kinds of seminars to stay in the rat race and often repackage and rename the old concepts with newer names to misguide clients. Many of these organizers may be unaware of the concept of Search Engine Optimization.

What consists proper digital marketing?

Real life digital marketers always interact with the audience and clients and attempt to engage and finally convert them. They try to grasp what conversion means to their business and how it is visualized by them. For instance, conversion for a company through eCommerce will not be the same for a company working in the B2B marketplace. In the B2B market, conversion is the result of the long-term relationship. The digital marketplace functioning on eCommerce will function in a completely different way. Smart marketers of today prefer understanding the client’s needs rather than trying to guide him differently.

Conclusion

Buzzwords do not guarantee results! Neither do they throw light on a firm’s competency. They do not help in determining the result of a particular marketing campaign either. In fact, they should be avoided as much as possible because they are incapable of serving the objectives and goals of a company at all.

Love this -- people think buzzwords make them look like they know what they are doing. They serve to muddy the waters and confuse potential clients -- I hate buzzwords! Thanks for writing!
