The TRUE Measure of Success

I'm often asked "Steve, how much money do you make per month?" Quite often, in fact. Maybe a little too often.

I hate this question because A. It's fairly rude! and B. Income "proof" is easily faked.

Instead, what I like to share are my photos from trips we've taken around the world. These can't be faked and it does prove that I'm able to live the lifestyle I often talk about.

Here are a few of my previous posts in case you've missed some of them...

12 Months of Travel

I've Got the Freedom to Work Anywhere in the World

Where I've Been Lately (Spoiler: Ireland)

The Greatest Perk Internet Marketing Has to Offer

Photography is easily my biggest hobby, second only to travel. Good thing they go hand-in-hand as this allows me to share my travels with all of you.

Mind you, I didn't join Wealthy Affiliate last year, or even the year before that. I joined back in 2009 and have been busting my butt ever since.

We recently just got back from a long trip. Amanda and I spent most of March in Los Angeles and Hawaii on the Big Island and Maui. I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the trip.

The first few days were spent around LA. We got to see some interesting sights around Venice Beach...

And the Santa Monica Pier...

Before heading to the Big Island to see the still active volcano...

And again at night...

We were able to walk through the now-cooled lava tubes as well...

And then we were off to Maui. If you've read any of my posts in the past, you'll know I have an unhealthy obsession with taking whale tours...

But I mean, come on, how could you not...

We did spend some time off the water. Here's Amanda and I at the end of one of our hikes where we found a heart-ish shaped rock...

It's also not Hawaii without a few waterfalls...

And honestly, nothing beats a Maui sunset...

They're unbelievably gorgeous.

The trip wasn't all pleasure either. We did plan the trip to meet another WA member.

That's DomW. He joined Wealthy Affiliate through me way back in 2012 and we've really been friends ever since. He did blog about the trip from his perspective here: Meeting My Mentor in Maui

It was an honor to finally meet him. I had been offering him guidance since he's joined, and these days he's inspiring ME. I even find myself turning to him for advice these days. Funny how that works.

Being able to meet Dom in Maui proves one thing really:

My story isn't unique.

And that's a good thing.

It just means that any one currently reading this post is more than capable of creating the life they want to achieve. Dom and I aren't special. We're hard workers. We know what we want to achieve in life and don't stop until we're there.

Always remember that.

Wonderful pictures could almost feel the warmth of the sun,, could do with a bit of it in Scotland..they say pictures speak a thousand words and you do not need to display numbers the fact you can work and travel like this says it all

I hear ya on the sun. We live in Pittsburgh and we just got home a few days ago. It was snowing when we got back and MORE snow is hitting us this weekend. Haven't seen the sun yet either! Makes me wonder why I ever left...

lol the cold and the snow I can get on with its the damp that chills the bones I expect you will be working on another trip , my plan for the future is to get some sun in the winter not too hot mind you I like staying in Scotland when the nights are light lol

It is not a heart shaped rock as it is a heart shape hole in a rock. A bit like our heart shaped reef in the great barrier reef in Australia.

Whoops! You're quite right Tom. Glad to know everyone is reading every line of my post though :)

It's the thought that counts. :)

It made for a nice picture at least haha

I'm glad we're more open about a lot of things, but some things should stay private.

I remember when asking someone what kind of job they had was just never done. It was taken as a way to size someone up without getting to know them. As for asking about pay, that definitely would have crossed a sacred line.

That said, your pictures show us all that's needed. Congratulations!

LOL if you remove the Internet from the scenario, you'd never introduce yourself to someone and then ask them how much money do they make in the next breath. Funny how the screen between us makes people think that is OK.

A great post like this is a good way to respond to the money question. Super photos. Thanks Steve.

Thanks for reading!

For lack of a better cliche - That's just too cool for school! BTW, I really miss Venice. Lived there for 8 years.

I loved it out there (well, maybe not real estate prices...) and I know I'll be back there soon enough. Venice was awesome.

Thanks, I really enjoyed reading that!

You're welcome Daniel!

This is great motivation to stick with this program. Thanks for sharing!

For sure! Thanks for viewing!

Thanks, Steve for sharing those beautiful pictures. I think the true measure of success is not how much money you make, the true measure is freedom to enjoy the full lifestyle.

Agreed. Money is nice, but the freedom and flexibility to do what you want is much, much nicer.

Beautiful pictures and I love the way to show us not tell us your success!
Thanks
Sheila

It's the best proof that I have! And I'm not that talented with Photoshop lol

Great post!

Thanks for taking the time to read Stuart :)

Your story is pretty inspirational!

Like I said, it's not even unique! Hard work and determination got me here.
