Tips To Stay Motivated When Things Are Not Going Your Way

Last Update: February 26, 2021

Hey guys and gals! I hope you're having a great Friday!

I know I'm not haha, which is why I wanted to share this post with those of you who tend to lose motivation when things get thought and rough.

And they do from time to time. That's how it is in business and in life in general. You can't always win, but you don't have to sink down in misery when you're not winning.

I personally use a lot of different techniques to keep my head above the water when my business is seemingly going down.

I use the word seemingly because things are not always as they appear.

If you work on your business consistently, despite the fact it might appear to be going down, it's not actually. In most cases, it's just the silence before the storm of good things that are coming your way.

And until they do, you must stay calm and positive.

So without further ado, if you need some PRO tips on how to stay motivated when things are not going your way, keep reading this post...

Tip #1 - Have A Rock Solid Game Plan And Stick To It

Goals are hard to reach. And goals without a plan are just a wish.

So before we even start, I hope that you have a plan of action, a business plan, bullet points, or any other form of a plan for your business.

And if you do have one, when things get tough and rough, all you have to do is stick to your game plan and eventually, you'll get back on track.

I like to use analogies when explaining stuff so let's roll one here.

For example, top sports teams and players always have a rock-solid game plan which is one of the main reasons why they are at the top of their respected games.

You might think it's a talent, or they're some sort of aliens, but it's not like that.

All top athletes have game plans that they use to win games. Just ask any coach in the world of sport what is his or her top strategy to lift his team back up after losing a game and he will agree with me.

It's simple. They go back to the gym and work on their game plan and in 99% of the cases, they come back stronger than ever.

So if you have a game plan that has been working well for you in the past, just go over it, keep working on your craft, and stay positive.

You can't always control your circumstances, but you can control your actions!

Tip #2 - Visualise Positive Results In Your Mind

Another great tip for staying motivated when things are not going your way is a visualization of positive results.

As Napoleon Hill said in his book "Think and Grow Rich": "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can and will achieve."

One of the best techniques to conceive positive results when things are rough and tough is relaxation and visualization.

And no, you don't have to climb the top of the mountain and wait for some miracle vision to enlight you.

All you have to do is sit back in your living room or any other cosy and quiet place, take 10-15 deep breaths, let your body and mind relax completely, and slowly start visualizing great results.

See more traffic. Visualize more sales. See yourself helping people who need your help. Visualize things running smoothly and before you know it, they will.

Once again, if you're into sports, this is what most top athletes use to stay confident in their game when they lose a few.

Tip #3 - Read And Watch Inspiring Books And Videos

If you have troubles visualizing positive results, which might occur, especially if you're a beginner, you could try reading and watching inspiring books an videos.

YouTube is a huge library of great motivational videos.

Also, you can download 100's books on your phone and read a few lines whenever you feel demotivated.

This little trick will help you a lot as well.

Tip #4 - Exercise To Release The Stress

When things are not going your way, you become tense and stress starts to build up in your mind and body. And the more you let it build up, the worse for you.

One of the best ways to decompress your mind and body is physical exercise.

I'm not going to bother you with why it is because it just is and we all know that.

I jog 3 times a week and I exercise my body for 30-60 minutes almost every single day, and I suggest some form of physical exercise as well.

Exercise helps me to let go of thoughts about negative results that might be appearing at the moment and focus on my game plan and everything good that I do with my online business.

You don't have to hit the weights and turn into a gym-beast all of a sudden.

However, a daily walk or a light jog around the neighbourhood by yourself or with a dog, or with the wife of the husband or with the friend will do you a lot of good and help you to keep your head above the water when things are rough and tough.

Not only that but also, you'll improve your overall health!

So two bird with one stone :)

Tip #5 - Don't Complain About It

Most people tend to complain about their difficulties and problems to their friends, family members, or their pets. This is perfectly normal human behaviour.

However, complaining is just like taking Aspiring when you have a headache.

It's not going to help you to eliminate the cause of the headache. It just covers up the symptoms. And it's just a matter of time before it appears again.

I'm not saying that you do, but when you're complaining about a seemingly negative situation, you're giving more power to those negative thoughts and are creating more of the same, which could get you in a downward spiral.

And usually, it does. Just observe the world around you. Most people seem to be complaining about the same things over and over and over again.

And what do they get as a result? More and more of the same over and over again.

So if you're getting seemingly negative results with your business, just use one of the four tips from the above and eliminate the negative pattern before it takes over!

Tip #6 - Take A Break And Just Relax

Sometimes, all you need is a break to forget about everything and recuperate.

I mean, we all do! No matter how much you're passionate about what you do, and how much you love your work, you simply can't be on it 24/7/365.

Sometimes, negative results are a signal to stop, drop, and relax :)

While taking this break, you can use any of those first four tips from this post to improve your mental game and the physical game as well.

And if you do so, you'll do yourself a great favour because once you gather yourself together, you'll come back stronger than ever and ready to rock and roll.

Conclusion - Let the Game Come To You

I'm a big sports fan.

One of my favourite advice came from Michael Jordan when he said to Kobe Bryant "Don't force the game, kid. Let the game come to you."

Kobe did exactly that and thanks to this advice, he was what he was and actually still is one of the BEST athletes that this world has ever seen (RIP Mamba).

I used to force things all the time, and sometimes I still do because I want the results so bad.

But you can't force life to give you what you want just because you want it right now. You have to work for it, stay positive, do your best, and eventually, the game (life) will come to you.

It will. It always does :)

Good morning Ivan,

Thank you for another excellent blog post, I think most of us can relate to your post.

I hear you regarding a plan, we have to have a plan and we need to stick to it. We also need to avoid distractions as distractions slow our plan down. Apparently, it takes about 20 minutes to get back on track after we are distracted. I can relate to this, it may be a phone call or someone asking a question, it's still a distraction.

I believe that a positive mind brings positive results. If we think negatively, we are not going to strive, if we think positive, we will thrive!

I hear you regarding books and videos et cetera. I have an off-line business and I'm privileged to be able to listen to YouTube and audiobooks. There is some great motivational stuff on YouTube and we can learn so much from successful people. I also subscribe to audible and listen to some great motivational books and success stories.

I even listen to Wealthy Affiliate training when I am working my off-line business!

To me, exercise is a great way of beating stress and taking a break. I don't have a dog at the moment, I used to thoroughly enjoyed taking my German Shepherd for a walk across the fields. As a countryman, I enjoy every aspect of the countryside, so walking in the fields is a massive plus point for me.

I have to admit it's not quite the same walking the fields without a dog, however, I feel there will be another German Shepherd coming soon!

I think we are all guilty of having a moan from time to time, I have to say that I'm guilty of it, but not proud of it! I do like your example regarding the headache, this is so true!

As much as we want to move forward with any business, it's so important to take breaks. I believe that I can achieve more in 5 to 6 days than I can for seven days. The human body was not created to work seven days a week 365 days a year.

I definitely agree with being a premium member Ivan, if we are serious about making money online, we definitely need to be a premium member or even a premium plus member!

Thanks again for the very inspiring blog post, just a few thoughts from me!

Hey Roy, thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. I hope you'll get another dog very soon. German Shepards are the best!

You're right, you can do a lot more work working 5-6 per week than you can if you go without any breaks. Sooner or later the body and mind will burn out and relapse.

Yeah, Premium membership is a must for anyone who is serious about making money online. It's the best deal there is and above all, it works!

Thanks again for your comment and best of luck! :)

Good morning Ivan,

A very happy Sunday to you!

I am glad you are a fan of German shepherds, they are beautiful dogs, I have owned two of them. Both were extremely loyal and had excellent temperaments.

I agree with you regarding premium membership, you are a great example that the premium membership works, Ivan.

Enjoy your weekend.

Great informative post Ivan about staying motivated!

We always have days when we wake up feeling a bit down and unmotivated to get much done.

Personally I'm a big fan of exercising to release any stress or self doubt.

It could be when walking outside with my postpup or hitting the treadmill at home for an hour or so every day, my head and general wellbeing improves substantially so I'm able to concentrate again on the tasks at hand.

It's also important to stick to that game plan you have set out for yourself and most certainly take a break and rest when it's required.

Enjoy your weekend my friend.

I guess we could throw in the towel and invest highly in a platform that takes care of everything for you to start making money, but a lot of us dont have money to invest highly, besides, we wouldnt learn anything by having it all done for us. Ecellent post.

Personally, I prefer learning how to do things by myself as well. I would only pay others to do work for me when I’m already successful at it.

Thanks for sharing your comment and best of luck :)

I absolutely love this. Visualizing is one of my favorites and it HELPS BIG TIME. Crazy how quickly feelings change when you do it, and what you attract back to you at the same time. Keep up the great motivating messages my friend :)

It all starts within the mind and visualization is indeed the best way to change your thoughts and attract the desired outcome. It may take a while some times, and some other times, it's as quick as a flash.

Will do exactly that, my friend! Thanks for your comment and best of luck :)
