SOS (Shiny Object Syndrome) and How to Avoid It

Hi guys and gals! I hope everyone is having a great day.

I've been thinking about my journey here at WA and with affiliate marketing and have remembered how I lost a lot of time in beginning chasing shiny objects.

You see, affiliate marketing offers unlimited opportunities, which means that there are tons of cool, great, shiny, and helpful products out there.

We're bombarded with ads and commercials every day about this great product or that excellent service so it's hard to make a smart (your own) decision in those conditions.

Naturally, if you are driven to earn with affiliate marketing, you want to sell them all. At least, that's what happened to me :) I saw so many great products to market, but the problem was, I only had two hands.

I lost a lot of time chasing those objects, and as a result, I achieved very little success (financially).

So I took a break and asked my self how to stop this and how to achieve maximum success with affiliate marketing.

The answer was simple. I've decided to focus all my power on one product that is proven to convert. I've done some research on a few products and have chosen the one that showed the best results.

Then, I've thrown away all those other products, companies, and their shiny objects and simply kept my self busy marketing just one product.

The results were great!

All my efforts started to pay off, and now, I have the formula for all those other great products and services that I want to market in the future.

The formula is, one step at the time.

Now, we are all different. I personally have a hard time to focus on more things at once, so I've chosen to focus on one product at the time.

Some other people like to have fun with one project for a few days and with the second projects for the rest of the week.

But the point remains the same, don't chase them all at once.

Simply pick one or two that you're most passionate about, make sure they convert, create a strategy, and put a lot of work into it.

Eventually, your results will start showing, and you'll realize that you can rinse and repeat this process as much as you want and market (one by one) all those other cool products and companies.

I personally keep a list of products for future projects.

But I'm focused on one goal at this moment. As soon as I reach the stage where I can put my current project on autopilot, I'll invest time and resources into other products as well.

This kind of thinking has helped me to "cure" SOS and to achieve results.

SOS is dangerous for success. So if you are a beginner who can't decide which direction to choose, make sure to stop, and follow this advice.

Once you find your perfect one, my advice is to put all your energy into that one campaign until you reach success. As long as you keep pushing forward, you'll eventually reach it.

After that, the sky is the limit. :)

Your friend,

Ivan

You’re welcome Joseph. I hope my advice is helpful :)

I did exactly the same at the start Ivan.
Only it was training, whatever it was I needed to do it, trying to jump ahead faster. But I wasn't doing the main training. Was also spending all other time available on here reading and replying to every blog post I got a notification for.
Wasted about 3 months or so. It was a blog post that made me realise I wasn't focusing on what I was really here for, building a business. Oooops.

Yup, it's a common thing because after all, this is almost like a social media platform, so people forget to focus on their business.

I take a break every few days to hang out here and share the experience. But most of the time, I keep my focus on growing my business :)

I couldn't agree more with you!

Many people feel the same problem and find themselves in the same situation without even realizing it.

It's important to get educated on all other "gurus" that try to make a living pushing shiny objects aka products that could make you a fortune without any consistency or hard work.

But it's also important not to spread yourself too thin working on too many projects at the same time!

Svaka čast! Sad sam vidio da si Hrvat, i ja sam :D

It's great to see you understand the process. It applies to all niches and all products, so it's important to learn how to avoid it.

I guess the best teacher is the experience LOL.

Pozdrav brate! Drago mi je vidjeti te ovdje :)
