Hi Isaiah! I had a name change to an already website too. I also had a lot of content and a lot of work put into it.

I had to buy a new domain name. Since I did not want to mess up I contacted support gave them the new domain name and they changed it within 24h.
As for the affiliate, I just went into my profile/accounts at the affiliate programs and changed the name, since its still the same site with the same content.

Great! Thanks for the advice! Site Support helped me out. It's the affiliate programs that I was concerned about the most. I'm about to contact them. Thanks a lot!

I would definitely notify the affiliates, they have no idea that you have changed domain names.

Thanks Joseph! - I'm going to notify them.

the move will copy the content over - along with all the setup and sort out the redirection....
leave the original domain here for at least 30 days after the move and all the redirection should have taken place - you are then free to do whatever you want with that domain....
i think all the links should be migrated across- can't remember - but one thing i do remember is the email address in your privacy policy or other pages will not be changed....
hopefully you will get it sorted - talk to sitesupport about your options
good luck
phil

Thanks for the feedback, Phil. My main question is, do I need to submit that new domain to the affiliate programs that I've already joined?

I'm also inquiring with Site Support. Thanks!

you may need to add it to the affiliate programs - you will need to check - i know amazon you can add other sites - so check with your affilaite programs terms...

Thanks! I'll check with them.

I received an email from Google Search Console stating the following:

Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Events issues:

Top Errors<

I manage to resolve this issue. Site support provided assistance through the Google Structured Data Testing tool.

I manually added these event attributes to my theme to resolve this issue. I validated them through the Structured Data Testing Tool (screenshot below), and I'm just waiting for the crawl in Google Search Console to validate the fixes - it could take a few days.

Events:
https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/event

Examples of structured data:
http://linter.structured-data.org/examples/schema.org/Event/

I updated the php/html code because this testing tool indicates where the event issues are located in the theme, and I have a basic understanding of html. I was also careful to make backups of everything before I edited the theme.

It would be nice to have some training somewhere concerning html, but I'm not sure how confident everyone would feel about tampering with their themes in WordPress.

I may have to reach out to site support again. I'm not sure if the issue has been resolved or not - when I click on "Validate Fix", I'm still seeing the same issues.

I can see that the GoogleBot crawled my site on 12/5/19 after I submitted the site map - that's why i waiting two days before checking.

You should get back with site support. They fixed mine all up. They're great

I am getting back with them at the moment - even though I feel like I'm going in an endless circle. There has to be something else going on here.

Thanks!

Now Site Support has told me to reach out and submit a ticket to the theme provider to ask for guidelines in this matter.

https://kopatheme.com/contact/

I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm PMing you now. Please check it.

Hi Everyone
I submitted a ticket to site support and they told me to click on the "Validate fix" button in Google Search Console (I'm assuming they did something on the back end). But when I clicked it, there were still errors - see my first screenshot.

Next they generated a new site map and gave me the sitemap.xml file to Google Search Console, and allow some time for the GoogleBot to crawl the site.

The last crawl is showing for December 4th. I'll wait for the next crawl to see if it resolves.

Great question I just had the same thing happen this morning. I'll join you in standing by for answers. Hopefully the solution will fix allot of ongoing problems

Hi Isaiah,

Can you provide a screenshot of this?
Provide it here or PM it to me and I can look then update this thread.

Regards,
Jay

Thanks everyone,
I have a few screenshot attached here. The third screenshot gives a specific location of the issue in the html.

OK, Thanks.

These are rich snippet warnings in which looks like they're coming from your theme?

Are you using some sort of review plugin for rich snippets?

Not to my knowledge. I have screenshots of all my installed plugins. I am also using the "Ad Mag Lite" Theme for my site.

Always a good idea to check your links regularly. Linking to a page can solve this problem.

Hi Isaiah. What you may want to consider instead is to link to the page of products instead of the single product. This may mean that you will have to adjust your content but it's another option for you. Alternatively, you could find a similar product and put that in as well.

Thanks Jay - I don't know why I limited myself to a single product instead of a page. But linking to a similar product is also good alternative too. Thanks!

No worries, Isaiah. Anytime!

I experienced something similar with Amazon. Not knowing exactly what to do I pulled up the page that the item was on and used my link to it while building content to support the link. It worked great and I forgot about it until your question now.

I have actually gotten additional sales as people chose to add on or get another similar product. Either way, beneficial.

I know it doesn't solve your issue but it works well. I hope this helps.

Brian

Great idea, Brian!

Jeff

I hadn't thought about that - Thanks Brian!

You wonr be penalized, so long the link is still can go to Amazon. You will only be penalize if thf link is broken, meaning is goes to no where.

Thanks Jonathan - good to know!

A good thing to check your links. I would make sure that the item indeed is temporarily unavailable and if so then inform your audience and for how long. I think you would not be penalized for that.

Thanks! - I'm no longer in panic mode.

I received my first few trackback and pingback notifications and went ahead and disabled them in Wordpress. I understand that 99% of them is probably spam - but is there a way

Hi Isaiah. You can usually tell by the URL and also they tend to come in batches from the same entity which indicates spam. Not really worth your time.

Jay

Thanks Jay. This is good to know, going forward.

No worries, Isaiah. Happy to help.

Pingbacks and trackbacks are an old technique. anyone still using them is probably poorly informed or a spammer looking for backlinks.

That's kind of what I suspected - thanks for clearing this up.

Hello everyone,

First the good news - I made my first commision off Amazon!

Now the bad news - on August 26th, I received the following in an email from Amazon.

Hi Isaiah,
I've been dropped off the program twice without making a sale either time mainly because I jumped the gun in joining without having a plan in place either time I belonged. Once I'm actually ready I plan to apply again and hopefully they will allow me back in. Fingers crossed. Duane

I hope so too Duane.
I was off to a terribly slow start at first, and thought that maybe I should have waited in the beginning before signing up. Hopefully they'll let you back in.

Hi Isaiah. Usually if you get dropped from the program you can always contact them again and request to be added back in. I've heard of this happening to a few people here but as far as I know, if you request to be put back in the program, you should be allowed back in.

Thanks Jay,
I'm just now starting to gain some momentum in posting content, along with the product click links. I'm hoping Amazon can see these statistics and allow me to stay in the program.

Thanks!

No problem, Isaiah. Hopefully, this won't be a problem for you.

No you won't. You can reapply immediately if you want. But you will have to set up a new ID number and then redo all the links you have to Amazon on your site. Jim

Thanks Jim!

This is an important detail. Glad you mentioned it!
