Cognitive Momentum

So I have this theory, things in motion tend to stay in motion... whadaya think? Ever heard of it? Do you think it might go over big?

Seriously though I think this guy Newton was on to something. It's often quoted like I did but really it is, "An object that is in motion will not change its velocity unless a force acts upon it."

So I kind of coined this phrase "Cognitive Momentum" a while back and then I went online saw it everywhere haha, however it doesn't seem to be any formulated concept as such so I am creating the first one.

How it relates to Newton's first law is that we can be aware, Cognitive of the fact that things are going well, Momentum and keep it going. We think momentum is just a spurious moment at best that comes an goes on a whim from a power that is not of our own. This is simply not true. In fact, we have to create momentum by our thought process and then our actions. The great news it that it is within our power to create momentum and to do it on a daily basis.

I am not talking about getting up every morning with the Rocky theme music doing one-handed pushups (although I have been known to that.... not the pushups part).

Rather set yourself up to succeed every day at a level that is both challenging enough but not overwhelming and you will create momentum, cognitive momentum. You will be aware that you are moving forward with whatever it is you set out to do and you will want more of that.

I read about it here almost every day. "I can't believe how much I've completed in one month," I have tried to build a website for years and here at WA I finally did it." The list goes on ad infinitum. It's magical but it's not mystical.

Think about where you were last year, last week or just yesterday. If you can see that you have come forward to some degree you have created momentum that you can be aware of and that you can sustain. For me I do it with daily tasking. I wrote about it here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

I utilize Todoist to check off my routines. I have become so adept at completing my tasks that sometimes I am in the middle of the day and all is done already. it is such a cool feeling to tick off about 7 tasks in a row and see the board clear. Then I have time to learn and play with new tutorials and such. This is creating momentum and I am aware of it.

You can be too and the most amazing thing about it is WA is built for this very thing. Kyle and Carson are brilliant in their evil genius (I use that as a term of endearment). They knew exactly what they were building here and we can all benefit from it. If you have no idea where to start you have the Bootcamp. If you don't know what to do that day, do another lesson and if all else fails, write a post, comment on a blog or give someone some an inspirational boost. It's all here.

Cognitive momentum, know that you know that you can and will succeed!

Can you dig it,
Damo

Absolutely! I love crossing off things on my todo list! Thanks for the post! :)

I think I could do with your todoist. I know what needs doing everyday, but I get easily distracted by other new interesting things. There is always something new to learn.
Great post, thanks for sharing.
With Grace and Gratitude

Your welcome Grace, yes for me it really has helped create some good habits.

I like this post Damo, great way to look at it, when we start we can definitely be a bit rusty, amazing how immersing in learning how this industry tick ticks can get those cogs turning..

Absolutely Alex.

Evil genius LOL? Just gotta keep priming the pump Damo!

That's what I'm doing Mike thanks.

Damo,

I enjoyed your post. Very encouraging. I had zero experience in internet marketing in November 2017 when I started and now I have 2 websites up and running. I have followed all the training and it really does work!

Lisa

That's fantastic Lisa, thank you for sharing and great job.

Thanks for this Damo. I was really interested in the Todoist site when I read it on your first blog and I opened it up in a new window with the intention of signing up later. In the interim, my daughter accidentally shut down my computer and then I couldn't remember where I'd seen it or what it was called so this is a welcome reminder for me ....... of course I'd say it was the universe sending me a message, so thank you. Angels are everywhere you see! :)

Haha absolutely! Good on you!

No Damo - good on YOU! You're the ANGEL. And thinking about it, it seems like I need to use the site so that I don't lose track of things again......:)
