The right way to make a WA affiliate site

Quick disclaimer. I've no idea who this guy is on WA but I saw him asking for a critique of very extensive post on keyword research on a FB SEO board. ( There's a link on the site for a WA review - but that hasn't been written yet. )

Rather than the run of the mill WA affiliate site that virtually everyone makes, he's going a different route & following advice that states you should make content that's more awesome than your competitors.

He's kicked things off with a very extensive 5,000 word post, which also includes loads of graphics, on keyword research.

It's not groundbreaking stuff - plenty of other sites have posts on the topic, but it is a very comprehensive round up & you'd be hard pressed to find anything more detailed.

And that's what sets his content apart from the competition. He's writing content that:

a) other people will want to link to

and

b) google will love - as it ranks long / relevant content way higher then the usual 500 - 700 word posts the vast majority of websites comprise of.

Fantastic, 5000 word post? That is pretty impressive considering how most of us struggle on a 2000 word blog post? Will his marketing strategy work?

500 or 700 word posts aren't going to get you anywhere. Google has always loved long content. You'll find most people who are making good money in niche sites aim for long posts. 2000 words is fine. . . If your competitors are all around 1000 words mark. But for topics with a lot of competition, such as keyword research, then most people are already writing 2-3000 word articles. So you need to be even better than them without being repetitive or using lots of filler.

Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. Plus I wanted to provide great value to get a steady stream of followers. This is only the beginning. I plan on doing posts like this every fortnight.

Yes, you are right, but if I have no interest in a certain niche, then writing a 2000 words blog post would be very tough for me, lol. Thanks so much for yr advice. :))

If you have no interest in the niche, then why would you create a blog around it? I have an interest in affiliate marketing as a whole - hence why I've created a blog about affiliate marketing.

Awesome. So powerful informations. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing Ian:-)

That's my website and post! Wow! Word gets around hahah...I'm going to create long articles like this on a regular basis. (Hopefully 1 every two weeks). I'm currently in the promotional stage of sharing this post around various Web 2.0 networks, and receiving as many quality backlinks as I possibly can. I'm not a conventional WA member, and I have other strategies I'd like implement to get traffic. FYI, I'll be making guides on how I gathered the information to create epic posts like this for premium WA members in the future. It's actually a pretty simple process. After about 3 to 4 years, I've realised that content is king, and the more "actionable" and "relevant" your content is to the public and the niche that you're involved in, the more social prowess you'll also get. It's a great way of getting loyal subscribers and followers in your niche, and can quickly get you to authority status within it.

Thanks for sharing my content, I hope it serves people well here! Kindest Regards,

Matt.
