Hi everyone!

I am in the process of writing down an in-depth plan about my niche site project. I mean really in depth. I am reading and learning everything i can to real

Is there a way to arrange a local meet- up place..in person. To discuss how to s. I'm in Gresham Oregon.

I have to chime in here for a moment.

From what I gather online, WA is THE ONLY place that discourages link building/backlink (white-hat) strategies.

Every single other SEO professional such as Brian Dean and Neil Patel are 100% proponents of backlinking, along with 99% of other SEO professionals that I personally know of.

Are they all living in a dream world, or are we, as WA members, just simply ignoring one of the most powerful ranking signals to Google?

This is all so confusing to me.

I was taught here at WA that back linking is an essential part of your posts. At the same time WA advised not to overdo it and put a back link in every paragraph. As I recall it no more than 3-4 links per post. In my mind WA is not discouraging the use of back links.

I think the term "backlinks" are getting confused with "internal links".

Backlinks are links from authoritative websites, such as wikipedia, that point back to your article.

Or CNN, BBC, think of a large website with extreme authority referring visitors back to YOUR post.

Allright, I am sure I was in a lesson with Jay that he advised that back linking was ok.

I would type link building in the "ask your question here" and see what pops up. I noticed several good topics came up. I read a few and think they may be very helpful for you.

Thanks Geerie, i will :)

Put link building in the question area and you will find several responses about this for WA .

Hi Sterl and Jason, thanks for your reply :)

My intent is to build links naturally, exclusively "white hat". I am aware that there are around softwares or easier ways to build links but as Google has done more than once, it will found out "not natural" things and adjust things eventually. The idea that the many many hours i'll invest in building things up could be wiped out i an update actually scares me more than the work necessary to do things the right way.

Said that i am talking about writing articles for others to publish on their sites (guest posting) and in-content links exchange that should not be difficult, and actually natural, between sites in similar niches.

For Sterl: i have almost ready the basic content to get my site published and ready to go, it is about home brewing beer. So kits, equipment, informative articles and how to's. Actually at the moment my idea is to build things up aiming to turn my niche site in an authority site in time :)

Thanks, wish you both a nice day!

Luca

Unfortunately, nowadays it's really only links from authority sites that carry any weight. You certainly should avoid reciprocal linking, ie. link-to-me-link-to-you as that's now a spam signal.

Hi, ok so what remain is guest posting that would require efforts outside wa anyway. So what would you suggest? Outreach for guest posting to niche related sites with some authority?

Thanks

Yes, but it can often be quite difficult to get authority sites to agree to let you backlink if your own site isn't well established itself. It's the reason why the training no longer focuses on backlinking as it once did.

Thanks rich, you've been really helpful ;)

No probs. anytime. :)

I dunno if something exists but be careful about trading links. Google algorithms are pretty advanced and can pick up on this kind of thing quickly.
