Hello dear friends!

With this post, I wanted to inform the community about Google+ shutting down. Probably many of you already know about it! Still, maybe this post will help to get some more accurate information about it.

On 3rd of February this year I received a message into my Gmail inbox from Google+ team that my account will shut down on the 2nd of April 2019.

In December 2018 Google+ already announced that Google+ is closing this year. Now it is so far! Already from February this year is it not possible anymore to customize the profile and to use it for your promotional tasks.

According to the message I received Google+ is shutting down because of the reduced usage and effort required to maintain a successful product that meets user expectations. Google+ is also informing about the further steps including the process of downloading photos and other content.

Namely, on April 2nd the Google+ account and any Google+ pages created will be turned off, and Google + will begin deleting content from Google+ account.

Google+ will also delete photos and videos. Further, Google+ is informing me that I will still be able to download and save the content, but I have to do it by April! The photos and the videos backed up in Google photos will not be deleted.

I feel sorry about it because I liked Google Plus. I could easily promote my posts from my site getmarketingtoday.com to Google+ and receive feedback. My articles was also shared within the Google+ community. It was awesome!

So, the consequence is that deleting a contact from your Google+ account and album archives will take months, and the connection may remain present.

As stated in the received message the users will be still able to see parts of the Google+ traffic thru activity logs. Moreover, for some consumer content on Google+ may remain visible to the G Suite users until consumers Google+ ends.

It is not going to be possible to create any more any new Google Plus profiles, pages, communities, all events already from February the 4th.

If somebody is, for example, a Google+ Community owner or moderator, in that case he/she will be able to download and save the Google Community Information.

Additional to this information, Google+ will at the beginning of March 2019 provide additional information, including information about the author and photos of all posts within the public communities available for download.

If you, for example, sign up for some sites or for some apps using the Google+ sign up button, these buttons will stop functioning, but may in some cases you will be able to replace that button with the Google account sign in button.

You can still sign into your Google account wherever you see your Google account login buttons.

If you use Google+ to comment on your site or another site, this feature will be removed from Blogger by February 4th, and until March 7th, from other sites too.

From April 2nd, 2019, Google+ will delete all of your Google+ comments from all sites.

If you are a G Suite user, Google+ should stay active for your G Suite account. Ask your G Suite administrator for details. Soon you can expect a new look and new features.

If you're a developer using a Google+ API or sign into Google Plus, click here to find out how this will affect you.

Finally, the entire Google+ team thanks for making Google Plus become such a special place. Google+ would not be the same without the engagement and dedication of talented artists, community organizers, conceptual leaders and the other members that recognized the place in Google Plus for themselves.

To get some additional information from the source, I'm adding some info links below and feel free to check them out for your further accurate information about this process.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope it will be helpful to every Google+ user and others as well.

Thanks for sharing, Igor.

Thanks, Igor for the info. Haven't started using it yet and I'm glad I haven't.

Thanks, Igor for the input.

Unfortunately, I was not able to use Google + I was about to start some blogging when I was informed that it is going to close. They would have some good reasons why they closed.

I hope you were not affected much.

Warm regards,
Lyn

Thanks for heads up!

I was reading about that, and did the download of my content. There are neat things in there I had not looked at for awhile. I also think people should do this, like a time capsule. It is worth it to review things.
Thank you for a great blog post,
Nurse Becca

Hi Becca!
Yes, it is worth downloading the content. Thanks for the reply and comment. I appreciate it.

I am going to miss Google+. Anyway, the "show must go on"...So, I guess I need to turn to another social media site. Do you have any good experience with other SM sites like Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube...?

Honestly, I don't have enough time to manage all of them but need to decide for one or two. Although on FB, I will soon start considering promoting my site and WA more intensively.

Thanks and open for your feedback!

best regards,
Igor
