Hi, WA Comm, if use a domain name registered at godaddy and host at WA will i still enjoy the features like site security, emails, ssl etc

Just for example, I have 7 websites hosted at WA but all of my domains hosted elsewhere. I prefer to keep them separate.

This is close to answering my question. but despite having your domain elsewhere, do you still enjoy the ssl, emails, site security etc that WA offers?

Yes. As I said in my first reply, all of that is a function of the web host.

Contact site support and you can transfer your domain name to WA if you want

thanks for the response. but i dont want to transfer, just want to host at WA,

Yes. Those features are total provided by the host.

It doesn't matter where your domain is registered. Just point the DNS at WA's servers. If you're unsure what that means, let me know and I'll explain.

@phill please explain. thanks

You need to get into your domain name's details at GoDaddy. They should have provided you with login details and there should be a menu item to manage your domain.

You're looking for something called DNS or name servers or similar.

There will be two of them and they will probably by default contain the addresses of GoDaddy's servers.

You need to change them to:

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

and save your changes.

A little while later, you should be able to build your website at WA.

Okay, so it goes a little like this. There's no way that you can get the hosting features elsewhere for near the price that you get here at WA.
With that said, What you do at WA will not be integrated with any website that is hosted elsewhere, so it will become a hassle for you.
Finally, if you buy a website somewhere else, you certainly can still follow most of the training and do with your own tools what WA provides for you, BUT...
When you decide to move your website over to WA, you will still have to pay the $13.99 AND you will have had to own that website for at least 61 days to transfer it over.

Some hosting services make that a difficult process, but 60 days + is the minimum to transfer a domain.

So I didn't know this and got a domain at GoDaddy for $0.99 and ended up in worse shape. There's no savings doing it hat way plus it's just a pain in the butt.

Once the 60 days+ have passed and once you transfer the domain from godaddy to WA, you will have all the features that WA offers, assuming that you go to premium status. If you remain a starter member, you cannot host a private domain name here.

Best of luck, however you do it!

thanks for the prompt response. am not hosting at godaddy i only have a domain name that i bought from them and want to use it at WA. are you saying i have to pay 13usd before ican host at WA?

Yes. PLUS, you now have to own that domain name for 60 days before you can transfer it AND you have to be a premium member to access a private domain from here.

Transferring from GoDaddy is fairly easy, but they prompt you to set some privacy settings when you register your domain name with them, then they won't move the name to WA until you remove those security settings, which they did not show me how to do, so on that note, they will tell you what you need to do to move your domain, but they will not tell you how to find the things you need to change.

But you have two months to figure that part out.

WA will let you start a FREE website here then in two months, once you go premium, you can transfer it over then move your free website over to the domain you have already paid for. WA makes moving from your free domain to a private domain REAL EASY, if they are also hosting the private domain.

You don't need to transfer the domain to WA, just point the domain name servers.

But she's also not hosting at GoDaddy. It's parked there. But that's something she'll have to look at.

For me, I considered the cost. WA is a far better deal for hosting alone, not to mention the education and community.

I might have offered different advice if her domain at GoDaddy was established.

That's right, she's not hosting at GoDaddy.

She wants to host at WA.

So all she has to do is point the domain name at WA's servers and then build her site at WA.

That will give her all the benefits.

Am talking about hosting alone not moving my domain. i want my domain at godaddy but hosted at WA, will that deny me benefits

Hi WA, community. Am new to WA and have gotten a reasonable understanding of the system. I have told a few of my friends about WA already and they are ready to join. Av got

You will only entitle to the commission if the referral upgrade to premium. You will not pay for the $1 incentive for referring people to free starter membership even though they have completed their account set-up.

Yes you can. Your referral link can be found in your profile $ sign on the top :)

Can I refer and earn on stater?
