Mile 17 of a marathon
This is how I feel this week. I remember, fifteen or so years ago, running a marathon. I had arranged for my ex husband to be at mile 17 with a banana as I figured I would need the snack. By mile 14 I was getting excited to see him and get my banana. It got me through those tough miles. But at mile 17 we could not find him. I remember being bummed and frustrated (and hungry). I went on to finish the marathon nine miles later.
I know I will continue on this marathon but today (and yesterday) I am feeling frustrated and bummed about not feeling much progress. I guess I just needed to express it so I could move on!

Remember in distance running that you feel your worst just a short time before you catch that second wind. Then that second wind carries you through. All you have to do is just push ahead a little more and then the second wind kicks in!
I ran a marathon once. I was in the Army National Guard and I was also a firefighter on the civilian side. I was in great shape and I ran a lot.
I was dating a girl that I was very serious about. Was thinking about asking her to marry me. She was also in the Army and was a couple of states away. One day I got the "Dear John" letter. It broke my heart. I needed to clear my head so I went out running. I ran and ran and almost 27 miles later, I was over her. (I went back a couple of days later and measured it with my car) Just a tenth of a mile short of 27. I had pulled a "Forest Gump"! LOL!
Years later when that movie came out and he stated, "I just felt like running". I laughed so hard that tears came to my eyes. Everyone turned to look at me in the theater. Anyway, hope this story helps to brighten your day:) Dave.
Life is a Marahton in itself so we have to keep reaching for the Banana or whatever helps us get thru the day, and the Finish Line is on the horizon so keep on chugging.
Haha! Nope but if I had had energy left after the marathon he might have gotten yelled at : ) Lucky for him I was too tired!
Thank you for sharing, I think we all hit that mile 1 7 on our journey. I see you made it to the finish line so we can all do it.
