The day you open a 414-year-old Book
Hey, folks, not every day you get to open a 400+-year-old book, but that's one of the things you get to do when you visit a 700-year-old place.
I was not supposed to do this, but, I couldn't help myself, and with all the care and respect in the world I speak peak into that masterpiece.
These
These sacred books where writen in ROME in 1614 and 1603 acordingly.
Places like this have so much power...
The thing about this particular place is that it's in the town where I was born and live for whole my life. This is a huge monastery with a gothic style church, was built in between 1314 until 1318. It's the brand and glory of this city and the people that were born here!
There is not a living soul in this city that doesn't know this building from the outside, but, on the past weekend, they opened the whole building to visitors with guided trips and even dressed up "nuns" for ambiance wondering around...
Was an unimaginable experience to walk those gigantic corridors filled with history and intrigue. I tried to absorb as much as my eyes and spirit could...
Sons of kings are buried here
Placed to rest side by side, together with their loved ones they rest for centuries. Still in a matrimonial way past their mortal life.
A masterpiece created centuries ago a place were each stone have a story to tell, a place that fuel our soul just by standing inside.
A place beautiful to the visitors but, we know it was a prison for those who lived there.
A prison with a view to the paradise!
Wanted to share this magnificent experience with you guys!
Hope you guys enjoy the photos ;)
Cheers to all of you
Pedro

Thanks - I was in Portugal (Obidos, among other places) a few years ago, and really enjoyed it! Best wishes for your continued success!
Óbidos is nice, always has a medieval village inside castle walls. They have a chocolate statue building festival once a year...
Wish you the best, cheers
Pedro.
That is so wonderful.
Well, like you said, people in your city know it by heart, but for me... what is this place called?
I have to put it in my "Must Visit" list.

Very nice. I love stuff like this, although I personally wouldn't have touched the books-- they would be too easy to damage and that would fill me with guilt.
You are absolutely right, I did it with extreme caution and only opened the cover hardly enough to peek inside...
I do respect this kind of things... but I agree with you 100% I wouldn't forgive myself if something happened.
