Hi Huge, welcome to Wealthy Affiliate, looks like you have a few concerns, and from what you have said a working understanding about online marketing and CMS systems.

Folks can stay at the starter membership level indefinitely, having said that if you are a starter member and create a site and then abandon the site I believe that Wealthy Affiliate reserves the right, to remove the site, as one would appreciate all sites hosted take up resources.

When we upgrade to premium as long as our membership subscription is active we can participate in the premium level of the platform.

We can cancel our membership at any point we wish.

However, we can not revert to the starter membership.

From the time, we cancel the billing, we have 30 days to find alternative hosting, some hosting providers just cut you off if your hosting fees are not paid.

Check out the platform, it may suit your online aspirations, or you may be just fishing.

Best wishes.

I see no reply. A very Hot question

More bad JUJU. Looks like I'm getting closer to getting out. Stick with Go Daddy, so far they charge me for extras but give me exactly what I ask for. No BS involved. I'll follow the training for a bit. So far most of it is all free stuff available on You Tube. Of course it is convenient having it in one place. But this site is looking more like friends on Face Book chatting and sharing. Got to watch the days about 2 or 3 days into my premium, should have waited and studied more, my bad. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas. Best Lessons are learned from getting burned a few times. Keep on Rolling.

Oh goodness ... you JUST joined!

The training here goes way beyond what you can find for free anywhere (and more often than not, paid training, as well).

I agree that the platform is too personal and chatty for my tastes, but the training (and usually the site support) is more than worth every penny.

Perhaps you haven't fully explored all the features? You certainly haven't given the training a chance.

You might want to give it a little more time before you offer a negative review to a fellow new member.

Laurie

Good thoughts.

Yes maybe best to put it all down to experience and move on. I recommend that anyone with a site here that they wish to keep, should back it up with something like a plugin called "All in one WP migration". You can download a full copy of your website with that and store it on your pc or dropbox in case of any problems later. Hopefully you have bought your domain elsewhere which will make the whole migration process a lot easier and trouble free.

However this is not a review. It exactly how I interpret this. It is not about the $$$ what they have here is affordable, but there are many very unhappy posts from members, granted some are just not getting results and have themselves to blame. Look at me wasting my time writing this. I could be working on another lesson. I think I'll work thru 3 or 4 more tomorrow. I will shout excellent when I get to the end if I feel worth it. So far have seen all of it and understand all of it pretty easy stuff. It's all about getting traffic to your site for more than 15 sec. that's it! do that U will make affiliate sales. Merry Christmas Laurie

Same here, but this is my day off and better than reading some other rubbish on social media. I'm fortunate not to have paid any subscription upfront and feel sorry for those like yourself who have been sucked in by all the hype. Incidentally, much of it is spread by other members who have been hanging on sometimes for months or even years in the hope that one day a big fat payment will come through.
No doubt there are a few members making money in affiliate marketing here but they could've done it anyway without so much expense. There seems to be some kind if faith here that holds it all together which is almost like a cult or religion. After reading many member profiles here I noticed they all have one thing in common. That is a genuine belief that they can succeed in affiliate marketing if only they keep pumping the money and hard work into this platform.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that and most have more chance of winning a lottery.

None of the links that you have provided are official statements from Wealthy Affiliate but posts written by yourself. I can only assume that Wealthy Affiliate do not have an official cancellation policy that they wish to publish.

Right on Hugh, you are on your own in whatever You do. Some people are afraid to admit they were sold on the hype. I'm not. I could afford to lose the premium fee I've missed on more than a few. If I can draw one or two tips from this I feel it will be worth it. One thing I've learned or re-learned is Hype sells, sell the sizzle. Been done since the first Wheel salesman walked the earth. There are a lot of skeptics here, too many to ignore, hopefully I can sort thru all of it and make a few $$$. Good Luck man, Merry Christmas. Stay in touch maybe we could help each other. Have to get to a private way to do that. I'll look for a way to send a private msg. to you. I'll send my email, FB account info whatever you wish. Stay tuned while I search this site.

Hugh, you look so much like a friend of mine, Hugh Jeego. Are you related?

Good one, Marion!

It's doubtful that WA would make it impossible to move your domain to another host. I hope you get a satisfactory answer.

I have a friend who left WA recently and has been told exactly that! Obviously not happy having to pay a further month just to access WA site admin in order to move the site to another server.

I'm not a great fan of Wordpress. Does anyone know if I can build a website using a different platform?

Strange that there were more replies to this question which have since disappeared.

As far as I know, you can't ...

WA is a Wordpress centered community and hosting service

Well that is unfortunate. It seems that members don't have full control over their own work!

Wrong approach ...

You have full control over everything you create and everything that means Wordpress ...

It's a simple technical CMS-related question ...

Doesn't look so great to me. There are much more flexible hosting companies around and a lot cheaper too.

This is not a hosting company ... This is MUCH more ... A community. An education project. A business platform & model. Etc, etc

Speaking about hosting ... As a Premium member you have free hosting for 50 websites ...

But is always your choice ...

I can't imagine why anyone would want 50 websites and not many would be able to manage that amount. I only signed up today and so far not convinced. I'll give it a week and see if anyone can convince me to part with 50 bucks/month here.

Just wondering how many active members are currently at Wealthy Affiliate. Does anyone know?

if you click on the followed by on kyles profile you will find about 1.2 million members - not all active.
i would put the figure at about 40% of that, if not a bit lower, but still impressive.
phil

Thanks for your reply. That is a more sensible explanation. However I feel that your estimate is still way over the top. Many of the members listed have left WA a long time ago but have never been deleted. Many are free members who also left and never even got through the training. I asked Kyle what the real figure is via my profile. Unfortunately, I just got one of his automated replies which doesen’t even relate to the question.
It makes me wonder weather Kyle is a real person and if so, even replies himself.

there will be a lot of canned messages - kyle is only one person after all and cannot be everywhere.
i am sure he is busy on other things most of the time.
maybe this is something you can ask on the contact page.
https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/contact/
at least this way you know it is getting through.
i think he does become real - or at least an avatar - in live chat occasionally, maybe others take over sometimes.
I hope you get an answer.
phil

Wow that's awesome! One thing that bothers me though is that all members are automatically followed by Kyle so he should have 1500000 friends. However I just looked at his profile which currently states that he is only following 380,445 friends. How do you account for the other 1119555?

If he has 380,445 followers then that is the amount of people who have actually clicked on his 'Follow' button and he theres.

Take me as another example. I have over 6,000 followers but I don't follow them all simply because I have not clicked on their 'Follow' button.

It is a personal choice Hugh and not written in stone that you have to follow anyone if you don't want to.

Another thing is that all Kyle's followers could be his personal referrals.

All my followers are not my personal referrals and neither will yours be once you have been here for a while.

Robert

But I thought all members are automatically followed by Kyle as I have been. Seems a bit strange don't you think? In any case, I have sent him a message asking the same question.

No, not all referrals are Kyles or Carsons.
With over a million members those members have the bulk of the referrals.
Kyle promotes WA a gets referrals the same as any other member who promotes WA.

But I am not one of Kyle's referrals. I was still added to his list immediately after signing up. That would suggest to me that all members are automatically added too. I suspect that the true number of active members is much less than that followed by Kyle as many are now old and inactive members. How many are actually paid up active members? I don't think anyone would know that apart from the owners of WA.

It doesn't matter who you signed up under all new members will receive a welcome message from Kyle or Carson as well as the person they signed up under.
This doesn't mean Kyle or Carson will click on your Follow button.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it Hugh.

I certainly won’t be losing any sleep. I just like to know if my 50 bucks/month would go to a reputable dealer. It seems a bit misleading that’s all.

Hugh I pay yearly and only renewed last month and on that day is the first time I have seen the person I signed up under within WA since last November.

They didn't even have the common courtesy to say hello.

A lot of members only stay members to receive the referral commissions.

I can imagine that a lot of deception goes on in this community Robert and I’m not at all surprised. I only joined today and already noticed that a few comments have either been suppressed or deleted. I’ll hang around for a while but not overly impressed so far.

WA is the same as any other community in the world Hugh.
There will always be a few bad apples.
Most don't hang around very long.
All in all though the people who make up the membership are a pretty decent bunch of people so give it a few days/weeks as a free member.
You will find out soon enough if its for you or not.
Now I'm off home for eats so maybe catch you later.
