One Step At A Time

I've never considered myself a quitter – it’s just that…..things happen. Family happens, job happens, school happens, life just happens. All these happens – tend to collide and before you realized, find yourself asking- what have I really accomplished?

I like to say it was different when I was younger – honestly though it wasn’t. It was just a different set of happens. School, work, girlfriend, girlfriend and girlfriend again. It’s so easy to get distracted and forget your dreams of achieving something truly great. There have been moments that I wished, “..if only I had nothing else happening so I could concentrate on that just one thing.”

I’ve met some great people during my journey in life. What I’ve noticed is that, what made them great – was the dogged ability to keep striving for their goals no matter what was happening around them. And surprising while doing so to remain engaged with life. They seem to be able to handle the happens and at the same time keep placing one foot at a time in front of the other. Until one day, they reach their goal and turn their dream into a reality.

Just a little over two years I joined Wealthy Affiliate’s with the dream that I would take this opportunity and build a business for my family. Started off right and then – you guessed it, I let life happen. New job, no job, new job again and just plain tired. A few months ago – I became involved with an University Foundation effort to help entrepreneurs succeed. This effort includes a competitive pitch contest and they needed a website to promote bi-monthly pitch contest. So why not use WA?

At the time, my WA ranking was sadly in the 80K and that I was rusty in using WordPress, so to get the site up and running – started where I had left off in my certification training. The training quickly led to my getting engaged. Engaged in discussions, commenting, creating training - one step at a time. One step at a time my ranking has also changed – from 80K to 919. Slowing but surely and along the way even with all the “happens” in life my dream is becoming a reality. More important is that I have rediscovered a community that believes in turning dreams and into reality. Thanks WA.
