I am using the Figero theme and have noticed on my latest blog post that the full post does not show and is being cut off without the ability to scroll to the bottom even.

<

Just checked out the post. I once had a similar issue like this and it was because of an HTML issue. Check to see if the HTML has all the closing phrases like

or and the like. If not, then the theme doesn't pick up on the "true" ending of the post and cuts it off. Hope this helps!

Hei, thanks for that, I never thought of that. Will take s look tomorrow and see what I can find. From memory I think I did place some code in their and then cut some of it out, so maybe didn’t get it all...

Yep - it's probably it. It sounds like its a specific problem with this post, so the HTML is most likely the culprit. Happened to me when I was altering some HTML code for a YouTube video. Everything goes back to normal once that little error is fixed in the code! Best of luck.

Well bugger me, you were absolutely right. The code didn't even look to be wrong or have anything missing but once I took it out everything worked...... Thanks so much for your advice

I am in the process of trying to make my site multi-lingual and have installed the qTranslate-X plug-in, which looks very good. I have managed to get it working on my side an

I wish I could help. I wish you all the best

I've been using it...i find it quite complicated. And now a bit struggling between Polylang and qTranslate X. Do you have any progress?

If it is anything like Google translate, the user either has to choose their native language when arriving on the site, or it is automatically translated due to the native language setting in the browser. I am pretty sure you don't have to do anything to set this up as the publisher. Try an icognito browsing session to see what it offers you from the reader's perspective.

Cheers, Although this plug-in doesn't physically do the translating, you have to do that yourself, but you should have a selection of the various translated languages to choose from. Will try the incognito browser and see what happens.

You might want to try Google translate as well for languages you are not familiar with. It's far from perfect by any means, but still gives you more multi-lingual capabilities than nothing at all.

I have recently converted my personal travel blog from Blogger to a WA hosted site and rebranded as www.aroundrock3.com

I would go with the blog roll on the home page because it is better for your website rankings. Every time a new blog gets added and Google crawls your home page, they like seeing that it is consistently getting updated. Consistency is a ranking factor.

Another thing that boosts ranking is internal linking. All blogs on the home page with a snippet of text and then a button that sends you to the full blog is like an internal link.

If you have a static page that doesn't consistently get updated, then your home page ranking suffers. My first 2 websites had static home pages, now my other 2 websites have the blog roll and the one established site is doing well in SERPs.

Hei, thanks for that advice. Makes sense so will stick with what I am doing and maybe create a background front page to go to from the blog roll.

You are welcome.

Some themes will also give you the option of creating a front page that is a hybrid of both approaches, although this is a bit more complex to pull off.

Cheers, that is along the lines of what I was hoping to achieve, will have a look around for such themes.

Very interesting. Well, you can still have a blog roll on the home page and categorize your posts as "personal", "Sponsored Travel" and other things, then use the Custom Menu option to point to the archives of each. Many magazine-style high-end bloggers do this.

The issue I have with the blog roll on the home page is speed. I use my home page as a "landing" type page and seek more speed for SEO. But, this point is debatable. Just something to ponder. :-)

Thanks, I will look at those suggestions as well as i do want to create a page which will direct the reader to say personal blog list of each contributor, or blogs related to specific destinations.
Plenty to think about really...
