I'm sure this is probably a tempest in a teapot, but does anyone know how to add checkbox squares to a bullet list? I've looked for widgets and plugins that might incorporate it

thank you

howmuch you have helped a great deal..finally done writting my review. happy holiday to you. again thank you..

:)

hello howmuch and howmuch more..I don't know exactly what video that Kyle was talking about that.. that is valuable thing to know.. sorry am not much of help to you..

I appreciate the support in any case, Ginger--hope things are going well for you!

How to exactly do this I don't have the answer, but CSS is going to be the way you do this. In it you will declare what type of bullets you use (square, round, arrows, whatever.

Also, depending on which theme you have, you may already have settings found usually under "graphics" or something to that effect. I hope I've been able to help some.

Daniel

Thanks, Daniel, I've already checked out everywhere I could think of. My settings contain bullet list options that uses points, circles and little black squares, but not the type you can use for checkboxes. Like I mentioned, Word has it but they won't transfer when you cut and paste.

Sorry, got me stumped. I would also like to know….so good question!

Hah! Glad I asked it then. Could be there's a few of us out there who would like the answer. WA has some geniuses in it, so I have high hopes.

I have been at Wealthy Affiliate for a couple of months now and quite frankly the amount I've learned about creating and building out a website and then monetizing it leaves me

appreciate the advice i guess it's hard to get away from the mind set that if i buy a car it needs to run immediately....being a little sarcastic lol

No worries. When something you are just learning about starts to go haywire it can drive you crazy because you have no past experience to fall back on to fix it. We'll get it worked out--don't worry.

moneymakingalternatives.com.siterubix.com this is my site i'd like to get this fixed so i can move forward

I see what you mean. That is just so weird. What theme did you pick for your site?

What theme did you choose, Mike?

if u go to my sight you will see my pages are triplicated and my page title is in big bold lettering I've been trying eliminating the duplicate pages and shrink my lettering without having to delete my site and start over again. i am not not so savvy on computers this is my first go at anything outside of processing orders or simple data entry...any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

I'm on it! Er...can I have your URL? I'll take a look at it when I come back from work, in about 3 hours or so. Pinkie promise.

this a learning experience. at times i get frustrated because i do not get my questions answered....doing things online without any real human interaction is different for me from past experience almost anywhere sometimes hearing a voice to correspond made things more comprehensible.... Maybe i am used to things the old way however i've learned more about this industry than i knew before....not getting answers slows my progress even though i am not in a hurry

Now that is an interesting comment, Mike. I agree a human voice sometimes makes it easier to understand. But I also am aware that in a human learning environment I usually have a deadline to meet, and if I didn't understand something the teacher wasn't always there to answer my questions even so.

Your frustration is completely understandable, however. Is there any question you haven't yet had answered? I know I've tried to answer a couple myself, and don't mind helping any time you have a question. If I can't answer it, you can put it up for discussion like this, or you can go to live chat--I had one question answered by doing that myself--or you can put in for a support ticket by typing "support ticket" into the search bar above and following the prompts.

Thank you so much for bringing that subject up. I appreciate the salient point that not having one's questions answered when we don't know what is wrong can be very frustrating. I hope that it is going to be solved for you, and if I can do anything to work towards that let me know, right now or in a PM or any way you like.

I hear you on that one, Mike. But I'll say you shouldn't beat yourself down because you're not getting answers the instant you need one.

I experienced something similar in my very first week when I had to change my website theme and I was forced to wait for more than 1 week before I could get anything done. We need to be able to exercise some patience to be successful in this business. At least that is one of the things I'm also learning.

My membership at WA has been an awesome experience. I came here as a complete newbie but now I'm doing things I never thought I could ever be interested in. I am seeing the result of my efforts and that to me is a motivating factor to keep going.

Apart from broadening my horizon with the training, this community also offers me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

So Rowena, to answer your question, yes, I enjoy learning and this experience has been a pleasant one, so far.......

Your post reminds of my accomplishments thus far, which by any standard is encouraging, but it also tells me girl, you have a looong way to go.

I wish you much success.

And I you, Funmine. I see by your profile you are a make-it-from scratch food person. So am I. It's kind of what we're doing here at WA, too--making our businesses from scratch. And just like food, it tastes waaaaay better!

When you are part something from inception, you have the sense of ownership and that feels great. You want to nurture it and see it grow so you can then look forward to reaping the harvest.

I could not have put it better if I tried for a million years. Well said.

I even signed up for Affiliate Boot Camp,and signed up for a bunch of Affiliates too!

That's awesome, rudyc! I went through all the certification training levels and am nearly through the bootcamp. I feel like I'll never stop learning here.

Yes ,very invigorating,I have only been here 6 days and i have never built a website ,all I do on the computer is pay bills and open E-mails.,and I have been here on the WA website 6 - 10 hours a day and I have learned so much that I am actually building a website in 6 days,incredible ,all the knowledge that is passed around on this website ,I am no computer whiz either,I own a body shop and work with my hands ,this is something completely different,Kyle and Carson and everyone else that helped them build this website,did awesome thing,"Hat's Off To Them".

You are doing exactly what I did when I started. I love playing Zelda on my Wii but haven't even looked at it since I started WA. I finally feel like I'm spending my free time in a worthwhile way.

Hey Rowena, my sentiments exactly!

Perhaps the title of my last blog puts it a different (tongue in check) slant on it -
'This is getting scary - Is there a WA anonymous?'
Describing how addictive I'm finding WA.

Though addictive is not really the right word. It comes down to something more slippery. For me it is being in a space where learning feels safe, where judgement does not belong, where there truly are no 'stupid q's. I've not found many places like that, & have done some digging.

Fundamentally I suppose, I'm describing trust. And if you have customers/members that trust you especially in a learning environment....Stuff happens, pass it forward kind of stuff. Things start to work like you wish they did & somehow knew they could, though were still waiting for the experiential evidence.

It's funny, I've nearly been here 2 months, not long. Though long enough to see people going through the early intrepid stages of this trust, to then the 'penny drop' moment. It would make an interesting article on its own to chart these stages...

Indeed it would. As you can see by my username, I was one of the skeptical ones. Took me about a week and I was sold. Went Premium before the month was out.

We must be skeptical to begin with until the burden of proof is undeniable.

As you would have seen Rowena, many new members in their bios start with their tales of being ripped off from one end of the web to the other. If we aren't skeptical we are lunch.

The transition from there is when things start getting very interesting & exciting, because finally your expectations become more real & attainable...Nice post!

WhooHoo!.....It's so awesome to hear how WA has helped! Glad everything is working out so well for you. I was just wondering....could positive feedback about WA be used in our websites? (Permission based of course).

I have only been here a month, and am still learning and building my site....So far their classes have been soooo easy to implement and understand...I love it & I am excited to be continuing on.

Absolutely. In fact, I'm going to be linking this discussion to a page on my new website www.makecashmine.com. I think it's important for people to know that success is measured in many ways, especially here at Wealthy Affiliate. I think the can-do atmosphere and up-building community support is unrivalled anywhere on the internet.

you could not have said it better.I also started here a couple of months ago and am learning day by day. Very exciting! Good luck to you. Jack

That's great, Jack. It's invigorating, isn't it?

For those of you who haven't scrolled down to my reply to the excellent Jude below, let me just announce that my articles have returned as mysteriously as they left, kind of like my cat does when it's summer and twilight. I am thrilled beyond measure.

Rowena, let us know what happened. I haven't written any articles yet, so I cannot help. However, I have signed up but now I can't log in. I have logged in a few times to comment on other people's articles. But now I can't log in using the same username and password as before.

Good reminder that we keep a backup of our articles on our computers or usb drives, just in case that happens again. ~ Jude

@Rich said Kyle told him it was a glitch in the system and that hopefully it would be fixed before too long. But now I hesitate to spend the time to write an article for submission. Even if I do save it, why have it published just to have it fizzle out of existence like some second-rate sparkler? Maybe I'll give it another shot. There's no denying my ranking skipped up a page or two when I had my articles published. But you're right--from now on everything is going to be backed up. What bugs me is the comments that disappeared with them.

Are you on Firefox? There seems to be less problems when I do stuff on StreetArticles when I'm on Firefox.

Yes, I am on FF. These technical glitches happen. Let's hope your articles and the comments resurface. Let's hope they have back up.~ Jude

YES! YES! They are back! My articles are back! Woo-hoo! Pardon me while I Futterwacken (I guess I better explain here that is the weird dance Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter does in Alice In Wonderland)!

I am beside myself with joy. I would never have thought to check it out if you hadn't suggested it, Jude. Thank you ever so much.

I do de dance of joy!

I don't understand it either. I had two articles and one dosen't show up either. I have been checking every now and then to see if they show back up. Any gusesses?

I have a lot of speculations...the least paranoid one is that it's somehow connected to the changes Google has been going thru, though why that would do it I have no idea.

Send a PM to Kyle perhaps he can help since he owns SA

Many thanks, boomer. I will be doing so shortly.

In your admin panel, next to your theme's banner image, is there a link for theme options? Or it could be under Appearances in your left menu? If your theme gives you an option to changes colors, it would be in there. Otherwise, as Rich says, you will have to go to the style sheet in the editor. Only recommended if you know what you are doing. If your theme developer has support or a forum, you could try that.. Some do, but most free themes don't. You could also try a Google search: "theme name + change menu color" to see if anything comes up. ~ Jude

my comment was deleted accidentally lol so what's the theme are you using ? and if you can put the website for me so I can check it out (or in a PM) so we can figure out how to get the drop down color changed.

Cool! My website is http://campingandhikingideas.com I love it when you webmaster mavens check in.

Hello There, after I checked the website here is a picture that shows the different colors in that menu :
http://img1.imagilive.com/1113/Howmuch.jpg
which color you need to change ?

*Gasp!* The top menu, as well as all the drop down subjects, Obiwan.

So to change the colors of the top menu Item : (HOME - THE CAMPSITE ...etc) :
go to this file in your FTP client :
/wp-content/themes/twentytwelve/style.css
and go to line #1492 : you will find the : ."main-navigation li a {" class
in the color property you will find : #6A6A6A; change it to whatever color you want.

for the down menu background color :
in the same file look for :
.main-navigation li ul li a {
probably in line #1523

you will fin 2 properties :
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #EFEFEF;
border-bottom: 1px solid #EDEDED;

the background property is for the background color (#EFEFEF) ==> change it to whatever color you want.
the border-bottom property is for the items bordercolor : (#EDEDED) => this one as well.

and for the Hovering property :
in the same file look for :
.main-navigation li ul li a:hover {
background: #e3e3e3;
color: #444;
}

and change those colo to whatev hover color you want.

if you are having trouble on how to change those, let me know i'll do a tutorial for you !!
Good luck

You are an absolute gem Mounir. I shall get to work on that in a day or two, after I run down a few other things, create a site-rubix test site, and get over my fear of crashing.

All kidding aside. You are the best. Thanks.

I agree with RICH ---

Yeah, I'm a monkey when it comes to all that technical stuff. I've learned the hard way not to tinker with that stuff unless I'm 100% sure of what I'm doing.

Unfortunately, it's usually only premium (paid for) themes that provide menus or simply ways to modify such things http://d.pr/i/5iUs If your theme doesn't, then it's a question of digging about in the CSS code, which you should only do if you've a full backup of your site as things can go badly wrong if you make a mistake. Rich.

Yeah, I crashed my site already once! :)

Ouch! I'm sorry that happened, Rowena. I'd recommend creating a dummy siterubix test site with the same theme if you still want to attempt this, so that you can have a play and make any mistakes with impunity. :) Rich.

That's golden advice, Rich--I will be sure to do that next time. Live and learn, hey? Live and learn. Thanks for your continued help and advice. I always appreciate it more than you can know.

You're most welcome, it's great if someone else can benefit from the mistakes I've already made myself. :D R.

It's almost like it's just an example of what my directory is. Where do I find the real, actual root directory with my "public_php" index? Does it have anything to do with FTP a

I tried getting my files using coreftp and this is what it told me: That the requested name was valid, but no data of the requested type was found.

Any other suggestions anyone? And thanks for the support I've been getting to date, especially the ever patient Richard.

I'm not sure if this is the problem in your case, but in the past I wasn't able to FTP because I had set my internet connection to "Public" on my firewall. Once I changed it to "Home" it worked just fine.

@ThomasPaul: Hmmmm...worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion, kiddo. Here goes nuthin'...

Rats. I've already got it on Home.

The biggest problem is that my security ware won't let me download filezilla, as it contains viruses, spyware and other stuff that might potentially damage my computer hardware, or so it's telling me.

OK, try http://www.coreftp.com it's a Carson recommendation. :) Rich.

Okey-dokey, Richard, I'll try that one. Here goes...

LOL, good luck! :) R.

Awesome, Richard. I've got it downloaded. Now I just have to figure out how to use it to access the root directory...I may be back....

If you need a rough guide to set up, then https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ftp-filezilla-connecting-to-domain-via-ftp probably comes close enough. I find that setting IPv6 and "passive" mode usually does the trick. However, this https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/troubleshoot-connecting-to-ftp-at-wa may also help. :) Rich.

I don't know but here's a training video for FTP access. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ftp-filezilla-connecting-to-domain-via-ftp

Yeah, I did, and Filezilla didn't install like the tutorial said it would. I'll try your link and see about it again.

If you type FTP in the search bar above, you'll find a range of training on using it to access the file directories of your website, ie. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ftp-filezilla-connecting-to-domain-via-ftp :) Rich.
