Stagnent, bit cheeky, HELP

Last Update: October 05, 2015

Bit of a cheeky blog this, but thats me all over hehe, you don't ask you don't get and all that.

My main website

www.homecountiesdogtraining.com

It ranks ok for a lot of search terms, ive been told the content is quality and the site looks clean and proffsional, my problem is this, my main competitors website.

www.thedogtrainer.co.uk

It looks like they have paid someone to do it for them, i like and dislike some of it but you can see everywhere how they have managed to throw keywords in left right and centre.

So my question is, how can i make my website more appealing to google, like the one above, without just copying obviously.

Thanks All.

Great question and I learned a lot from the answers. Is there a place to get the affiliate disclosure (sorry for asking in someone else's post) but it caught my eye.

I agree with @KatieMac the font would be easier to read if it was a sans sarif a good rule of thumb, if it is printed use a serif font, if it's electronic use sans serif. Your readers' eyes will thank you.

Here some thoughts looking at both sites... yes there's might be bolder however if it has been done professionally they have a mistake straight away at the bottom of your page... I would consider changing your theme I found the font a bit harder on the eyes, you do have a lot of ads for amazon down the side , perhaps a side bar widget with your products rotating would be nicer,

your Review page I was expecting product information really this is what your customers are saying .. so maybe that should be customer testimonials... on your about me page have a photo of yourself.

Due you have insurance to cover any damage or mishaps with the dogs you are caring for. I would have a rolling blog page as home page with say the read more function on it break down stories, solutions to problems or how you function, I know you have a gallery of dogs and it is cute, but do you have any pictures of you in action with the dogs or owners who are happy with your service

Perhaps even have Q&A page... the bottom of your home page just looks too much for the reader..

You have a great banner for your header.. look at a few other sites offering similar stuff go through look at their layout ..

have a practice site try out different things .. hope this is helpful for you

here is some training to help you with cookie.. they will only give so long then come down us I guess.
if that site has been going longer it will make a difference also the amount of content.. I would advise to take away some of those amazon links google sees too many they think spam.. do not get disheartened it just needs refining you will get there if you have any recognized certificates etc get them up
