Instagram Verification

Did you know you can get verified on Instagram? If you don't know what that is, notice the blue check mark next to a person's name on their account. If they're verified you'll see one.

Basically, a check mark indicates to your followers that you're a real person, brand or entity, and not some imposter. Apparently, being verified generates more traffic and followers.

Here's how you get verified. I just did it on one of my accounts, and am crossing my fingers. It could take awhile to receive an answer. It used to be that you had to have a certain number of followers to be verified, but Instagram just recently changed their policy.

Do this on your phone. I couldn't figure out how to do it on my desktop. Visit your account and go to the menu to the right of your name. It's the icon with three horizontal lines in a square. Then click on the settings tab. It looks like a little round gear.

You'll now see the option "request verification." Enter your name and upload your license which has the information on it they need. You could also upload your passport, national ID card, or business tax filing instead. There's a couple additional options as well.

If you don't get approved, not to worry, keep on building your following through engagement, and reapply after awhile.

Go apply and see what happens ....
