It’s official, i finally lost my mind
Confession time
In my day work I am considered a bit stubborn and difficult; working in procurement and having to make decisions everyday on large value orders can do that to a person. There is no place for mistakes.
So many people have no clue of the amount of work I have and the amount of stress I have to deal with each day, they just think I am a madman who takes his work way to seriously and frankly have a few screws loose.
I have never really cared for these comments and remarks, because like I said, they don’t walk in my shoes, and they don’t know what it takes out of me each day.
But, alas I finally have to concede they are correct, I have lost my mind. I mean, how else can I explain choosing a SNORING niche as my first website. I am not a doctor, my only claim to fame is that my wife and kids say that I snore, and dammit I still need prove that I do. :-D
So can somebody please explain to me which spell was used, and by who, to lure me into a snoring website? :)
What’s done is done
OK, so in truth I chose this niche because I wanted a ‘start’ site, something that I could learn from. I did not want to mess up a site that I was really interested in doing, so going through the training with a ‘backup’ choice of a niche seemed like a good decision at the time. I thought I would write about ten posts and then leave it, because really, how much can you really say about snoring. :)
Little did I know how much I would enjoy it? I have been busy with it almost a month now (yes you read right), setting it up and trying to get it perfect. I kept changing my posts to make them perfect, I can’t make my mind up on a background, I have already changed my theme, I keep looking for new widgets to add…… and the list goes on.
OK, so it might not have been my first choice but I am loving it. But, here is the thing that I realized; it is not the specific topic that I love, but the whole internet marketing ‘thing’. I realized why there are so many people doing it, it is a rush. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to get some visitors for a change, :) but at the moment, just working on it is fulfilling.
So, I need you…… please.
I have not asked for feedback before, because I wanted the site finished and perfect first. I have realized however that that will never happen; you always want to add more, and chance something’s.
So can you please visit my site stoptherumble.com and give me some feedback. In a previous post, one of our friends said he finds it hard to tell a person if their site is rubbish. I ONLY want the truth though, I have a thick skin, if you think my site stinks then please say so, how else will I improve, I promise you, you won’t hurt my feelings.
The site is not finish yet but please give me advice and feedback of how you think I can make it better. If you can look at the menus and read something I wrote, that would also be nice. And, if you really want to be brave, then pick a number under ‘Snoring Sounds’, you will see what I mean. One more thing; I previously had a blog role, now I have a welcome page, although you did not see the other one what do you generally prefer?

First, if you're in procurement, you must be crazy. Some of my best friends are in procurement and I was a paralegal in the legal office that review the contracts. CRAZY especially at the end of the year. In any case, I never would have thought of a site like this. It's REALLY cool! I like the colors and the feel of it. My first thought is I would make that first page "home" and have an "About Me" page. People like to know you and see you. It'll be interesting to see how you play this out.

Ahhhhh, you're right. Yes, you should add a photo. I didn't see ANYTHING above the colored banner. I wonder how many others will miss those pages.

Hi. Your site is really cool and entertaining and I've left a message. I'm glad you enjoy the creative process so much, so do I!
Here's a couple of observations:
I find the background colour too dark. Dark grey on white or very light always seems to be recommended. Also, the main picture seems a bit irrelevant.
I tend to prefer a blog roll but opinions seem to vary so maybe it doesn't matter. But, if i was having a welcome page I think I'd have a much shorter one.
Your top menu (Privacy Policy etc) I'd make a footer.

We are completely on par here.
My first choice was a background image, but I am still struggling to find the right one. I also thought the colors was too dark and lightened it twice, I will again.
The picture came with the theme, and I am still looking for a new one. (I totally agree with you)
I had a blog roll, but could not get used to it, so I am just testing this out. :)
I rewrote the welcome page 3 times trying to shorten it, not successful, I tend to ramble. :)
Tried to make top menu to footer, don't think the theme allows it.
Like I said, great minds....

I enjoyed reading it. I do not think you should shorten the home page. Google loves content and I loved reading it!
One thing I got confused about is that you underlined some words. I automatically tried click on them as I am so used to seeing words and phrases underlined being something clickable, a hyperlink.
I realize you want those words to stand out. Maybe you can use a larger font for those words or whatever.
This is not a big problem, if you prefer to have them underlined it is fine.
The picture is beautiful, but in time you may want a picture that reflects your message and the content on the page. There are many companies where you can purchase a superb quality picture for less than a dollar. I have used Fotolia, but there are many other equally good companies. The best place to get a picture is if you take one yourself, as google loves original pictures.

Yes I agree about the underlined stuff, I will change it. It was meant as emphases and some actually also as links, and it was done in my draft on word so that when I copy here I would remember what need to be done. Problem is I forgot. :)
