Do you know where your traffic come from?
When I started at WA I had no idea where my traffic came from, but after installing Google Analytics it all became much more clear to me.
I really did not have any interest in analytics before. I thought it was really boring because I did not understand how to use it to my benefit.. In the Wealthy Affiliate training I started to understand how to read the numbers and how I could use it as a marketing tool. Now I found it much more interesting.And now I love analytics, but I have still a lot to learn.
What to do more of and less of?
I have been watching where my traffic mainly come from over time. This is important because then I have an idea what I am going to do more of and less of in my marketing.
If you have little Google traffic you need to work on your content and keywords. (if your website is totally new you need to wait for some time before results come)
If you have little Email traffic - You need to work on your email marketing.
If you have little Social media traffic you need to work on your Social media marketing.
My main traffic is now coming mainly from My website and Google searches. I also get traffic from Bing and yahoo, but way less.Maybe not so strange since Google are the biggest.
I also found that there is especially one Social Media Platform that generated a lot of traffic for me so I will focus mostly on becoming better on the others one by one to increase the traffic.
Here are the overall traffic stats for my first website:
Traffic from January this year = 1,3 K users
Traffic Last year = 3,1 K users. 12 K views Engagementrate 2,28
All time traffic = 4,4 K users

Where are your users coming from?
This is how it looks on my Google Analytics:
1. Most of my users come from Direct/None or unknown/undefined
2.Google
3. Wealthy Affiliate
4. Social Media
5. Affiliatepartnerlinks
I have a lot of unknown users that I need to find out more about it seems.
Jay have many good webinars about Google Analytics. I have watched many already. I started with the WA training and then I watched Jays Webinar How to set goals in Google Analytics. and the rest of his Google analytics Series. I still have to watch the newest one he made and maybe watch some of the first ones again to find out how I can discover my unknown traffic and how to get more data out of Google Analytics.
Conversions
What traffic generate most conversion?
1. My website referral links is generating most conversions.
2. The Social Media platform I focus on generate slightly more conversions than Google. 3. Google searches generate conversions.
4. Email conversions
5.Other Social media platforms and referral links conversions.
It is great to see that my website links generate most conversions. However this is a constant work that needs to be done. To increase conversions.
Digging into traffic is a science in itself. But it is very interesting and useful in your marketing. I still have a lot to learn about this topic and how to use it for my advantage.

I’m still in the waiting phase.
I am somewhat familiar with Google Analytics but like you were in the beginning, I haven’t been that interested in it. I didn’t know it could be useful. Now I know.

My impressions are just a few a month at the moment. But it is expected (local lead generation sites are like that). But this proves that more work needs to be done on my site, much appreciated 👍
Hilde, you are becoming an expert in defining where your traffic is coming from and how to improve in other areas. I published a post where I say that Google has all the traffic that we need, and Google Analytics is the sure way to find out. Good job my friend.

Glad you figured out where your referrals are coming from Hilde. I’ve tried to study the WA stats page. So much info that still does not help me understand where my referrals are coming from. I’ve looked for training on WA on this topic but found nothing that helps. Do you know of any training here that can help me?
