Action vs No action

Some Friday reflections

I got an email today that reminded me about something very important.

Let us talk about Action connected to the word "Failing".

Actually I do not like this word "failing" because it has a negative vibe to it .

I assosciate it with a lot of fear.

Without any action there would be no failing at all.

So to be on the safe side not to fail Taking No Action is the best, right?

Then you have nothing to fear.

You need to take action to fail just as much as to succeed.

Taking action means to take a risk.

Success is a risk you take.

Most people fail every day in many daily tasks.

It is more common to "fail" than to suceeed.

At least you learn a lot from failing. You learn what not to do.

Many people are so afraid to fail and keep up appearances so they do not take any action.

No action = No learning.

I had one sign up who asked me:

.How do I earn money with Wealthy Affiliate?

I told him to promote it. Be visible, Write about it, share links etc.

He said. No I cannot do that on my profile because my friends will start to wonder why he suddenly shared it on his profile and they would maybe laugh at him.

He did not want them to know he was an affiliatemarketer because they looked down on affiliate marketers. He was so afraid and controlled of what others would say.

According to Marriam Webster Failing is defined as :

"a usually slight or insignificant defect in character, conduct, or ability
an imperfection or weakness of character implies a failure, not necessarily culpable, to reach some standard of perfection in disposition, action, or habit.

Cambridge dictionary defines it as a fault or a weakness, becoming weaker or less successful,

Do you agree with these definitions?

Taking NO action at all is worse than taking action and fail.

Imagine you find a person laying unconscious on the ground and you are so afraid to do First aid compressions wrongly that you just let it be? What do you think will happen?

Some are even so afraid that they will break someones ribbone in the act and what people will think about that, than what will happen to the person if they do not break it.It happens for real. This is a real fear many have regarding First aid.

I used to be a first aider and it is a very good example I think on how taking no action is worse than failing.

First Aid and Affiliatemarketing have a lot in common in many ways believe it or not.

It is the same with your affiliate business. If you do not dare to promote your affiliate partners in fear of what others will say I am sorry to tell you that you will not get very far.

If you are afraid about other peoples houghts about you being an affiliate marketer then this may not be for you unless you manage to overcome that fear and take action on your passion for affiliate marketing.

Both First aid and Afiliate marketing follow a system and you practice it daily or regularly until you master it and both can change Lives even if you are not a master at it.

What are your thoughts on this?

I used to worry a lot about what other people thought, and finally have reached a point in my life where I do what I think best, regardless of what other people think. I believe we need to reach that point.

Yes, any action, no matter how small, is better than no action. If we take no action we will stay stuck in the same place. Better to fail and learn from that experience than to learn nothing at all.

A great post as always Hilde! I am a firm believer that the only people who fail, are those who don't put in the required effort in order to succeed.

We all suffer setbacks, but that is no reason to throw in the towel.

We must learn from what has not worked, pick ourselves up and try a different angle, if that doesn't work, then we try again and again until we find a way that works for us, and there is always a way my friend!:-)

For sure Nick. I have experienced many setbacks, but I will never throw in the towel. Just find a new way.

You could also have told that person to create a blog about something that matters to them. His friends would never have questioned him if he started a blog about something they knew he loved.

I hate newbie blogs about Wealthy Affiliate, because they are nothing more than book reports written by people who have never been successful affiliates. No added value from their experience!

Do a blog on a different topic first, make that a success, then try teaching others about affiliate marketing. Until then, you are just a pretender.

I did, but even a blog was too scary Jeannine. I told him that affiliatemarketing is no underground affair. You need to be out there and visible. I even suggested email marketing which was the same reaction. What will people say? I have no one to send to etc... Well he got the link to WA bootcamp. I told him if he wanted to learn he could go through the free bootcamp.

Thanks for sharing Hilde!

Mel

You are welcome. It is a muched talked about topic that never runs cold.

Our lives are all about overcoming fears, whether it's business or personal, the trick is to find a way to overcome them. This definitely takes some form of action. Jim

Could not agree more :)
