Anyone know the correct size for an image on WA blog? I went to create a new blog and just noticed that most of my blog images have had to be cropped to fit. I also looked a

I'd like to shrink some of them before posting, but haven't found out how;)
Barb

Hey Barb,

Not sure exactly what you mean by "shrink" so am offering suggestions for both resizing and optimizing to reduce file size without affecting image quality.

Resizing an image can be done with Paint on a Windows OS computer or by Google searching for a free online option (see screen print #1 below...).

There is training available regarding resizing images. See screen print #2 below...

You can optimize your images using tinyjpg.com before uploading your image(s) to your website that should have Kraken installed: to finalize optimizing.

After optimizing your images on tinyjpg.com you could convert them to be webp files so that they will be even tinier in file size, yet of great quality. It is my understanding that the WEBP format is the near future for images IF you want your pages to load quickly.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you, Trish!
That is exactly what I meant!
I have just figured out how to download my pictures from camera, so now this is the next step!
Appreciate your usual, great tips!
Barb

I find that because I use the image icon here that the pictures always load fine and stay the correct size.

Lily

Lily, I think it was your post that had me go back to site content for blogs.
Question?
Can we add any tag words, like we can from WA blogging position?
I ended up copy to WA, and posting from there instead of Site Content.
Also. When I went to publish, I didn't get a place other than my website.
Can we publish directly to WA blog?
Any help, is appreciated, Lily!
Thank you,
Barb

Yes, it's easy to post directly to WA Barbara.

Click on your own small picture (top right-hand side) and a list will drop down which includes your Blog. Click on that and you will see any blogs on WA that you have done and a button to add a new one. In there you can add a title, image, and text and it will publish directly to the WA blog.

Hope this helps.
Lily

Yes, you can post straight to WA.

Click on your little picture (top right-hand side) and a list will dropdown. Then click on My Blog and in there you will see a button to add a new post.

You can add a title, images, and text and then at the bottom tags. Once you publish it will go straight on the WA blog.

Hope this helps.

Lily

I use PowerPoint so in inches it is
8.3/8 inches wide by 4.25 inches high.

Hey Hilary,

The size for WA post images is 545px X 200px.

Hope you find this helpful.

I usually use 600 X 450, Hilary! I've never had an issue with it!

Jeff

Thanks Jeff I'll try that now 😀

I hope it works out for you as it has for me, Hilary!

No idea at all it sounds like you have discovered a strange new universe on You Tube. Try resetting your computer settings.

It's a glitch on my mac - no prob with YT!! Seems to be OK when I change my speed setting to 1.5 and then back to normal. I usually find solutions to the problems in my strange new and old universes thank goodness!

May be a computer problem maybe you need to take it to the Apple Store

if you are on a Windows computer first make sure Windows Defender is turned on. second run a virus check or two such as Maleware Bytes and Maleware Hunter. Then go from there.

Hi Steven Thank you for the tip. I am on a mac and seemed to have resolved the problem but it's just returned tonight.

Sorry can't help .hope someone comes to the rescue soon or you can send site support a ticket

Thanks for the suggestion. I think that if I don't get it sorted tonight I will contact support

Thanks for replying. I have resolved this problem - don't ask me how -but it's fine again

Ask support to delete the theme. Then when you can access your site again you can reinstall your preferred theme as if you've never used it before. Don't make changes without using a child theme.

Thanks Marion. Support have got my website back for me. Think I need to learn about CSS because my lack of knowledge on that subject was the cause of the problem in the first place.

You can change your theme. Then reinstall the theme you are using. You should also be doing any changes to your theme in a child theme. That way you won't lose any custom changes you make.

when I try to access the website absolutely nothing appears on the screen

Thanks everybody - it turns out the culprit was the theme!

Thanks everybody for the help It turns out the probelem was the theme (Socrates). Not quite sure why because I have been using it for years. Don't mind though - I am glad to get my site back :)

Hi Hilary, not enough information :(

Are you hosted at WA? If so put in a support ticket.

If elsewhere then use Wordfence security plugin and run a scan

Marion

thanks Marion I've done that

If you can get into the backend, but the site's blank, t's often a problem with the functions.php file being corrupted. Can be caused by a plugin screwing something up.

FTP a new version of that file to replace the old one. (You'll have to download a copy of the theme onto your PC to get it.)

You need to clear out your cache on your browser then try again. If it still don't work contact tech support. Might be a bad update etc.

yes I did that but it didn't help - thanks for your help I have contacted support so I'll let you know what happens

Hi Hilary. Frank here. I tried to get into your site and got a McAfee warning. You need to go to your hosting provider and submit a ticket, because there may be some JavaScript problems, or virus problems. Your hosting co. can correct this and get you back on line.
Hope this helps..............Frank

Thanks Frank

Try to clear cache it might work.

Hi - have you published any pages/posts yet?

Also, please check in Appearance -> Customise and check the Status Front Page option - what does it say in there?

All the best, Mark

This is the message that I am getting on Google Console for affluent-affiliate.com "You don't have access to this property. Verify this property or ask a property owner to add you as a user. This is the message that I am getting on Google Console for affluent-affiliate.com"?

Have you tried to reset your password on WA and then try again?

Accessing your site and using google console on it are two separate issues. Your site is coming up as a blank page for me as well. Have you created content for it and published the pages?

yes It's been up for a long time and has about 12 posts on it
