Are You Kidding Yourself?
Do you ever suffer from writer's block and sometimes use this as an excuse not to write your blog? I know that I have done this in the past, but since I discovered this little strategy that particular excuse has gone.
Do you know how many words you can write in 7 minutes?
- Get a timer or use the one on your smart phone
- Choose your topic and your keywords
- Set it for 7 minutes and start writing (you are probably in for a big surprise)
- Next time you want to write a blog but don't feel motivated - just decide to write for 7 mins and see what happens!
I can't tell you in advance how many words that will be, - you will have to test it for yourself. What if it was within the average range which is 1200 -1500 words - might that make the thought of writing a 1000 word blog post seem a little less difficult?
Instead of wasting 7 minutes deciding whether or not to start writing - you could be looking at a brand new blog. You can spend another 7 minutes if you like adding images etc.
So open your mind to the possibilities of what you could do to move your business forward with a spare 7 minutes.
- a livestream
- a video
- some research
- some tweaking
- syndicate your blog
The list goes on........
Hope this helps!
Your friend always

Hilary, I love this. Thanks so much for this post. It's very interesting. 7 minutes... here I come.

Also, when feeling creative, put a bunch of draft blogs in your Site Content area that was derived from keyword research. Maybe even create a short outline in each one.
Then, when procrastination sets in, there is no excuse because ideas are sitting there waiting for you. I actually find myself excited to get back to them when I do this
Great suggestion, and I will definitely try it the next time I'm procrastinating about writing an article!

My biggest problem are reviews. Especially of products I don't own myself. I need to do endless research and research means I am on the web, and being on the web means I get distracted.
My "I am going to write a blog and do some research for it in the coming hour" becomes easily a whole day of non-production.
