Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda

This post is all about regret. It strongly refers to one getting to the end of life, looking back, and entering a mindful state of missed opportunities. "I should have done that, but.." "I could have done that, but.." and "I would have done that, but.." Realizing that it's too late to change the past and to do anything about it now is a depressing thought at the end of life. It must be such an unsettled feeling.

A "missed opportunity" is when someone has the opportunity to accomplish a task, job, action or anything that would advance them, but does not take advantage of it. Then, it becomes unknown to them what the outcome shoulda, coulda and woulda been.

There may be some missed opportunities you have had in your life that you look back on and wish you'd have taken advantage of. You will never know what would have resulted if you had. But, the good news is that there is still time to reach your goals!

Don't look back on the past and regret not doing something. Instead, look to the future and take a chance! You'll never know if something will work until you put your best foot forward and at least try!

I can't help thinking of Frank Sinatra when he starts singing, "Regrets, I've had a few.." in his song, "My Way." If you sing the song in your mind (or out loud), you see that he turns out being content with the life he led.

Live life "your way" and make the most of opportunities that happen by. Make no excuses for not doing something, but reasons why you should! After all, you have a huge one right here! Begin your legacy now, work and make it happen. You will be SO very glad you did!

Great message...often it can prove challenging to actually live it!

When it comes down to it, it's about deciding whether you want to spend time thinking about that which you can't change (the past) or take responsibility to shape your future.

Exactly, Veronica! Well said! See you around!

Nicely stated. Thanks and just do it. Jay

You, too, Jay! Thanks!

So well said! Thank you for this! Great job! ariel

You are very welcome, Ariel! Thank you!

My most favourite song. I had to sing it live on stage in a play once upon a time. I've put in a request for it to be played at my funeral... though God willing that will be a long way off. I have been out of my comfort zone so many times in my life, and I don't regret any of them.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen
