Should I join Wealthy Affiliate?
When would it be easier to become a successful affiliate marker? 10 years ago or today?
If you jump into a business early, you might have more chance to succeed. But if you jump in too early, there might be way to much work for just a little success.
Advantage of starting as an affiliate marketer 10 years ago.
- There were not very much affiliate marketers. There was low competition.
Disadvantages of starting as an affiliate marketer 10 years ago.
- Less people using the internet.
- Much less people shopping online.
- Not as many affiliate programs as today. Now you can promote almost everything.
- Building a website was much more complicated back then.
- Back in those days the few learning platforms where quite rudimentary. There was not even half of the guidance you have now inside Wealthy Affiliate.
And what seems to be the most crucial point, affiliate marketing seems to be constantly growing. If I would have to choose between becoming an affiliate marketer 10 years ago and now, I would definitely choose NOW!
Why not wait 10 years more? The expansion in the affiliate marketing world may benefit you today, but we are not sure it will be so 10 years from now. Timing is important and this seems to be just the right time.
Should I join Wealthy Affiliate? You may have just come across Wealthy Affiliate at the best moment! Go for it!

I have a neighbor who got into it over 10 years ago. She has done very well, but she did take classes to learn how to do the coding and everything. I do wish I had decided that if she could do it, I could do it several years ago though. I guess, as all things the timing worked out well for me though.
Hi, Anita! Yes, back in those days coding was necessary (today it's complementary). I totally agree with you, I wish I had started earlier, but I'm more than happy I found Wealthy Affiliate (even thou I found them 10 years after their launch). And I feel timing worked out well for me as well! Thank you very much for stopping by! :)
Only you can know that answer. What is good for you may not be the same for someone else. It's never too late to start something new.

As one who has been in the industry nearly 20 years, it is fun to reflect on the changes which have occurred. The big affiliate networks are still the same, though CJ was sold to Conversant, Rakuten bought Linkshare and Affiliate Window bought buy.at (and we are now all Awin!). New technologies have been relentless introduced - some disappeared in months, others are still around. Successful affiliates have come and gone. The FTC has become more strict on compliance as unscrupulous people tried to leverage fake testimonials. The Affiliate Summit conference grew from 500 attendees in 2005 to over 6,000 in 2018. Solid adherence to best practices meant that those sites still remain, and that's what's taught here at WA.
Hi, Jeannine! Wao, the growth of the Affiliate Summit conference is impressive. I’m really grateful for your wonderful insight! You have been involved with affiliate marketing for a long time and that also brings priceless experience. You have seen them come and go. And have seen sites and marketers tested with time. I’m very happy to connect with you here at Wealthy Affiliate! :) Thank you very much for your valuable comment!
