Well winter has set in with a vengeance; especially for Tasmania. We have had several frosts that usually do not attack us until next month. There has been two weeks of wild weather with extreme, usually September, winds. And accompanying this we have had two plus weeks of rain - from a direction previously unknown. With all the usual weather terms, Tasmania has an additional one and that is 'Confused'.

In some places we get all seasons at once. I once did a job at Cradle Mountain, one of Tasmania's iconic places (and beautiful it is). Every morning I would look at the BOM (not the explosive one but our Bureau of Meteorology) weather report.

One morning the announcer gave the following run-down.

'The weather at Cradle Mountain will be sunny, cloudy and rainy. There will be sleet and some snow. There will be significant wind confusing the issue. Just remember if you visit there, depending on road closure, if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it will change.' Then she added, 'I think that covers everything!'

So it looks like it will be great weather for me to stay glued to my computer, with the fire on of course, to knuckle down and spend time on my website.

This of course is after I go and remove the tarpaulins that are preventing condensed mist from dripping through my decking boards and running down the joists onto my strawbale rendered walls. The builder managed to slant the joists the wrong way so moisture does not drain away from the house.

Oh my goodness, frozen fingers again. Yesterday morning when I did this the tarp was a bit like a skating rink! And I have to go back in the afternoon to put them back. This stops the moisture from dripping through the decking boards until things dry out enough for me to fix this issue.

Now for why I did a rare post today. I opened my computer, turned the heater on (to thaw out my fingers) and found the following clip from a good friend of mine.

I listened to it and now my blood is up and roaring and I am completely champing at the bit to suffer the torture of the great outdoors.

If it wears off when I get back inside I will listen to it again and charge full steam into my website page and post creating.

Have a great day everyone and I hope you enjoy this.

Really enjoyed the video but I am glad the cold weather is down south right now.

Well we are now back to rain. Last week was sun and frost every day and temperatures from -2 to + 5 Celcius. Temperatures now up to 16 degrees each day - positively balmy! Glad you liked the video.

Fun video
Thanks,
Sami

You are welcome Sami.

lol can relate to that though we might not get the heat like you we can also get weather for all seasons in one day, enjoyed the music my sister so loves the banjo, this is my fav band in Scotland and the title of their album sums up scotland for weather lol

I am listening to this while I write. Skerryvore have a very pleasant sound. The change to the fiddle catches me with my toes tapping. I will explore iTunes for more of their stuff.

I know the boys and they can soon get you all up and dancing , try listening to Happy to be home one of my favourites Craig is on the fiddles and we call him the angry fiddler lol or max factor eyes since he has great eyelashes ha ha all a bit of banter

I thought the Netherlands was the "frog country" but it seems you've beaten us:) Thanks for the music!

Our frogs down here are amazing. Every year we have literally thousands of tadpoles in our dam. These are about the length of half my thumb. The frogs themselves are about the size of my thumb nail. Life growth in reverse.

Gotta luv those Aussie bushbands.

Marion, many years ago we lined up to get tickets to the Bushwacker's concert. And it was fabulous. The next day we went to the Medieval Fair in Hyde Park, Sydney. We spent several hours there and were just about to leave when we notice activity on the stage. We delayed our departure and soon out came, you guessed it, the Bushwackers. So we had a follow up, totally free, three hour concert. What a great two days it was.

Hey, now I'm doing the granny dance in my chair!!!!!

I always wanted to be able to play an instrument like that but my fingers tend towards being double jointed so they lock on the strings. I played a trumpet at school but certainly can't raise a note now. My lips have lost their pucker power! I am so glad I gave you something additional to dance about.

The music was great.

Wow and I thought Toowoomba in Queensland was bad with the changing weather. We never get snow though (except once in 1983 which I missed - it was gone by the time I got out of bed :( - Have you had a warmer than normal Autumn? We have only had one or two cold days, I'm sure it has been the hottest Autumn ever, which is good as I hate the cold. We will probably have a longer winter to make up for it. I hope you stay warm while you are working.

Your area would probably be more prone to floods. We lived in Bentley near Casino, Kyogle and Lismore. I was involved in managing the regions natural disaster plan. Boy did I get used to floods. Ironically enough I also managed the drought watch program. In Bonalbo the water supply got down to 7% one year. I had the state's hydro-geophysicist, the local old timers and the region's water diviner in (to cover all bases and keep everyone happy). We found a possible pocket of water and I got the drilling rig in. He set up and started drilling. The next day it rained and the rig got bogged in. How is that for finding water!

Autumn, yes up until the last few weeks it was warm and lovely.

PS Gail, I am now following you.

It can flood around our district, but rarely in Toowoomba as we on a mountain. I don't know if you recall in 2011 we had an inland tsunami from so much rain, two people were killed here and a lot more down the range.
It sounds like your work keeps you busy and moves you around a lot.

Boy do I ever. We have good friends up there but fortunately they were missed. It goes to show that nature doesn't differentiate. If it is your time for a flood, well a flood you will get. That was a horrific one though.

We were lucky, the water came up to both our doors and we lost power for 12hours so we didn't have a clue what was going on until 11 pm that night, except from a few snippets via my mobile.

Hi Helen. Good post, it's cold here as well ! You're colder down there, or is it up. I too am having a computer day. Might ask you a quick question - have asked it on live chat but it doesn't seem to be quite understood.
I am shutting down one site, and concentrating on my new one,
and want to move content from older site to newer one. Does Google regard this as spam? Or should I rearrange sentences to be safe?
Hope you have a great day. I've also asked this as a question!
Jan

If you remove the content fully from your old site I cannot see why Google would see anything. After all it will not be there to read! If you do not want to keep the old site see if you can delete it. Ask these two questions specifically and see what answers you get.

As for down or up, we are about an hours drive from the furthest southern point in Australia (excluding the small out lying islands).so you are probably up!

Thanks Helen. I asked this question twice for 2different answers! Also on live chat. I will disconnect from Google and then re-write.
Many thanks. Jan

Sounds very like British weather lol, we can experience four seasons in one day :)

I think Tasmania has created several more seasons! I haven't visited the UK for a very long time but the year I did the weather was fabulous. Maybe I should return one day!

Stay warm. and becarefull

I am back at home (we rent next door to hour under construction house) and almost sitting on the heater!
