The Truth About My Frustration in 3 Minutes
Not going to bore the socks off you but I have got to have a rant this afternoon... This is driving me crazy.. and has done on numerous previous occasions. I really dont need distractions - stuff not doing whta theyre supposed to do, but this has really got me peeved.
Ill say it on one word - ANALYTICS
I hated the setting up of analytics on my websites, but I went through the process of setting it up, getting verification, not getting verification, going through it all again to try to get verification to then not get verification and doing this again and again until eventually it verified .... woohoo !!!!
Things go on nicely for a little while, then all of a sudden I have lost it again!!
I have to go through the whole process all over again.... and not only that but there is the Google search console in all this too.... causing equal issues.....
So this has been my life for a while now, probably over the last 18 months.
Now today I mentioned on live chat about this and was suggested I put the code into the all in one SEO... I thought that was a great idea as it was suggested that updates or change of themes ( not changed any themes) could be the culprit. So I went off to put it in the all in one SEO only to find that it is already there so I must have done that a while back.....
So the question is... How am I losing the connection with analytics and search console.
I have lost the will to live with it today and have left it otherwise I will get absolutely nothing done today which will be even more frustrating,
If you have any suggestions, or advice, I would be very interested to hear, even if it is only to comiserate. And if you have any suggestions of alternatives, Id like to hear about that too.

Helen, believe me you are not alone. GA just about did me in. I tried and tried to get it set up and was so frustrated I wanted to quit. But I decided I was not a quitter and I WOULD learn now to do this right. I went back over Kyles training and then went looking for all the other WA member tutorials and went over them also. then I walked very slowly step by step from sitemap to Webmaster tools to GA setup. Took a couple more walkthroughs but I made it work. I really felt I had accomplished something.
Even now, when I have a new site I want to set up on GA I go back to the training and walk myself through it again, step by step so I can get it right this time too.

I had the same issues, and frustrations.
I left it Google Analytics and Search Console for a while, in fact a few months.
I just back to doing something with it a couple of weeks ago. I watch Jay's videos and wrote a bunch of notes.
I'll copy and send them over to you via PM. If anyone else wants it just let me know.
I hope it makes sense when you get it.
I have both working now, for the longest time it would not verify... but I believe the problem was because I tried so many times, starting over and over again... I don't think my code was current.

This is very exasperating. I am on a similar track today, having lost ads on three sites overnight due a plug in failure. I know it will take days....AHAHAHA. I sympathize.
Using Google Analytics has always been the best way for me to get sites verified. But I have gone round in circles a lot.
but how did you verify it - it won't chnge the type of verification if you used the 'add the file' to 'add the code to the head'
you need to do this
so i always use the html tag method and add the number only to the all in one seo general settings.
verify with googl, yandex whoever and it goes through.
not had a problem (touch wood) in over 3 years.
but it must be frustrating as google doesn't give much help on it.
i am wondering if it is due to the security here, i have external connections on most of my sites, so it maybe worth asking sitesupport if it is something they can help with.

Thanks phil, I had them already added to the all in one, when you told me in chat to try that I did and was surprised to already find the code there. I will talk to site support, but not today, wasted too much time already .... I will sort it though!

I have stopped wondering about and being bothered by Analytics, rankings, and co. I do not look any more and feel a lot better.
My sanity is my priority. I did look at my websites with WebSiteGrader and am doing some finetuning.
I know all this does not sound very professional but I do not care. I will just continue writing doing my thing.
